Guest Access:

Our historic home is newly renovated for 2024, and it now offers ample amenities and a cherished experience for guests to enjoy in this perfect location.

The Neighborhood:
Historic Montford is one of Asheville's oldest and most sought after neighborhoods. Montford is a safe and unique area of Asheville to explore. The homes are influenced by Victorian era, Arts and Craft and Queen Anne styles. Our rental location is within 6 blocks of a Whole Foods Grocery, Trader Joe's, and Harris Teeter. Some of our favorite Asheville spots are within a 5-7 minute walk from the apartment, including Nine Mile (Caribbean inspired dishes for lunch and dinner), All Day Darlin (unique and delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options), Chiesa (housemade pasta and classic Italian dishes- dinner only) and High Five (coffee shop featuring Counter Culture coffee and small treats). There is a playground located down the street (1 block away), as well as the Reed Creek Greenway, which is 2 blocks away from the apartment, and connects to the Botanical Gardens and UNCA campus. From the rental, it is about a 10-20 minute walk to downtown (depending on your walking pace and downtown destination) and please note that this does include hills. For more of our top Asheville recommendations, check out our personalized guidebook on this listing, which will also be printed and located in the rental. We are also happy to provide you a PDF version of our Insider’s Guide via email.

Getting Around:
Guests can easily walk, bike, UBER, Lyft or drive to downtown Asheville. From our property, it is about a 10-20 minute walk to downtown (depending on your walking pace and downtown destination) and does include hills. UBER or Lyft will be quick (less than 5 minutes) and cheap (around $7) to downtown. Driving into downtown is always a convenient option as well but parking can be limited.

Other Things to Note:
As noted above, this is our home and we live upstairs above The Montford Jewel. The normal sounds of life can be heard (including some footsteps and possibly our small dog) but we are very mindful of our noise levels and try our best to keep sounds to a minimum. We have included white noise machines and ear plugs in each bedroom to ensure that guests remain undisturbed throughout their stay. Also, please note that there are no parties or events of any kind allowed in the Montford Jewel. Thank you.

Interaction with Guests:
We love to meet our guests but also are respectful of your privacy. We are happy to interact if you initiate but otherwise we will let you enjoy your space. Please always feel free to reach out to us if you would like to chat, ask questions, or hear a local's perspective on anything Asheville. We may cross paths with you when we let our pug, Juno, out in the front yard- please feel free to say hi! She is very friendly and loves meeting new people.

Top notch Asheville choice
This place could not have been better!! The location was within walking distance to downtown, we walked each day there and back without an issue and through beautiful, friendly, safe neighborhoods. inside, it had absolutely everything we could want or need. Came prepared with welcome snacks, wine, water, sparkling Waters and every necessity was waiting inside.. The decor was perfect and so thoughtful. The hosts were responsive and welcoming.

Great location!
This place is in a great location! It was clean and the host was communicative. Pros: This is a great place if you just want somewhere to lay your head at night. You can easily walk to downtown. The neighborhood is quiet for being so close to everything. The rental was super clean, and there are clear instructions for operating anything and everything in the unit. Cons: The pull out couch is without a doubt the most uncomfortable couch I've ever sat on. The shower head needs to be replaced. One bed feels like the legs are about to fall off. The pathway to the back needs better lighting. The steps from pathway down to patio are steep and seem unsafe, railing would be nice. For the rate we paid I expected a little more in some areas, but then again you're really paying for the location.

Enjoyed our stay
Very clean and well appointed. Lovely neighborhood and convenient. The owners put a lot of effort into the decor. The rooms are large and the bathroom has good space and is very nice. I like that plenty of towels are provided. The kitchenette is very small but nicely outfitted with a good coffeemaker and all necessary supplies. The apartment has excellent lighting. There is a nice washer and dryer. The 2 bedrooms and the living room have mini split units so individual temperature preferences can be met. I suggest that the path to the house be better lit and the path needs a bit of smoothing and maintenance. This is a very comfortable and charming apartment.

Amazing Ashville-loved the Jewell
The property is fabulous in an amazing neighborhood. We were welcomed with snacks and wine waiting-a nice touch. The pictures were accurate, although we feel it is nicer than the pics. So much room!!! The beds were comfortable-especially if you are used to foam type mattresses. We never saw the hosts but enjoyed the info left . Would recommend this property. Also, the first thing we did was go to the visitors center- they were so helpful and we got TONS of information. A woman named Judy helped us plan our days . Go there!! We spent two days going on the Highway-driving,hiking,looking-sooooooooo beautiful. Did the Greyline on and off-excellent. Biltmore was amazing. We LOVED the Woolworth walk and so enjoyed lunch at the old soda fountain. Ashville is an amazing place - could return many times and still not see all.
