Restorative Family Time
Our families really enjoyed their stay at this relaxed, homey farm setting. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, and the opportunity to visit the horses with the children. Cobblestone Farm provided a restful retreat.

Best family getaway!
If you haven't yet discovered Northumberland County and specifically Cobblestone Farm, you need to. We enjoyed our stay so much that we're looking to come back again this winter to explore more.

Spectacular, relaxing getaway!
Cobblestone Farm is breathtaking! From the beautiful century home with its updated kitchen and bath to the stunning property with its horses and rolling hills, this vacation home is a must! My family of four spent a week there July 15-22. We had 2 other families join us for the last 2 days and there was plenty of room for the 12 of us! Sam is an amazing host. She is very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed! We will definitely go back one day and would recommend this property to all our friends and family. Thank you Sam for making our vacation memorable!

Just what the pictures described. Quiet, pastoral, great access to biking and lovely town of Cobourg
Thanks Sam, we really enjoyed our stay. Lots of room for everybody to spread out, both inside and out. Nice walking trail through the south pasture by the way. Highly recommend.

So peaceful...
...you don't realize how much you miss the sounds of nature and the fresh air, until you visit the country. Cobblestone is a little oasis just 1.5 hours outside Toronto. We had a relaxing weekend, enjoying great conversation, food and spectacular views. Thanks Sam. You are a great host! Tracy and friends.

Lovely spot for a girls weekend!
We had a wonderful girls weekend at Cobblestone Farm. The farm house was very comfortable with separate beds for 6 of us (and there were more beds), beautiful common rooms, and two outdoor patios to enjoy the great weekend weather and the surrounding views of the countryside. The farm is close to both Cobourg and Port Hope so we enjoyed a bit of shopping as well. We had a very relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend it.

A glorious place to stay
My family (seven adults, one infant) were fortunate to find Cobblestone Farm for a weekend away celebrating my father's birthday. Sam was a marvellous host, offering lots of information before our arrival – and recommendations for area amenities and attractions and a warm fire to greet us. We will certainly be looking to arrange future getaways here!

Perfect getaway house
This was my third rental with Sam, and the farmhouse has never disappointed. I hosted a group of 5 ladies while we escape the hustle and bustle of the city and spend the weekend focussing on creative projects and good food. The beds and rooms were comfortable with several fluffy down duvets. There are so many spots to sit and relax throughout the house. The newly renovated mudroom/bathroom is a great continuation of Sam's great eye with modern/rustic farmhouse decor. We loved spending as much time outside in the warm afternoon sun. Sam is amazing to deal with: friendly, professional, accommodating. I plan to continue hosting weekends for as long as Sam is willing to have us!

Cobblestone Farm had everything we needed!
Our family (2 adults and 2 girls, ages 5 and 3) flew in from Vancouver and stayed at Cobblestone Farm for 10 days in August. We picked the location because it was central in Ontario relative to a range of friends and family. It proved to be everything we had hoped for and then some. First, the house, farm and surrounding area are beautiful. We had tons of space for the girls to play, along with the children of friends who came to visit. Second, the house gave us a lot of flexibility when it came to hosting. We had friends and family over to visit and for meals. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed themselves. Third, the proximity to Cobourg was really handy ... we were able to grab groceries quickly and easily, or take the girls into town to the waterfront to play. Nothing was far. And finally, Sam the owner was great to deal with. All emails or phone calls in the run up to our trip were answered promptly. Any information we needed in order to feel "at home" was made available to us. We were even given emergency numbers to call if we couldn't reach her. In our experience, not all VRBO owners are as accommodating or generous with their time. We would highly recommend Cobblestone Farm, and we are grateful to Sam for her generosity in making it available to us. The girls are already asking when we can go back to "our farm."

Perfect Family Getaway
This was our first visit to Cobourg and the Northumberland County area. We were pleasantly surprised at how serene and picturesque the area was. There was no shortage of activities/day trips. You could be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. We enjoyed Cobblestone Farm very much. The house accomodated our family of 4, in addition to my parents and in-laws who joined us for a few days during our stay. It slept 8 of us comfortably. We began each morning with breakfast outside, then packed a picnic lunch and ventured out to some morning trips suggested by our host. One of the suggestions was the nearby Lavender Farm, we also visited a trout farm where our children "caught" dinner. We did a few of the Nature Trails one day, then a Provincial Park another day. The afternoons were all spent at the beach. Cobourg beach is a 15 - 20 min drive from the farmhouse, which was very convenient. The entry to the water was shallow enough for our 5 and 7 year old children. There are also a splash pad and playground adjacent to that beach. Tuesdays during the summer they hold concerts in the park in the evenings, although we were too busy with our evening bonfires back at the farm to venture out at night. We were busy exploring during the day, so relaxed back at the farm at night. We hope to visit this farm again in the future, as it was wonderful to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and "unplug" from electronics. Our children found plenty to do to keep themselves occupied, we brought horseshoes, board games and activities.

Second Time Around
This was our second visit to Cobblestone Farm. It was so peaceful. It was the quiet holiday we needed. This visit will go down as a very special time. Our friend, recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, came up to spend a night. He and his wife fell under the spell of this beautiful farmhouse and the location, and stayed another night. For one weekend he forgot his problems and really enjoyed himself. I will never forget this stay. Thank-you Sam for everything.

Girls getaway at the perfect farmhouse
This was our second year at the Cobblestone Farm for our annual girls weekend. The farmhouse is beautifully decorated (feels like home!) and the beds are literally the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Adorable barn and outdoor space surrounding the farmhouse. Amazing spa only 15 minutes away! We were only 5 people this year but you could fit many more comfortably. We will be back and will recommend this farm to others!!

great stay on a working farm
What a wonderful time we had at Cobblestone Farm! Our five young children loved staying on a working farm and enjoyed the horses. The home is an amazing farmhouse with lots of nooks and crannies. It may be old, but it is up to date and clean, with plenty of room and modern convenience--we really felt like we were visiting someone's home and loved the old-time feel. Lots of books and movies allow for great ways to spend free time, and the house is well stocked for everything a guest would need. The house accommodates plenty of people; our kids particularly enjoyed the bunkroom, which has two sets of double bunkbeds! The gardens are beautiful, and we even enjoyed some of the produce from the owner's vegetable garden. We also were able to stock up on local produce at farmstands nearby. The owner could not have been more accommodating or helpful, particularly since we had foreign-currency issues when we booked. She helped us out; gave us tons of information; and was incredibly kind and friendly. The town of Cobourg is charming--with a sweet downtown and lovely beach--and well worth a walk-about. We can't wait to go back!

Comfortable farm experience
My family of young adults and a dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cobblestone. It was a very comfortable, authentic farm experience, enjoying lots of room to roam, clean country air and star studded night skies, visiting the horses, and preparing elaborate dinners to linger over. The area is very good for cycling and we enjoyed exploring Cobourg. Thanks Sam for your warm hospitality when we arrived and providing such a comfortable home to visit.

Fantastic, Quiet Get-Away Destination for Families & Groups
Cobblestone Farm is located just over an hour east of Toronto, 10 minutes from Cobourg, and 45 minutes from the wineries of Prince Edward County. Far enough away from it all to give you peace and quiet, but close enough to everything that you're not far from numerous things to do. The beautiful house is well maintained, clean, and well stocked. We had a scorching hot week, so we were glad it had A/C. The property is gorgeous, the furniture is comfortable, and everything worked great (TV, internet, BBQ, kitchen appliances, etc). We were a group of 4 adults, a child, and a small dog, but it could easily sleep double that amount. All in all, we had an excellent visit, and plan on returning again soon.

Thanks to Sam!!!
We were in Cobourg for a family wedding and stayed at the farm as it's now fondly known in our family! It was a wonderful place to gather and commune. Important to note that all bedrooms are upstairs and that the sleeping arrangements to accomodate a large crowd are such that many people will be in double bunk beds in one room. Two smaller rooms accomodate only one couple and one single. There are only two bathrooms in the house. One has a shower and one has a tub. It is a beautiful property, in nice surroundings. Love the horses!!! Sam was very helpful in providing us with details prior to. I would not hesitate to recommend this property. Very close to the 401 Hwy.

Great place!
This was our second time visiting the farm for a girls get away weekend. We loved it so much the first time that we have now selected this place as our regular annual retreat! The home is well equipped and the owner is very welcoming and approachable. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing get away!

Wonderful place to have a gathering.
If you love homes with character, having an open kitchen well stocked kitchen that is great for preparing meals, and horses, this is the perfect place! We spend 5 days at Cobblestone farm with around 16 people and we were very comfortable. The owner welcomed us, showed us around the property, and left a great binder with information about the local area, and nearby stores. The sofas are incredibily comfortable and on a cold winter day the wood stove made the living room the place to hang out. But if you need some quiet time the t.v. room is also available. For larger groups the two bathrooms can be a bit tight but it was manageable. The dining room was amazing and could accomodate all of us. The location was also great as we were in the country, not close to any other houses, but were only 15 minutes away from a Walmart which was great for any needed supplies. The location was also ideal for our group which was travelling from Ottawa and Toronto, and it was not a far drive off the 401. The best part about the farm though is the horses! They were so friendly and we loved visiting them throughout the day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and hope to visit again.

A Christmas Dream!
We needed a central spot to gather the family for Christmas. Everyone was delighted by Cobblestone Farm. There was plenty of everything...beds, sitting rooms, outdoors etc. Sam had done a superb job of decorating for Christmas and we were able to welcome family and friends with all the hospitality that we wished for. Not far off Highway 401 (8 minutes) it's tucked up in the rolling hills and easy to get to. My husband found the bed to be unbelievably comfortable and I found the kitchen had all the fundamentals and more to turn out some good meals...including the 30lb local turkey that was the centerpiece of our Christmas dinner. Thanks Sam!!

Escape from the GTA
We were looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway that was not too far from home. Cobblestone Farm was an ideal location. Just minutes north of the 401. It was so peaceful and tranquil. When we needed provisions, it was a short drive into Cobourg. There was so much to do and see close by. However, some days we just wanted to sit on the porch all day long and wish we could stay forever. Hope to return next year.

Wonderful getaway
Our family loves Cobblestone Farm! We’ve been privately renting Cobblestone Farm every Thanksgiving for the last few years. When we heard Sam was going to list the farm for rent on VRBO we made sure to book our Thanksgiving weekend right away. We’re happy to share this incredible place with others, just not on our weekend The property is comfortable and welcoming, it’s really like stepping back in time but with all the modern conveniences. The spacious living rooms and oversized dining room definitely make it comfortable for our large family. The fall colours are magnificent at the farm and all over Northumberland County. There is always lots to do for every member of our family, no matter the age: shopping, wine tours, hiking and of course relaxing on the porches watching the sun set over the farm. We’ve lucked out the last couple of Thanksgivings in that we’ve even been able to enjoy a beautiful bonfire and stargaze. Looking forward to Thanksgiving 2012. Thanks for the memories Sam.

*UPDATE* I recently "retired" from my career of 30 years to focus my attention to Cobblestone Farm Retreat and hosting guests. I am thrilled to be around the farm more to aid with our guest's experience. I've been hosting family & friends at my farm for many years and they all said I should look into opening it as a B&B. I've used VRBO in the past so I actually thought this might be a better route to go.

Why they chose this property

Cobourg is only an hour outside of Toronto but you feel like you're a world away. The small town atmosphere is so welcoming and there are so many sights to see. From antique shopping, to relaxing on the beach, to hiking in the forest there is something for everyone!

AMAZING NEWS: In 2017 Cobblestone Farm partnered with a newly opened, full service spa that is located minutes away: Fieldstone Spa. Check out the spa at

What makes this property unique

You will have a chance to completely unwind and get back to nature on this incredible country property. You might even get to see some local farmers working the land as they used to many years ago. You'll see young girls riding horseback and cyclists whipping by enjoying the fresh country air. The stars at night are something to be seen and how better to see them then by sitting by a bonfire roasting marshmallows or sipping some wine.
