We are a family of 7 - Alan and Megan, our adult children, and our two furry (dogs) family members; Cooper (Golden Retriever) and Cody (German Shorthaired Pointer).  Our children are currently attending University at Virginia Tech and Florida State University.

We deeply desire to provide an extraordinary Vacation Rental Experience for our guests. The Cabin at Spring Creek Preserve is sanctuary we created for guests to be enveloped in an authentic Blue Ridge Mountain Experience; where the unspoiled natural landscapes compliment the thoughtfully crafted built environments to become containers for guests to connect with nature and depart feeling renewed, reenergized, and inspired.

We have a deep yearning to establish a vacation rental business that aligned with our belief in a sustainability framework that measures success by its impact on People, Planet, and Profits.  Based on our years of experience in the region, and our love for travel, we believed that we had ideas for vacation rentals that provide enriching guest experiences that extend beyond the footprint of a “house to book”.

Why they chose this property

As John Muir stated a long time ago…. “The Mountains are calling and I must go”!  Upon experiencing the Blue Ridge Mountains for the first time, many of us become instantly enchanted and have a story to share of why we are attracted to Western North Carolina.

Let’s begin with what keeps drawing us deeper into the mountains…. Our hearts and souls are at peace, or perhaps better stated – they are awakened when we are in the mountains.  There is a certain feeling when we are present and surrounded by the ancient Blue Ridge of the Appalachian range.  The two best words, for us, that describe the feeling are “abundance” and “possibilities”.

Although we have a home in Asheville, we would find ourselves consistently “out in the mountains”.  After several years of exploration, we desired to find a retreat that was within an hour driving distance to Asheville that would enable our family to be “amongst the mountains” and enveloped in nature.

We imagined a property that would provide a world of possibilities – land for a small farm, a family camp to explore nature, a canvas for our inner-child to create and play, and of course a place to become grounded and depart feeling renewed, reenergized, and inspired!  We also had a calling to operate a successful vacation rental business that provides guests with an authentic mountain experience.

Our original intentions were to have our family retreat and vacation rental to be located on separate properties …. That is until we stumbled upon the private rich cove mountain forest known as Spring Creek Preserve.  The more time that we spent exploring Spring Creek Preserve, the more we concluded that our dreams were converging...and this is how The Retreats at Spring Creek Preserve came to be!

We have a strong sense that we were called to the land....we believe the land picked us to be in collaboration with it, as well as others, for the purpose of bringing forth its intentions to be experienced.

What makes this property unique

The Cabin at Spring Creek Preserve is so much more that booking an amazing cabin. Nestled on 80 acres within a private Rich Cove Forest you will find a secluded getaway to escape from the ordinary for an immersive nature experience.

Immerse yourself in a private adventure unlike any other. The property unfolds as a natural wonderland, boasting montane forested slopes, finger ridges, abundant rock outcrops, multiple boulder fields, and cascading streams ascending from the shady cove.

Wind your way through the forest along a completely private, professionally designed network of more than five (5) miles of trails. As you climb to sit on a large moss-covered boulder mother nature's awe-inspiring masterpiece unfolds before you - a flash of movement catches your eye - as a majestic red-tail hawk flies through the tree canopy.

As you reflect on what you just experienced you continue your walk to a Tree Net suspended over a bold stream. Plan time for an afternoon nap, as the rushing water provides a natural lullaby. Renewed and invigorated by your pristine escape, you return to The Cabin, in awe at the day you've spent in your private forest sanctuary.

From the minute you step foot on the property, to your last look as you drive away, The Cabin At Spring Creek Retreat is the quintessential mountain escape – bringing your mountain dreams to life.
