About this property
Farm Stay - Spend the night in a converted grain silo on a working tree farm!
Welcome to our silo, The Traveler. We love what we do and want to share it with others. We grow container and field grown trees, as well as blueberry and blackberry plants. When the berries are in season, feel free to pick some for your enjoyment. This silo was used on a cattle farm in Social Circle to store grain. Everything in it has a story that you can read about in a book provided.
We have tried to mix old with new to make it feel like home.
When you enter the silo, the open floor plan has a very comfy king size bed with high quality linens, living area, dining area and a kitchenette. The full size refrigerator will easily accommodate food and drinks of your choice. There are ice trays in the freezer for your use. You will also find a small microwave and single serve coffee maker with a variety of coffee pods, creamer and sugar for your pleasure. The television is a Smart TV so you can log into your account on any of the apps to watch your favorite shows. The spacious bathroom provides plenty of room for getting ready. We offer premium towels and wash cloths, as well as "makeup" wash cloths. The large shower has Native brand shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. There's hair dryer with attachments, as well as an iron and ironing board.
Enjoy the evening breeze sitting on the patio with the smokeless fire pit listening to the birds chirping.
We look forward to your stay on our farm!
POINTS OF INTEREST:
Monroe:
Historic Downtown Monroe is 10 minutes away. Monroe is well known for antiquing and local shopping. There is everything from boutiques to a local brewery located downtown. On the first Friday of each month there is a concert on the Town Green. There’s also a Splash Pad located at the Town Green and the children love it! Monroe is the perfect quaint little town for strolling down the sidewalks, taking a break in one of the hammocks in the little park beside the Welcome Center or doing some shopping. There are so many places to see and enjoy a meal but here’s a list of some of our favorites:
Shopping:
Hodge Podge Antiques (our favorite)
Vintage Revival Antiques
The Cotton Depot Antiques
The Armory Christian Book Store
The Story Shop
Monroe Mercantile
Epiphany Boutique
Eating:
The Blue Rooster Bakery & Eatery (bakery but
also known for their chicken salad)
Local Republic (burgers)
Your Pie
Scoops (ice cream)
Southern Brewing Co.
High Voltage Wings & Strange Taco
Pot Luck Cafe (breakfast and lunch only – a local
favorite)
The Brown Fig (tapas style; only open for dinner)
Los 3 Amigos (our favorite – ask for Carmen!)
Butter’d Udder (Publix shopping center. This is
the best ice cream ever! It’s made fresh daily
with only real, fresh ingredients with no food
dyes or artificial flavors!)
Longhorn Steakhouse
Oriental Garden (next to Home Depot)
Covington:
Historic Downtown Covington is 20 minutes south of our farm. It’s most popular for the filming of Vampire Diaries. You can take a tour of “Mystic Falls” then enjoy some shopping and eating on the square. If you happen to be visiting during the 4th of July, the fireworks show is spectacular!

Bread & Butter
City Pharmacy (only open for dinner)
The Social Goat (live music on weekends)
Your Pie (pizza)
Amici (pizza)
Scoops (ice cream)
Social Circle:
Historic Social Circle is a short 10 minute drive. Our favorite place to go in town is the local Ace Hardware! The owners are second generation and operate their business the same way the parents did when they ran it. Not only is it a hardware store but they have a great gift department. East of Social Circle is Hard Labor Creek State Park and Hard Labor Creek Regional Reservoir.
Madison:
Historic Downtown Madison is a beautiful scenic 30 minute drive East. There is so much history in Madison. It’s known as the town that Sherman spared. The historic homes in town are definitely something to see!

Athens:
Athens is known as the home of the Bulldogs! GO DAWGS! The University of Georgia is located in downtown Athens. If you like flowers, you’ll find the State Botanical Gardens just a short drive from downtown. There are tons of places to shop and eat around town! If you’re hungry for an awesome steak dinner, we recommend The Porterhouse Grill. Be sure to make a reservation because they stay pretty busy! For live entertainment, check the schedule for the Classic Center. They have everything from concerts to hockey games. The Georgia Theater is a great place to catch a show!
If you’re up for seeing some animals, just outside of town is Bear Hollow Zoo. The Five Points area of town has some great local shops and eateries too. Our two favorites are Marker 7 (seafood) and Fully Loaded Pizza Kitchen. It’s also the home of Jittery Joe’s Coffee!
Lake Oconee:
The lake is a nice 45 min drive. There are quite a few great places to enjoy lunch and dinner. The Silver Moon is a local favorite! They open at 4:00p.m. so get there early or you'll have a wait. If you end up with a wait, their bartenders are the best with making your favorite libation! Lake Oconee Bistro has great food. The Ritz Carlton has a couple of really good restaurants too.
