Ojo House is a charming midcentury modern and vintage-styled home set in the delightful neighborhood of Rein’s Beach, Monte Rio – almost to Duncan’s Mills. Named for the “eyes” of wildlife and your traveling fur babies – always curious and wondering “what’s next?” From deer grazing in the adjacent field, songbirds and owls, to otters at the river and foxes watching from a distance, Ojo House is nestled in the coastal zone of Sonoma County, with birdhouses and pollinator-friendly plants throughout the yard for maximum wildlife viewing.
You’ll love the individually collected vintage and hand-crafted décor throughout the house. Each item speaks to the fun and quirky nature of the home and community! The main floor includes the living room, kitchen, bedroom, full bathroom, and steps down to a bonus room/office/laundry room. Upstairs, 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom are off the hallway and landing overlooking the living room. Preserved from the original 1972 construction, open redwood beams and stairs and stained glass kitchen cabinets show off unique workmanship.
Mature rose bushes, hydrangeas, and wisteria bring fragrance and color to the property – feel free to cut a few to bring inside. Lounge in the hot tub with a glass of wine, taking in the magnificent views of the rolling Sonoma County hills or wander down to the Russian River for a dip. The towns of Duncan’s Mills and Jenner are minutes away with excellent restaurants, shopping, and wine tasting opportunities. Coastal beaches, tidepools, exquisite sunsets, and hikes along the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean await.

Location: Ojo House is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park only in the driveway and space directly in front of the yard and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community! Ojo House is in a rural community, but sound carries so we ask guests to be aware of noise – especially once quiet time starts at 10 pm. The road to the home is one lane in sports and you may need to stop/pull over for oncoming traffic. There are deer and other wildlife on the roads and in the area. We recommend taking the road slowly.
Stairs and Paths: There are 4 steps to the front deck and entrance to the house. There is just one step from the back deck to the yard level. And there is one flight of stairs inside the house from the living room to the 2 upstairs bedrooms and bathroom.
