About this property
Allergy-friendly, historic home
Charming, newly renovated downstairs apartment with a king bedroom, a queen bedroom, everything you need to work, cook, clean, and rest. Our American Foursquare was renovated in 2023 and is located in the historic and sought-after Summerville neighborhood, known for its eclectic architecture. It has antique doorknobs, period appropriate lighting, original old-growth forest flooring, and a tiny art gallery for your enjoyment.
Both bedrooms have decorative fireplaces with original tile, warm hardwood floors, and Wire cutter-recommended mattresses and pillows.
There are two lovely coffee shops within a mile where you can grab a bite and sit or work a while. Across from each of those are restaurants with great cocktails, food, and atmosphere. There is plenty of on-site parking, and the neighbors are quiet.
It saddens us to say that no animals of any kind are permitted on the property. We are aware of the value of service animals as well as the happiness of owning one. However, the home is strictly allergy-free because the host is allergic to animal hair and dander. There are no exceptions to this rule, as any animal on the property poses a severe health hazard to the host.
You have access to the entire downstairs unit, the back deck, and the front porch. On-site parking is plentiful and free. Street parking is free. There is a public bus stop about .75 miles away, but it comes infrequently. You'll need a car when staying at this property.
We are just around the corner and are frequently nearby. Don't hesitate to text, email, or call with questions.
The kitchen cabinets are all higher than usual. Tall people may love this. Short people, like myself, may need a foot stool.
We also ask that you not use the butcher block counter to cut on, as it is 105 years old, and we hope to get more time from it.
The windows are single-pane, hand blown, antique glass. Please do not open them.
The house sits on a busy road, and some traffic noise comes in through the windows. Some guests find the house quiet; others find the noise a bit loud. Each bedroom has a white noise machine to help mitigate this.
Every bed and all pillows have allergy encasements, and all bed linens are washed between guests. There are two firm pillows and two squishy pillows on each bed.

About the host
Your host
We are both in the tech field and love to garden. He makes the dirt through composting, and I grow the veggies, herbs, and flowers. I was born in Augusta, and I graduated from Augusta State University. I moved away for grad school, but family often draws me home. We bought this house to be able to visit my mom more, and we are happy to be able to share it with you!
Why they chose this property
This is our home away from home, and we tried to make it as comfortable and functional as possible while preserving its gorgeous, historical details. It has everything you need and a lot of what you'll want in a place that's more than a bed.
What makes this property unique
A king-size bed in a king-sized bedroom gives you plenty of room to stretch out. We have dressers for your clothes, closets if you need them, a fully stocked kitchen, modern plumbing, a washer and dryer and everything that we can think of that you'll need. You slide right into place here.
