Still wonderful after 32+ years

Perfect setting, large property with private beach and dock, beautiful views, comfortable, well-appointed cabin. Work done to improve entry to lake helpful (but still challenging for older vacationers). We were there during a stretch of great weather, not always the case. Thank you Rissbern and Rangeley! See you next year!

Enjoyable as ever

It was a rainy week, but cozy cabin with wood-burning stove brightened things. Coffee down on the dock at sunrise, salute to the sun at sunset, brilliant stars on a clear night. Nothing to match Rangeley. And office staff always helpful -- from supplying blankets and a hair dryer on a moment's notice to setting cabin up to make it accessible for me.

If you like Privacy and a great dock with swimming- this camp is for you. We have been coming to this camp for 12 years and have never had a bad experience. Recent renovations make the camp even better!

What we liked most about this cottage was the large lot, isolated privacy and it was pet friendly. We brought our canoe and the low grade into the water made it easy to launch. The screened in porch was great although it needs a little repair. This cottage is rustic but was fine for just my husband, myself and our golden retriever. I do suggest bringing a fan if you are staying during a major heat wave as we did.

Great vacation spot

Perfect spot in between the shore and the island. Nice cabin and great privacy. The only thing I suggest is bring a weed wacker. The grass was literally taller than my kids.

15 years and counting...

Wonderful. Large private camp and lake access. Work done recently on stairs in front and back and site leveled a bit. Wonder what will go into the lower level that is being built out. In-law apartment? Extra room and bath? Great COVID protocols in place now -- all bedding cleaned between rentals. Only way camp could be improved -- gas grill rather than charcoal; steps into lake so anyone with only two legs rather than 4 who is also over 60 can get into water safely. Those rocks and steep entry are tough.

Great location. Privacy and dock are the best. Western facing so the sunsets are amazing. New additions of landscaping is great! Dock is large and big enough for a boat. Needs some work but it's safe for jumping off for a swim and nice sandy beach. Great spot!!!!

This is our second year renting this camp. Enjoyed the updates. New foundation so camp sits higher. Love the screened in porch where we ate dinner. New updated drive around driveway. Plenty of space to park boat trailer after launching at town park. Great pizza at Furbush Brew House! The vintage wooden dock is very sturdy and great during windy days. Lots of loons at night. Six swam by the dock out last day and there was a double rainbow that morning! Don't miss the eagles nest on the island! And Cascade Gorge is a close hike. Thank you for letting us bring our dog! He loved the dock also!

Another wonderful week at Rissbern II

Even the tornado and loss of power for 24 hours couldn't mar this week. Every day had a good chunk of time when it was sunny and the lake was calm and swimmable. Beautiful misty sunrises and brilliant sunsets from dock. Until next year!

Rissbern II

This was our 8th year renting Rissbern II. The privacy, location and water area cannot be beat. The camp has everything you could need and is very comfortable. Thank you to the owner for allowing us to rent this wonderful camp!

One suggestion to make Rissbern II even more delightful

The charcoal barbecue is flimsy and tough to use -- how great to have a gas grill, even the least expensive one, available instead!

Even better than before!

Very nice updates since last year -- new, comfy seating in the living room, a new stove, new dishware and utensils. The grounds were beautifully groomed. A perfect setting for a wonderful week in the mountains.

2018 Rissbern II

Rissbern II has become a family tradition that we look forward to every year. It is our 7th year and we find the location one of the best spots on Rangeley Lake. What we love about the location: 1) Privacy - I love the fact you don't have another camp on top of you. 2) The Dock - Hands down the best feature of the location. The size and the ability to safely swim off of it makes it a great feature. 3) Great Sunsets - West Facing and the Dock go hand in hand 4) Far away from the road - you may hear an occasional logging truck but nothing else. What are negatives: 1) The living room furniture - musty smelling - may need to be cleaned or replaced 2) Larger Refrigerator (hard to stay a week and pack all the food into it). 3) Back Porch flood light - may help with getting down to the dock at night. We love this place and the items that they have replaced or updated over the past couple of years have made it even better. Thank you.

GREAT cabin and setting

We love this rental and have been there about 12 years. Only reason 4 and not 5 stars is fact LR furniture is getting a little shabby (and even "icky"). Some sturdy fitted slipcovers on sofas would be good and not ruinously expensive; new springs on rocker in lr would be nice -- totally unusuable now due to sharp springs in seat that POKE.
