Could not have asked for a better place!

We were looking for a cabin stay for a little getaway and were thrilled with the Spruce Cabin! Walking in, it immediately smelled great and was so clean. We had great communication with the innkeepers who were so kind, helpful and thoughtful! The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the bed! There were extra little touches everywhere that made this a phenomenal experience! Owen and Haley were the innkeepers on site but I also spoke with Bill and everyone was great. Can’t wait to book again!

A Fantastic Getaway

Our stay at the Spruce Cabin @ Woodshed Lodge was the perfect weekend away. The tiny cabin was adorable, and came with all the necessary accoutrements (kitchen, heaters, tv, wood stove, fireplace, king size bed). The management team was incredibly attentive and kind, and went above and beyond in ensuring we had all we needed for a memorable experience. Thanks so much team, we will be back!

Great place nice and cozy

I had a great time it’s kinda far from anything but that’s the point of getting away we all had a good time. I appreciate all their understanding on checking out late. Will do it again for sure.

About the host

Host profile image
We've spent most of our adulthood providing memorable stays and adventures to guests all over the world on boats/yachts and in various short term rental properties both residential and commercial. We love the history and rustic charm of the Woodshed property and are excited to have the opportunity to continue the legacy of this special place.

Why they chose this property

Most folks know that Jay Peak offers the deepest, fluffiest snow in the NorthEast and arguably the best wooded terrain and sidecountry/backcountry as well. What some don't realize is that the Town of Jay - despite only having about 500 permanent residents - has a rich history and a thriving community. As does the town of Montgomery (~1200 residents) just over the other side of the mountain pass. It's a really small but really special area and a great community to be a part of.

What makes this property unique

The Woodshed Lodge was originally constructed in 1904 as a farmhouse for the Sargents family. It was converted to a guest house in the 1950's has been hosting skiers and adventurers for roughly 70 years, with Karla and Bill at the wheel since early 2021. Much of the original / historic charm and character (and quirks!) is still present, though we continually update the comfort systems and safety systems as needed. We've also undertaken some major landscaping projects to improve the yard and to better facilitate weddings and events.
