Girlfriend Getaway

Thank you for the perfect setting for a little ‘get together’ with friends! We enjoyed the location with a gorgeous view of the river. Loved watching the ships go by! The kitchen met all of our needs and the island is both beautiful and convenient! Would definitely stay again!

Quaint cottage

Great stay

My family and I enjoyed our late fall getaway to Cape Vincent using this quaint cottage as homebase. The rental, above a garage, is spacious and as depicted in the photos. It was clean, comfortable and cozy with a nice view of the lake. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, plates, cups, pots and pans. Would have been nice touch if it had been stocked with a few basics (coffee, tea etc) instead of just leftovers from prior guests (eg near empty coffee tin) esp since grocery was closed by the time we arrived in town so there was no where to pick up food (thankfully there was stîll one restaurant was open). Would enjoy coming back to visit in summer!

Can’t wait to go back.

We really enjoyed our stay. This place was very clean, updated, with such a great view. My husband and I have always loved Cape Vincent, and would definitely rent this location again. I only wish that their was enough comfortable seating for 4 people in the living. You won’t be disappointed if you rent this property. Beautiful house, property and view.

Beautiful Apartment

The Care Away apartment is beautiful!! We arrived to a sparkling clean, wonderfully equipped place for our get-away. Everything was supplied which meant we didn't have to take towels or linens with us. While we are grown, it was as if my husband and I were kids because we got to stay in the loft, which was totally fun! The view from the living room was amazing and watching the ships pass by, and the most spectacular St. Lawrence river sunsets was incredible. The apartment is situated away from the center of town, but it's just a short distance to find a market, coffee shop and the local brewery. It's also close to Clayton and Alexandria Bay, where there are so many things available for you to do. Sarah was great to talk to, and we were pleasantly surprised that upon check out we just needed to lock up and head out. (with many rentals like this you are required to clean up, take out trash etc). It's a place we'd visit again and again. Thank you Neale and Mary for opening up your beautiful apartment so people can enjoy all that the wonderful Thousand Islands Region has to offer! We will definitely be back!

A wonderful place

This apartment is beautiful, clean and fairly well equipped. The view of the sunset every night is spectacular. The neighborhood is walkable, and it’s a very short ride into town. We would stay here again... without kids. The only critique is that it’s not as kid-friendly as the listing made it sound. We had a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old with us. Having things like a pack n play and high chair to offer would have been great, but not necessary. The only thing we were desperate for was a baby gate for the stairs.

❤ our home away from home

We loved this place, always happy to return after a day's outting. It was a delight to meet Sarah and Tom and grateful to Mary and Neal (the owners) to share this place with others unfortunate not to live here. The early mornings were a peaceful delight and the last lights of the night enchanting and breath-taking. We do hope to return. Absolutely loved Cape Vincent and the 1000 Islands region. Heat didn’t work when it was 13F outside. Mold in bathrooms

This is my first time using evolve. Their team did nothing to assist us with the issues we’ve faced. It was outright horrible experience. We have had to check out of the place in the middle of the night because the house wouldn’t heat up and the WiFi stopped working. We struggled the entire day trying to get the heat running, we thought it would take some tome to heat up but no. The temperature Outside was 13F so there was no way we could’ve survived. On top of this, The place was a small out-house which was not mentioned in the details. The interiors were completely different from what has been shown in the pictures. The attic is way too small for adults. The couch was beyond cheap, it didn’t sit even two people comfortably. The coffee pot was very dirty & stinky, I’m not sure how long it was left that way for. The comforter in the bedroom had stains underside. The bathroom smelled of mold in the shower which left me with severe allergy. On top of that, the house had ridiculous rules such as replace any used household items, clean the counter with windex, etc etc. it doesn’t feel comfortable if we have to keep replacing anything that we use (they don’t cost a dime ) & if we have to clean up the house to minuscule details - why does it even have cleaning fee that way? I’ve been using VRBO for quite some time & I’ve not had such issues before. I was directed to this Evolve from vrbo after contacting them about some questions I’ve had. It’s not very convenient to have to pack everything & leave in the middle of the night with snow at later in the night. Manager's Response: Nina, thank you for your review. We apologize that your experience with us at Evolve was less than perfect, as we are constantly striving to make vacation rental easy for everyone. We will address your concerns with the necessary teams to ensure this does not recur with future travelers. Additionally, the homeowner has asked us to pass along the following response: We are sorry to see such an unhappy guest. We immediately had someone check the furnace upon receiving your email and the professional said there was no issue. However, since you seemed to have an issue with the thermostat operation, we now have instructions posted for future guests. We also have a local rental manager for guests to contact with any issues, but they never received a call from you. Unfortunately, we have no control of the WiFi going out. The furniture in the apartment has recently been changed due to wear by previous guests; the couch, chair, and bed are new and not reflected in the photos yet, but we are working to update our photos as soon as possible. We are sorry to see that these new items did not meet your standards. Individuals are not asked to replace household items, but rather to let us know if something runs out so we can replace it. We ask guests to use Windex on the granite countertops to protect them from damage. I will look into your other concerns with my property manager." Thank you for your feedback and we hope you'll give us another chance in the future. Best, the Evolve Team

Love this place

We have stayed here twice and will be returning in April this year. The pictures do not do it justice, it’s much nicer. However, Just a few Things I would add...an iron/ironing board would be lovely, a full length mirror (we had a girls weekend and it was challenging lol) and although watching TV is the last thing you’d want to do I would have a larger TV for rainy days. Still my favorite place to stay though. Can’t wait to get there.

Beautiful Cozy home with Stunning Views

This was like our Fall Getaway and we were glad Fall was late this season. We witnessed beautiful colors around Cape Vincent and Clayton. The house was perfectly decorated and built to accomadate Family of 4 .My boys aged 11 and 7ys loved their Loft space .The house had everything you need. Dvds, books , we got our roku and kids watched their netflix shows, they have dishes, cutlery, pans if you wanted to cook. There was extra bedding in the closets. It was veryy cold so we didnt venture out much , just relaxed at home and enjoyed the lovely space they have created..We walked acroos the deck with coffe to watch the ships go by..We definitely want to be back in warmer months to enjoy the outdoors more and beauty of this place.

Fabulous Getaway!

This is a lovely apartment that offers everything we needed to relax and enjoy the Seaway. The view and easy walk across the road to the dock created wonderful days of ship watching, walks and opportunities for great photography. This is a quiet area on a dead end road but is a short drive to restaurants and markets. Sarah was so lovely to us and I cannot wait to return next year for another peaceful and beautiful vacation in a gorgeous apartment.

Was nice stay and that quiet area

It was clean and cozy place in a quite area. We had very pleasant stay in many ways. Kitchen was very convenient.. every was equipped except a strainer. The reason I give four stars we did not feel comfortable with the mattress in the bedroom which was too soft so that one person moves around the other person can be affected by the movement in the mattress. And also there was a kind of scent that I do not like from duvet. As a result I could not sleep much. Though overall we had quite good time there. Thank you!

Best place ever! The pictures are nice, but the real thing is even better! Beautiful landscaping!

This place was immaculate! Beautiful kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom. Everything looked new. The bed was very comfortable and there was a loft with room for two more guests. It was a short walk along the St. Lawrence River to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse. This property is right across the road from the river with a deck for use right on the water's edge. We saw MANY freighters moving up and down the river. This was a great base for a lot of activities. Cape Vincent was just 5 minutes down the road. The owners happened to be in town (their house is on the same property) and were helpful with picking a restaurant and different attractions. It was a quiet and peaceful place that easily accommodated my husband, myself and my adult daughter. Take your bikes, kayaks, and running shoes. Lots of historical sites all within 30-45 minutes of the home. We have used HomeAway/VRBO many times and this rental was one of the BEST!

Beautiful spot and clean place.

The apartment is above a garage and was very neat and clean when we arrived. The appliances are new and the bathroom updated. The bed was comfy and the tv has Netflix access. However this house did not have access to the water as the description indicated. The porch and views were nice, just with there was some way to get in the water safely! The kitchen could use some more supplies like cutting board and knives and dish towels. We made do though! Overall a good experience.

Enjoyed our stay there, our second time there.

very enjoyable. Sara is friendly and came to water new plantings. It really is a relaxing place to be and you can visit Canada, a short ferry ride there from Cape Vincent or the bridge at I 81 over the many islands. I would suggest a new frying pan as the handle is loose , a large carving knife and a casserole dish.

Perfect space!

We were so impressed with the property. The location was beautiful. The views across the river and sunsets were amazing! Our granddaughters loved their space in the loft. The lot was gorgeous with fireflies and a cute little fawn that came to visit one morning. The fire pit was perfect for hot dogs and smores. We enjoyed the walk to Tibbets Point lighthouse and the end of the road. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, towels, a comfortable bedroom with a queen bed, and great appliances. I have suggested this vacation home to everyone I know. This was key for our perfect vacation of the 1000 Islands. Sara and Tom were great

Cozy, clean & convenient

We enjoyed our stay at this property on the St. Lawrence River. Check in was convenient and the rental was exactly as I expected it. The kitchen had everything we needed including a small supply or paper towels, dish soap, coffee filters and paper plates. The mattress in the bedroom was very comfortable. There's a little view from the windows facing the river, but coffee on the deck on the river across the street is amazing! Overall a great stay and Cape Vincent is a walk-able distance. In Cape Vincent we enjoyed the French Festival, dinner and breakfast at The Coal Docks Restaurant and Bar, coffee at Cup of Joy Cafe and picked up everything we needed at the French Towne Market.

Excellent area, beautiful sites.

Gorgeous place, interior very well done. Hardwood floors and granite countertops. Very comfy couches and lazy boy, and loaded with all the necessities. Windows looking directly to the river was a nice touch. Great customer service from local contacts and owner! 4/5 mainly bc the bed was stiff and my fiancé and I had a difficult time sleeping on it.

Pictures do no justice

This place is awesome but I just wish they would update these pictures. It’s much more beautiful, and the bedroom is nothing like this picture, it’s much much nicer. (A real bed with frame and dressers) Going back in September, can’t wait!!

Calm and Lovely

This property is simply stunning. The temperature of the spaceis easily adjusted by a thermostat; the shower is as warm or as cold as you'd like; the kitchen has all new appliances and is stocked with basic cookware; the bed is cozy and comfortable; the loft space is fun... The view is breathtaking - you see Canada clearly across the river with an amazing landscape of windmills which, with the right attitude, are mesmerizing. We went in the cold months and the property was 'just' isolated enough where we felt like we got 'away' which was our goal. However, you could drive east for a short drive and end up in Clayton or Alex Bay, and everything in between. The property is a three-minute drive from the Cape Winery. We actually walked there for fun. We also walked to Tibbet's Point, which is a 20-minute walk to the west and has a great old lighthouse. We went as a couple and it was very romantic, but we also discussed that it would be a great place to bring kids. Highly recommend!
