About this property

3 apartments w multiple beds with a shared outdoor kitchen and EPIC lake view

Come stay in a home that is built to waste nothing. Go to the Yoga Forest next door, or drink local coffee roasted by our other neighbor in our new outdoor kitchen. It is high up with a ridiculous view of the lake which is a super volcano crater. We have an Earthship home available for short or long-term rental. The home is at the top of a hill overlooking the gorgeous Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. This listing is for the whole property. If other Cabanas are rented will deduct from this price 25%. There are many towns on the lake, but San Marcos is a spiritual retreat hub. There are several yoga schools and meditation schools here, lots of holistic healers and massage therapists, and herb classes here. San Marcos is an indigenous Maya village with many ex-pats from all over the world.

Our property includes coffee plants and many fruit trees. We also have a guard onsite security, and catering to your every need. The maid comes and does laundry on demand and cleans on demand for a few bucks. This Permaculture farm has aquaponics, chickens, and tons of coffee and fruit trees. We are getting the systems going, so the abundance is just beginning. Soon you will pluck grapes while showering! There is a hot shower, internet, and electricity, filtered mountain water, and a beautiful shared kitchen. The cabin has a gas stove, and outdoor kitchen (common area). There are wet and dry compost toilets available. Since the temperature is pretty moderate all year round, there's not really a need for air conditioning. Some nights can be a little bit chilly, but we have some space heaters available.

Also, it's important to know that you will have to walk for about 5-10 minutes off the main road to get up to our place. The road doesn't go all the way up. You can take tuk-tuk (taxi) to the end of the road. (You will need flashlights/headlamps for the walk at night!) To get to other towns on the lake, you take a public water taxi. San Marcos is a small village, but there are some great restaurants as we get a fair number of tourists that come through. This is an excellent rental for adventurous backpacker types! This cabin was built by the famous Earthship Team. Occasionally other guests may use the common areas. We have staff to help you get comfy. San Marcos is a spiritual community in the Mayan highlands of Lake Atitlan.

There are not really cars around here, but there are little 3 wheeled Tuk Tuks that will take you anywhere you do not want to walk. A short boat ride from here is San Pedro where you can ride horses or visit nightlife. It is rugged and you should be in decent shape.

Guest Access

You get a cabin, and have access to a bath, shower, toilet, etc. Pretty much the land is accessible but steep so bring good shoes! Interaction with Guests.

The Neighborhood. San Marcos is a spiritual community in the Mayan highlands of Lake Atitlan. Getting Around, There are not really cars around here, but there are little 3-wheeled Tuk Tuks that will take you anywhere you do not want to walk. A short boat ride from here is San Pedro where you can ride horses or visit night life. Other Things to Note. It is rugged and a steep climb. You should be in decent shape and not have a pacemaker or anything. House Rules: Be respectful. This is in a Maya village - please be considerate of their more modest dress and customs. No super loud parties.

unique property with beautiful view of lake

This place is perfect for travelers who are adventurous and like to stay in places that aren't ordinary. It's a hike up to the house, so best for people who are in shape and don't have accessibility issues. Charming apartment, lovely outdoor kitchen w/ gorgeous view of Lake Atitlan and the surrounding volcanoes. Lots of fruit trees, and great experience in nature. Crystals in outdoor tub are cool too.
