We are a multi-faceted, food-loving couple who absolutely loves the real OAXACA!
Ricardo: Former journo for big media. Lived all over the Americas since 2015. Passionate about anthropology/art in all of its forms. He studied geology–but cooking & photo drive him today. PT-BR :)
Margot: Creative redhead discovering new flavors. Worked for a niche fashion house in Antwerp for a while and now living the moment. Elle parle français–en nederlands :)

Why they chose this property
We love this section of the neighborhood of Reforma for two main reasons:
1) It's proximity to Jalatlaco and the north sector of Oaxaca's city center without the buzzling chaos that characterizes it and,
2) Because you have all the services you need within a five-block radius from Casita Petate.
The streets in the area have plenty of trees and are very safe and walkable. The vicinity is so great that we even live in another apartment located in the same property :)
You can be rest assured that you'll enjoy your time at Casita Petate – we'll definitely make it as special as this location is for us.

What makes this property unique
We decided to call our property Casita Petate for two reasons:
1) There are so many detached and somewhat artificial properties available for visitors here – and we made it a purpose to not become part of that trend. Instead, we wanted to have a peaceful, clean, tidy, modern-yet-rustic, minimalist-but-cozy, apartment with a 100% Oaxacan environment for guests to enjoy while visiting the city of Oaxaca. That's how we came up with Casita.
2) And Petate is essentially a pre-Columbian carpet, which was used for many purposes many many years before the Spanish conquest struck this region. And, precisely because of its natural fabric made of tule (that you'll experience all over the apartment) and its crisp essence, we made it the backbone of our color palette and design :)
