About this property

Experience Cleveland through a unique stay at The Stepp House, a landmark building located in the Superior Arts Historical District of the greater downtown area. A short distance to Cleveland's top destinations: 4 blocks to CSU, 1 mile to Rock Hall, 1.5 to the Browns Stadium, 1.4 to Progressive Field, 2 miles to The Flats, 3 miles to Cleveland Clinic; 4 miles to CWRU, the Museum of Art, Ohio City, or Tremont; 5 miles to Little Italy or MetroHealth, and 6 miles to the zoo. You'll have nearly 3,000 square feet to stretch out in, with spacious accommodations to sleep 12 throughout 4 private suites each boasting it's own full kitchen, full bath, and temperature control. Two of the beds are sofa sleepers, but this is not your granny's hide-a-bed. One is a West Elm with a Leggett & Platt sleeper system and the other is a Leah 8" Slumber Air by La-Z-boy. Washer and dryer available on site. Fitness facility is coming soon, opening in October 2024 in the building next door. The owners/hosts are available 24/7 next door while we continue to expand amenities throughout three adjacent buildings on the street. Off-street parking is available, as well as a huge grassy lot behind the building for fun family time outdoors or BBQ'ing (we supply the grill at your request). Interested in bike or scooter rentals? Our location is near many pick-up sites and your hosts will gladly help you locate these during your stay.

Cleveland trip;
This was a gorgeous home that perfectly suited our familly with various age grown children. Everyone was comfortable and had their own space to sleep and shower. But the top floor was perfect to accommodate all enjoying one another. Stephanie was an amazing host and helpful in every way. We highly recommend and will book agaiin!

Perfect place for our wedding stay!
Our family of 9 gathered for the week of our son's wedding, and this house served us almost perfectly. Every guest oohed and aahed as they walked into the garden and then the house itself -- it is large and airy and pretty. The kitchen was wonderful for arranging 20 flower centerpieces, and preparing a brunch for 50 -- as well as cooking lots of meals for ourselves during the week. The yard had grass for lawn games, a pretty pond, and a fire pit where many gathered at night. Groups of people sat around the huge table in the dining room, relaxed on the couches of the living room, and always hung around the welcoming kitchen. The owners were available and helpful from the night we arrived. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of storage space for a lot of guests at once. Parking was plentiful right in the semicircle driveway out front and the air-conditioning kept the house cool even in August. The master bedroom is stunning. Gatherings of groups more than 15 require an extra deposit, but it was little trouble to keep the place tidy and we received our refund promptly. We would return to this house again when we visit Albuquerque.

Albuqurque Vacation
We stayed here for the month of April 2014. The house was charming. I can't rave enough about this home. A definite 10 out of 10 – clean, safe, quiet, plenty of room, tastefully furnished (a few pieces of furniture need reupholstering but this place is so large and comfortable that you will not need to use them), while maintaining a clearly relaxing feeling of being home. The gourmet kitchen and fully equipped with necessities to make your stay great. It is a short (10 min) walk to a variety of really nice restaurants and shops (Knob Hill, Central Ave.), but far enough from the commercial strip to be very quiet. The grounds around the house are an amazing oasis with a lawn, waterfall, a pond with coy and four turtles. Spending time here is relaxing after a day of touring. Thanks Stephanie and Mike for making our home away from home SPECTACULAR!!

Great house
The house is beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped. The bonus is the location - walking distance from restaurants, shops, etc. and very close to the airport.

Great house for entertaining multiple families
We were unfortunately in town for a funeral but thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. The house was great for entertaining multiple families and the master suite was especially good for couples with young children due to the extra sofa sleeper. The children especially enjoyed the yard with hammock and koi pond. It is so nice to arrive at a VRBO where every detail has been thought of (from the spice cabinet to the stock pots) for a family that loves to cook the kitchen was awesome it even had a cappuccino maker. The house was beautifully decorated and gave me a few ideas of inspiration for my own home (like the antique butcher block table). The owner was very accommodating considering our situation and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thoroughly Enjoyed Our Stay
When I originally considered renting this beautiful house, it was new to VRBO and didn't have any reviews, which is usually a deal-breaker for me. But after a reassuring phone call with the owner, Stephanie, I decided to throw caution to the wind, and book the property for a week in late October. And I'm so glad I did! This house was an oasis of calm and tranquility, especially after a hectic day-tripping adventure! The wonderfully landscaped yard and massive fish pond is truly a site to behold. The waterfall feature at the pond's end was perfect for canceling out the occasional sounds of traffic on Carlisle or the infrequent airplane engine roar (the ABQ Sunport is only minutes away, after all!) The gigantic master bedroom, with its high ceilings and amazing light, was the highlight of the house for me. The spacious kitchen, complete with Wolf stove and solid butcher block table, was my husband's favorite room. Late afternoons were spent relaxing on the patio, watching and feeding the numerous goldfish and elusive turtles. The central location is just blocks to Nob Hill, UNM, and all parts of ABQ and beyond. The privacy wall and gated driveway made us feel safe and secure when we tucked in for the night. Stephanie was extremely attentive, even checking in with me when she was across the country attending a family reunion!! My husband and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, given the opportunity.

Lovely home in Nob Hill area
As you can see from the photos this is really a lovely home. That being said I didn't find it to be a comfortable home. Let me clarify. Absolutely nothing wrong with the house. The yard is spectacular and I spent a lot of time on the patio gazing at the goldfish and the turtles. The home has high steps to get into the house as well as in the house. You step down from the kitchen to the family room or dining room and down a few more steps to the master bedroom. After a few days it was annoying. I also didn't find the family room very comfy. The leather sofa is heavily worn and dirty looking, but the leather side chair was nice. The master bedroom is huge. The bed was comfortable, but I was a bit put off by stained sheets and the scarves over the poster bed were also stained. The master bath was nice, but to take a shower in there was a pain as you had to step over the very high side of the Jacuzzi tub. First time I have ever seen a shower over a Jacuzzi tub. I showered in the guest bathroom. The kitchen was fabulous! Very large and well appointed. I would stay here again just for the yard. The location is close to Nob Hill, Old Town and Up Town and all shopping areas. Lots to do close by. The owners are very nice and are quick to respond to any issues you may have. All in all you will enjoy this home as long as you are aware of some of these things.

Beautiful Home in Great Location
I lived in this wonderful house for nearly five months while in Albuquerque in the spring and summer of 2013. The large beautiful house, the gardens, and the pond -- with resident turtles and goldfish -- make this a truly pleasant experience. Friends who visited usually commented on how peaceful it felt. The house is a short walk and even shorter drive to the cafes, restaurants, microbreweries, galleries, an independent cinema, and shops -- including a food co-op -- in the trendy Nob Hill section of Central Avenue, historic Route 66. The house couldn't be better situated. Stephanie and Mike are great hosts who made my stay enjoyable and memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend this rental.

My husband and I chose Cleveland as our relocation destination in 2019 for this city's access to Lake Erie, the arts, theater, and culture. We live next door to the property and have spent the last 4 years developing this block into an active community. We've met great friends hosting, our last VRBO listing was in 2014 located in New Mexico.

Why they chose this property

We love downtown Cleveland. We rent warehouse space next door to small businesses, including a 3D printing engineer, a Ghostbusters Mini Cooper, and local tourism event planners. We love zipping to downtown games and restaurants in about 5 minutes via bike or scooter.

What makes this property unique

The Mary & Matthew Stepp House is a Cleveland landmark due to it being one of the earliest multi-use buildings in the city, originally hosting a doctor's office and several apartments. It's taken us 4 years to finish it.
