Very Private Seaside Getaway - Excellent WiFi for Remote Work - Lots to Explore

Strong Wifi. Seclusion. Fabulous oceanfront setting. Nothing beats a seaside cottage for a change of scene in summer. Convenient to all Acadia has to offer, or just enjoy the sparkling view out your window across the very private cove out to green-blue islands and to open ocean beyond. There’s plenty to do inside, as well, with games, puzzles, books, and an oversized screened-in porch that maximizes that spectacular view in comfort. Idyllic.

We make cleanliness a priority. We’re committed to providing you a safe and enjoyable vacation experience. Cove’s Edge Seaside Cottage is cleaned and sanitized at every turnover to new industry standards so you can enjoy both comfort and peace of mind. Welcome!

Cove's Edge Seaside Cottage offers you an opportunity to sample all that Acadia National Park has to offer. You can enjoy lobster, chowder, dining out, boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, ocean and freshwater swimming, hiking, walking, bicycling, blueberry picking, birding, garden touring, shopping in quaint boutiques, and more -- or just get some quiet relaxation and reading time. You are surrounded by gorgeous ocean views that you can enjoy from nearly every room in the house. And you are steps away from your own private stretch of beach, where you can enjoy the view out to Maine's famous island-dotted shore, with the Nature Conservancy's Placentia Island in the distance, and Swan's Island just beyond. Every bedroom has an en suite bath. You are less than five minutes' drive from the Acadia National Park trails called Wonderland and Ship's Harbor, which bring you out to gorgeous rocky bluffs along the open ocean and Maine's famous rocky coast. A minute more and you're at Bass Harbor Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse on the U.S. East Coast. In five minutes you’re in Southwest Harbor with ample opportunities for shopping, dining, and boating; in two more minutes you’re hiking Acadia Mountain or swimming in Echo Lake; and in ten minutes you're in Bar Harbor, with its quaint shops, restaurants, whale watching, naturalist boating, sailing, deep-sea diving, Park tours, and many other opportunities.

Cove's Edge Seaside Cottage is a 3-bedroom, 3-bath house right on the water with your own access to a private stretch of pebbled shore, with expansive views of the cove, islands, and open ocean beyond. It has a game room and a relaxing patio in addition to living, kitchen, and dining rooms with high-end, custom finishes in this architect-designed home. It is well suited to accommodate multiple generations or a small group of friends, where you can both enjoy common rooms as well as preserve your privacy. Two separate guests may be staying in the tiny artist's studio in the back yard who do not share your amenities.

Few locations in the United States can compare to the beauty and diversity of Mt. Desert Island (MDI) and Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park and its famous gateway towns are treasured the world over as some of the most beautiful spots “where the mountains meet the sea.” Ocean, lakes, mountains, miles and miles of hiking trails, dedicated bicycling and walking trails, gorgeous countryside, and the towns of Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Bar Harbor provide unlimited opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Come for some much-needed rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation at Cove's Edge Seaside Cottage!

Quiet Seaside Home

Very secluded with private rocky beach access. Great views and opportunities to hike or beachcomb. Close to many amenities--first and foremost, Acadia. A nice place to relax and think without interruption. Cell service varies but WiFi at the house is excellent.

Family vacation

My husband and I have been enjoying MDI in September for years and we wanted to bring our adult sons! We love being on the quiet side although it does add to the driving time for some of the activities. This house has a great kitchen and the screened porch is wonderful! We loved the easy access to the rocky beach and enjoyed walking down there at low tide!

Great secluded Maine experience

Our family loved staying in Duck Cove! The house provided ample space for our family to spread out and have their own space. The house was well stocked for travelers - Joy and Peter thought of most things a traveler would need. The house was clean, neat and well cared for. It was quiet and secluded which is nice after a spending time in the busy streets of Bar Harbor. We enjoyed the yard, beach/cove area, and grill (we grilled our “catch” after a day of fishing and other meals). It is close to Bass Harbor and Southwest Harbor which provides all the necessities (groceries, restaurants (Beal’s vs Thurston’s), and shopping. Thank you Joy and Peter for making sure our every need was addressed. Great stay!!! We would definitely stay here again!!

Fall visit

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was lovely and well maintained. Had everything we needed. Sunrises were beautiful. We travelled with another couple so the layout was perfect where we each had our own space and separate bathrooms. The location is in a quiet neighborhood only a short 20 minute ride to Bar Harbor where it was quite busy. Easy access to many hiking trails in Acadia. There are good choices for restaurants near by in Southwest Harbor, our fave was Hearth & Harbor. Overall a great stay. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful home

This is a really lovely home on the banks of an inlet. There were 5 of us and it was a very good size for our group. Beds are comfortable, and the view out the back is beautiful. One thing that may need attention is the musty smell in the basement. We enjoyed playing ping pong down there, and opened the windows for fresh air, but they might want to consider a dehumidifier. This is a waterfront property, but due to the tides, there are times when the water isn't in the bay. We were a little surprised by the lack of water when we first arrived at low tide, but then we enjoyed watching it come and go. Overall, a good trip. We went to Acadia twice, and especially liked Cadillac Mountain. The crowds were pretty bad, even in September, so we drove over to the Schoodic Peninsula, which is much quieter and just as beautiful. We drove into Bar Harbor twice, but the crowds were bad there too. Fortunately, we found good restaurants and shopping in other areas, so didn't feel like we missed out on anything.

The quiet side of the island

Great location on 'the quiet side of the island'. Close enough to all the sights of MDI, but without the crowds. The house is right on the cove with a great view of the water. There's plenty of room for a family with a large screened porch and a smaller deck off the kitchen. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the hosts were very helpful, responsive and communicative. Well worth a visit!

Even better than you think!

My family and I have stayed in a lot of Maine rentals. Being able to successfully decipher rental listings is still something that eludes me. We booked later than we should have and this was one of the only houses available for a 2-week stretch so we felt we were settling a bit. WE WEREN'T! This house should be booked all summer! This house was great! The pictures really don't do it justice. The grounds are beautiful, the gardens and landscaping magical and that's all before you go down the new wooden staircase to the rocky beach where the pines meet the sea. Easy access for kayaking and paddleboarding or just swimming. It's not a huge beach area, depending on the tide but it's just enough - I spent hours watching the kids play and reading in the sun. Southwest Harbor, the house's closest town center is just enough. Not packed like Bar Harbor you feel like this is your town - It has really good food (Little Notch and Eat-A-Pita (don't be fooled by that name), shops, ice cream (Salt Shop), wine and cheese (Sawyer's Wine) and a small market (Sawyer's). When they say "The way life should be" this is what they mean. Passed Southwest Harbor is a quick drive to Echo Lake and Acadia. Tremont is a great home base from which to explore a really wonderful part of Maine! The house was well equipped with all the pots and pans, great chopping knives, serving dishes, etc you could need. The kids loved the ping pong table in the basement rec room area. The beds could be more comfortable but I think they are new as there were recent improvements/repairs to the house. Note: the shower upstairs in one of the bedrooms did not function as a shower, only a bathtub and bringing more bath towels than the owner supplies wouldn't be a bad idea. The screened in porch was my favorite place! The owners were kind and responsive and very helpful.

Peaceful, comfortable, and private.

The house was spacious enough for everyone to have their own area. The kids loved the ping pong table downstairs and screened in porch was a favorite for me. The yard is gorgeous with mature plants and the house is tucked behind some trees away from the road so it was quite private. The area is very rural but there are a lot of nearby hidden gems. Make sure you check out the Quietside Snacks, a little food truck right on Tremont Rd, just a couple of miles away. And the Bass Harbor lighthouse is only 5 miles down the road, too.

Thank you for a great week! We loved the view from your home and had everything we needed. The hosts were very helpful and answered all of our questions before we arrived. We rented kayaks from Scotty’s Kayaks and enjoyed paddling in the cove. We had plenty of space and the property was clean and well cared for. Everything was perfect- thanks again!

Coveside

We had a lovely week enjoying the beauty of the Cove. We enjoyed just taking in the beauty, the sea air (and fog!) and the wildlife. The house is comfortable and very well stocked. The kitchen is lovely and much better than a typical rental. We’re cooks so we appreciate that:). Joy was completely available and easy to chat with. Lots of quiet corners for a little soace for everyone.

We're already talking about our next trip back to Seal Cove

The cottage on seal cove was super quiet and very clean. I real nice place to stay. Everything we needed and expected was there. We wish we could have stayed longer and would come back in a heartbeat. We did run into a little issue with being there after Columbus Day, which seems to be the semi-official end of the season. We had some trouble finding restaurants closed in the smaller communities (not Bar Harbor).

Diamond Day in Your Future?

As you enjoy your morning coffee from the breakfast nook or screened-porch, the rising sun and wind will create countless glittering diamonds on Duck Cove. At low tide, go down the steps and hunt for shells and be sure to turn right and walk the 1/3 mile to the point for a stunning view. It's a great place to stay. Be sure to ask the owner if she adjusted the temperature on the first floor shower so the hot water is a tad hotter. You'll want that on a chilly Maine morning.
