I love this house, lake, ground. Beautiful & comfortable for large groups in the best place in the world: Chenango County. My second stay in this great house.
The lake camp is a beautiful place with so many thoughtful touches to maximize comfort & fun. The lake area is very lovely & set up for guests to enjoy many activities including just sitting & staring at the water. Peter is a great host for his wonderful home.
This is an amazing adirondack style family camp with all the beautiful features of a 1920's camp but all the modern updates and conveniences. Although the house is large with lots of gathering space, we spent most of our time outside. The landscaping and gardens are breathtaking and the lakefront area is just perfect for relaxing and water activities. Pete is a great host and easy to communicate with, and the bagels were a nice welcoming surprise! Everything is very clean and well maintained. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back!
my family stayed in this lovely home on chenango lake at the end of september. a family reunion/baby shower. my husband and i grew up in norwich and still have family there and we wanted our children and granddaughter to see where we grew up.
the house met our needs perfectly. the bedrooms were spacious, and the beds very comfortable. the three living spaces allowed us to gather around a fire without feeling cramped. the dining table was able to accommodate 13 people easily. the two kitchens were well appointed with cookware, utensils and dishes. we enjoyed evenings at the lake front around the fire pit. the kyacks were enjoyed also!
just 10 minutes from town, it was very peaceful and quiet.
the hosts were only a phone call away and were very quick to respond to our needs. we all agreed this was a fantastic visit in a perfect setting. thanks peter!
This property easily rates 5 stars. We had been looking for something away from the typical crowded touristy areas, and this home was perfect. Lots of space inside and out. Very serene, yet only 10 or so minutes into town for groceries, restaurants, etc. Peter and Marie were so thoughtful preparing their home and making us feel very welcomed. We would definitely stay here again.
Our family had an amazing week at Peter's home. One of our family members uses a power wheelchair, and the level of accessibility was fantastic. The house is exactly as pictured and the lake views are unmatched! We definitely plan on returning!
Plenty of great space for all nine of us. Spent all day on the lake, dinner at the dining table, night by the campfire. Couldn’t have asked for a better late July week.
Thoroughly impressed with not only the house, but the Host too! Our extended family rents a lake house annually, and this house just jumped to the top for homes to rent! The house has plenty of space, so you can enjoy quality family time but also for everyone to chill and do their own thing. Lots of amenities for you to use on the water if you don't feel like bringing your own kayak/outdoor items. Groceries are a short 15 minutes away, and if you're ever in the mood for Italian, I highly recommend Nina's in Norwich (yumm)
The setting is so idyllic and peaceful, it was a shame to leave. Peter was a great host! Thank you for sharing your home with us
Great home. Kitchens are well equipped for entertaining. Beach side is great for swimming, boating and relaxing. Fireplace for s'mores and reminiscing. Hosts are very accommodating.
Nestled in the hills of Chenango county just minutes from Norwich, New York this property is a hidden gem. Built in the 1920s, this camp retains the charm of yesteryear while being modern and very well appointed. The kitchen(s) had everything a cook could want or need. Three refrigerators allowed our group to bring all the food and drinks for the week with plenty of room to spare. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, bathrooms were numerous , well stocked and sparkling clean. Luckily, our group had a fairly decent week weather wise to take full advantage of the waterfront and surrounding property which was artfully landscaped. The lake was busy on the weekend but tapered off to one or two boats a day mid week. We swam nearly every chance we could using the floating dock, kayaks and paddleboard. The water quality was impressive and quite a few fish were caught from the dock. As the day turned to night, Chenango Lake became as tranquil as a postcard and smooth as glass. There was a large area with plenty of parking, open space and trails across the road. Overall, we were highly impressed with the property. It was obvious to us that the owner had taken great care to provide his guests with a little slice of paradise.
We arrived to homemade cookies and a basket of treats. The house is spacious and had everything we needed. Peter provided kayaks and a paddle board as well as a Sailfish, life jackets, plenty of lounge chairs, fire pit with kindling and logs, beach towels, and much more. The lake was clear and beautiful. Our extended family loved this vacation and being at the lake. We look forward to another wonderful vacation. Thank you, Peter for making our vacation so special.
This was rental for 5 families who's sons were playing at Cooperstown. Communication with Peter was fantastic. When he found out we were going to baseball games daily, we came home after the first day and found an EZ Up canopy waiting for us to use. He was extremely thoughtful.
We had such a wonderful experience at this lake house and guest house! They were so spacious, and clean and had everything we needed in the kitchens and bathrooms! Thank you so much for the welcome basket, we loved making s'mores and the coffee and creamer were just the perfect touch!
If anyone is considering staying at this house, you will have so much fun! It is perfect for multiple families and you just can't beat the view of the lake and all the fun things to do....fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, corn hole, relaxing in the comfortable chairs. This house had everything you would need including life vests and lots of paddles for everyone to enjoy being out on the water.

An amazing experience!
My family HIGHLY recommends this property for your family's next vacation. This house is exquisite and has more to offer than we could have even asked for. Pete was an amazing host! Fresh flowers, welcome gift basket of snacks, ice cream cake, plenty of lake toys, yard games, you name it - they have it all! Our children created so many beautiful memories that will last them a lifetime. The kids are all so sad to leave... Thank you for everything and hopefully we can stay again in the future!

Colgate Graduation Stay
We rented this property for an extended weekend stay to attend our daughter's graduation from Colgate. Given that we were busy with activities on campus, we didn't have time to take advantage of kayaking/canoeing at the lake or other local attractions. (We were able to drive back and forth to campus easily.) The well-appointed house was perfect for our family (both sets of grandparents, our son, and my husband and I). It was easy to gather together comfortably as a group, and there are also separate spaces to spread out in--both outside and inside. The house was well-equipped; we grilled a meal our first night and enjoyed eating that dinner and breakfasts in the spacious dining room. The active bird feeders right outside the kitchen windows were an added pleasure. The bedrooms also worked well for us--there are 2 sets of 2 bedrooms with a connecting bathroom upstairs, and a separate bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. There is also a bonus double bed in a balcony alcove overlooking the downstairs living room. Most of the bedrooms have big windows so there is plenty of light; some light-blocking curtains or shades would be a desirable addition for those who prefer darkness for sleeping. The owner was exceptional. We were welcomed with a basket of treats, he checked in beforehand and during our visit to be sure we had everything we needed, and immediately responded to our only additional request (for some dishwasher detergent). We would definitely recommend this property to others.
