About this property

Mountain Cabin Bordering State Park. Hiking, Private. Special Place, Great View!

Tucked in the forest near the end of a dead end dirt road this cabin sits on a ridge with awesome views and sounds of a creek below. Fully renovated interior in 2021 yet keeping its rustic charm. Peaceful and quiet nestled against Camels Hump State Park, but still the luxury of high speed internet. Master bedroom has large picture window towards the forest with the creek below. Enjoy morning coffee on the porch with its beautiful south eastern exposure. Minutes from Waterbury and Waitsfield

This 1 bedroom cabin with a loft in Duxbury is perfect for your escape. With a cozy queen bed with a view in the master bedroom. 2 twin beds in the loft that can be made in to a king.

Propane Fireplace in living room adds to the ambiance. Set to a thermostat or just turn it on!
Hiking into the state park is right from your door. Quiet and not used by many people, connects to 14,000 acre Camels Hump stayed Forest. Also makes great cross country skiing on the groomed Snowmobile trails in the winter.

Fire pit outside the cabin. Charcoal BBQ for you to enjoy. Here the Dowsville creek from bed after a night of rain!

Four wheel drive in winter needed. Any car in summer is fine.

Love this place!
This was our third time staying here over the years and we just love it! It feels like you’re a million miles away from civilization, which is so relaxing, but yet you’re actually close by to many great things to do. We always go to Warren Falls and The Mad Taco and neither disappoints! Peter and Sandra’s place is a perfect spot to get away from it all. The view is spectacular and the cabin has everything you need. Will definitely be back again!

Perfect weekend getaway…
My partner and I had an incredible time in this beautiful cabin in Duxbury. It had everything we needed for a quiet, weekend stay. We spent one day hiking nearby Camel’s Hump ( a wonderful Class 3 scramble!). And spent the next day indoors while it rained, enjoying the beautiful views from the bedroom and living room. We cooked and baked, and opened up some great cans of beer from nearby breweries. Best of all was the easiness of checking in and out with Pete and Sandra. They were remarkably generous and kind towards us. As well as very prompt with their communication. We hope we can come back soon!

Amazing experience at special cabin
Our stay at this cozy cabin was amazing!! From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The cabin was spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made our stay even more enjoyable. The warm, inviting atmosphere was exactly what we needed for a relaxing getaway. The host responds very fast if you have any questions. You can walk down the road and find the most beautiful brook. The sounds are amazing. We are definitely planning to be back a second time!

My name is Pete and I am from Vermont. My wife Sandra is from Sweden. We met guiding camping trips for a company that brought us all over North America. We love travelling and are usually working in Alaska in the summers. Hosting has been a fun way for us to share this beautiful part of Vermont, while staying connected with travelers.

Why they chose this property

This is a cute little cabin built on to an old glacial gravel ridge. Looking down onto Dowsville creek or looking out across the mountains it is just beautiful here! We love that this is a small plot of land towards the end of a dead end road. We can just stroll into a very quite corner of the Camels Hump State Park.

What makes this property unique

A fun fact about this freshly remodeled cabin

-Cabinets were hand built farther up the road by a neighbor
-Counter tops are slabs from trees cut on this hillside.
