About this property
5 minutes from Burgess Falls! Fish, canoe & paddle boating on private property.
Make yourself at home in this 3-bedroom Baxter retreat, a unique property nestled in the woods of Putnam County. Bring your fishing poles and life jackets and walk 25 yards to the 3-acre private lake outside your front door. Fish from the shore, enjoy the paddle boat, ride in the canoe, or hike in the nearby woods.
This private, peaceful, wooded retreat is located on 17 acres and offers a wonderful connection with nature and your family.
We’re located 2.7 miles from Burgess Falls State Park, 5.3 miles from Window Cliffs Natural Area, and 7.2 miles to I-40 Cookeville.
Connect with nature and unplugging for a few days. There’s no internet nor cable TV at our refuge, phone service inside the house is limited. Our Verizon cell works on the porch and in various areas on the property. There is a TV located in the living room with a DVD player and a variety of movies are provided for your use during your stay.
LIABILITY WAIVER:
By renting our property you are agreeing and acknowledging that there are inherent risks involved with boating, hiking, poison oak, outdoor bugs and critters, walking on a "dock" with no rails, stairs, and campfires that could pose a potential danger for adults and children. Children must be carefully supervised at all times at the water and there is NO SWIMMING in the lake. If you use the boating vessels, we strongly recommend life jackets to be worn.
By renting our property you are agreeing and acknowledging the potential risks and agree to accept full responsibility for any bodily injury that may occur to you and others in your party, and waive any claim whatsoever against the owners for accidents or claims arising from these activities.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Caney Fork River is the main source feeding into Center Hill Lake. Falling Water River is another major tributary into the lake on the south. Our property backs up to Falling Water River, which is located 120 yards from the front door.
Listen to the stunning variety of birds nearby, enjoy the geese that often decide to take a short vacation on our lake, and watch the Purple Martins swoop in and out of their home as they reside on our little island. We are so thankful for these beautiful and beneficial songbirds. It took several years before they decided to occupy our birdhouse. You'll also most likely see occasional deer wander through our property. And we hope you'll enjoy the solitude of sitting by the firepit, and getting in touch with the country surroundings.
This refuge is our place of family gatherings and solitude. It's a place where we can unplug and enjoy nature...and social media takes a back seat for a few days. Since there are times that we can't fit our family gatherings into our schedules, we decided to offer our property for others to enjoy also. It is our hope that you feel the peace and togetherness of family that we feel.
Our property is located in the heart of water activities, water falls, and amazing trails in this Putnam County/White County/DeKalb County area.
We are located:
3 miles to Burgess Falls State Park
5 miles to Window Cliffs Nature Area
7 miles to Cane Hollow (which is the closest Center Hill Lake access)
7 miles to Fancher Falls (boat access)
10 miles to Cookeville Boat Dock
