About this property
BenTiki's Yurt in Waiohinu
Welcome to the Hawaiian Hula Hut. We think you’ll enjoy this cozy 24’ diameter Yurt with a 18' private, above ground pool. This light filled yurt is equipped with all the modern appliances you need: a gas range/oven, full size refrigerator/freezer and microwave. The bright kitchen with its granite counters & ample cabinets is very functional for meal preparation. The sizable bathroom just off the bedroom offers a custom tiled shower and tankless hot water heater for comfortable showers. A love seat that converts to a single bed in the living area makes a great place to watch a movie or read a book. A small dining table doubles as a functional workspace. You’ll know you are making a difference with your choice to stay in a solar powered home with a modern photovoltaic electrical system. The large covered lanai is great for meals or to just sit and enjoy the pleasant tropical breezes. There is also a clothes washer & dryer available for your use during daylight hours. The Yurt is located on a quiet half acre parcel less than 10 minutes from town. It is in a neighborhood with other full time residents.
Close to Papakolea, the Green Sands Beach & Punalu'u, the Black Sands Beach with just a 45 minute drive to the dynamic Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.
The space:
An off grid, solar powered, 452 sq. ft. Yurt with modern amenities, one bedroom, one bathroom & a pull out sofa sleeper for one person.
Guest access:
Guests have the entire home, pool, private lanai, pool & half acre of lawn to enjoy.
Parking is at the back of the yurt on the gravel only.
Other things to note:
The Hula Hut runs completely on solar power & then batteries once the sun sets so please turn off all lights when you’re not using them & aim to run large appliances while the sun shines. No laundry is to be done after dark.
Please close all windows & crank the ceiling dome shut before leaving to prevent rain from coming into the Yurt.
Please be aware of the sensitive septic system so it functions flawlessly during your stay. Only flush your natural waste & the toilet paper that is provided. Put EVERYTHING else in the rubbish bin provided, even products advertised as “flushable.”
You are expected to clean up after you cook - this helps to keep tropical pests - like ants out of the yurt during your stay.
Pool rules are posted inside the Yurt.
PLEASE READ BEFORE USE OF THE POOL.
You may want to consider bringing groceries from Hilo or Kona. There are some small grocery store options about 12 miles away but selection may be more limited.
Mahalo for your interest in the Hawaiian Hula Hut.
