LOCATION: Reef House is situated 150 feet above Crescent Beach on the southeast facing coast of Bequia Island. This exclusive newer Villa offers complete privacy in a gorgeous above the sea and mature tropical garden location.

Reef House was completed in June, 2011. The owners named the house after the off shore Crescent Bay Reef with its constantly breaking waves that one sees from every part of the property. We chose this site specifically because of the powerful views that will captivate and entertain you from the moment you arrive and step out on to the ten foot covered veranda facing the sea and reef. House is designed to be cooled by the eastern Caribbean trade winds.

Reef House is nestled into the hillside and is constructed of local stone and Greenheart hardwood in a style that reflects the Caribbean tradition yet provides all the modern conveniences. The exterior walls are covered in cut stone which gives the house the feeling of a sea captain's villa. Reef House's pavilion style design is naturally cooled by the Caribbean trade winds that constantly flow in from the sea. No A/C is provided.

The living spaces of Reef House are designed to be 'as one' with the sea and sky. Spacious verandas emerge from the rooms on the first and second floors either overlooking the two bays below or a private garden filled with colorful tropical plants.

Pairs of tall, arched Dutch doors push open to reveal views of the turquoise sea from every room. It is only a five minute walk down the hill to the white sand, palm tree lined Crescent Beach.

The Upper Level can be used as a TWO BEDROOM home. It consists of the master bedroom with its high-beamed ceiling and stone surrounded, nine foot arched wooden Dutch doors that open to the sea. There is a generous walk-in closet, a stylish bathroom with dark green soapstone counter, Balinese teak mirror and a large walk-in shower with walls of green marble tile and a slate tile floor. The king size Balinese teak four poster bed is covered with a mosquito net. As in all the bedrooms, a ceiling fan cools room. Screens doors also let in the cooling breeze.

Next to the master bedroom is the open-air dining room with its artistic walls of cut stone and a hand-made wood dining table that comfortably seats 10 guests. Gorgeous ocean and garden views are featured from this area of the property.

The spacious Octagon shaped Living Room with Kitchen follows next with its vaulted wood beam ceiling and handsome stone terrazzo floors crossed with wide strips of tropical wood. All the teak furniture has been imported from Bali and gives the house a relaxed, 'barefoot chic' ambiance. The Octagon has six hand-constructed nine foot Greenheart Dutch doors, each framed by a cut stone arch, that open to a magnificent vista of either the verdant tropical valley behind the beach or dramatic views of the sea, reef, islands offshore or cloud filled tropical blue sky.
The kitchen has a large dark green soapstone center island with bar stools, soapstone counters, stainless steel refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher and large walk-in pantry.

The upstairs guest bedroom, with queen size teak four poster bed, is of similar design as the master bedroom and bath. This Upper Level featuring TWO BEDROOMS has no stairs and is on the same elevation as the entry garden filled with tropical plants.

The Lower Level is comprised of three generously proportioned guest bedrooms each with a teak four-posted queen size bed covered with a mosquito net. Each bath contains a walk-in tiled shower, soapstone counter top and Balinese teak mirror.
Two of the downstairs bedrooms share a spacious bath with its extra large walk-in shower.
There is also a separate media room for watching movies on the HDTV (bring your favorite DVD selections) with a teak single sleigh bed and full bath.

For your added enjoyment, there is a plunge POOL with an underwater bench designed for sitting and relaxing and taking in the sea views.

COMPLIMENTS WE HAVE RECEIVED:
* You have the most handsome house on the island.
* Loved the quality of the beds.
*Loved hearing the ocean waves when lying in bed.
*Loved resting and reading when lying on the teak chaise lounge couches on the veranda facing the sea - hard to stay awake!
*Great to be able to walk to the turtle sanctuary close by.
*Loved the old Caribbean feeling of the house and being able to enjoy all the modern amenities.

Relaxing getaway
Peaceful and quiet. Just you, the sound of the ocean and the native birds. The overlook to the sea below is truly breathtaking. Sitting on the veranda watching the sun rise was a great way to start the day. The people are great. The food was always delicious. A great vacation. Thank you.

A great first time visit!
We enjoyed our week stay at the Reef House! Beautiful views everywhere! We loved relaxing at the pool and driving down to the close beach. Everything is close with a car and easy to get to. The breeze up at the reef house helps with air flow and gives you that island feel. No problems with communication, Chris and the team were great! Our 3 girls loved the trip and we would come again! Cheers!

A wonderful week
Property is beautiful - even better than the pictures when you see it in person. Cassandra's arrival dinner was delicious. Chris is very helpful and responsive. Gideon taxi is very reliable - good people. The island is very scenic with beautiful uncrowded beaches. The home and amenities are top quality. The pool was clean and always a great temperature. There is definitely more to do and see in Bequia than you could reasonably experience in one week. Friendly people on this island and we always felt safe and welcome. I would highly recommend this rental.

Paradise!
The property is in a beautiful location, and all amenities are first class. The property owner, Property Manager, Housekeeper, are truly exceptional. If we had to nitpick, it would probably be that the house would be so very much more comfortable if it had air-conditioning in the bedrooms. I know electricity is expensive, but there exist "split" a/c units, meant to cool only one room. To save on electricity, they could be on timers so that they only function at night.

Majestic vistas
The Reef House is absolutely gorgeous. It must be seen to be believed. All my interactions with Sally, Christopher, and Cassandra were lovely. Even with seaweed on the closest beach, it is a great location. You might want to rent a car as taking taxis everywhere is quite expensive. But taxis have the advantage of being driven around by locals and learning about the island. . If you are in decent shape you can walk into town or on the road away from town is a lovely scenic walk I highly recommend the Reef House and hope to be able to return. Thank you so much, Sally!

Absolutely Breathtaking
The Reef House is nothing less than amazing. The design and quality of the home is 5 star in every way. Sally was really great to work with and was extremely attentive to our needs. She provided extremely valuable information about the home and Island culture and recommendations on where to get groceries and even who to use for transportation service. Every morning we were awakened by the sunrise and invited to gaze upon the ocean and majestic mountain views. Our stay was 6 days, and the home had every cooking utensil needed to prepare meals. Chris (property manager) was also awesome. He represented the owners very well. Truly the home, the Island and the people left an impression on us that will last a lifetime. Thank you!

Second Visit Even Better
We first enjoyed Reef House in 2012 and didn't think it could get any better. Bequia is our favorite Caribbean island. The clever design of the house allows you to enjoy as much or as little of the elements as you like. Guests are unaware of neighbors. The main floor bedrooms are very private, separated by the great room and from the bedrooms on the lower level. The owners were have introduced a number of new conveniences and attractive decorating details. The landscaping has been enhanced and has matured. By our next visit, I expect to pick fruit from the trees. The manager and staff are extraordinarily helpful. Of course, there is no way to improve the unequaled view. But, the restaurant at the wonderfully convenient Cresent Beach has been beautifully upgraded.

Away from it all...
A lovely house, well designed and ideal for a break where peace, quiet, a lovely view, all mod cons, a swimming pool and a friendly cat are required.. We were going to visit Bequia in 2020, but this obviously had to be cancelled, and it was great to finally get there. The house is managed by Chris, who met us at the airport where we were hiring a car, and directed us back to the house - this probably saved us considerable time, as the one thing that is not available in any great quantity in Bequia is road signage! Chris was very helpful all the time we were at Reef House, and he quickly sorted out the only problem that we had, which was a minor electrical issue. It was a pleasure to also meet Cassandra, Obediah and Wesley who look after the house, pool and gardens. The communication from the owner, Sally, before we travelled and during our trip was excellent, and her information pack about the house and the island answered all the questions that we had. A great place to stay for 2 -10 people if you are heading to Bequia.

Reef House is mystical on the island of Bequia!
We stay at Reef House for 6 nights. We had a wonderful experience from the beginning to the end. We travelled with 3 other couples. We all had our own rooms with en-suites and walk in closest. The main living area was perfect for making meals and gathering morning and night. The dining room was well used for meals and playing games. If we had the chance to visit the Grenadines again we would do exactly the same as we did this time and stay at Reef House!

Rejuvenating!
6 best friends just returned from a two week stay at the Reef House . We loved it! The house is amazing. Beautiful views from every room. Pool is amazing and always the perfect temperature. Easy walk down to crescent beach. Walk up, not so easy BUT is was great exercise! Snorkelled there. A few of us saw large stingrays. Beautiful dinners (3 times ) at Sugar Reef. Fantastic food. All of us like to read and Sally has a well established book library there with tons of popular books. She also had games and cards and poker chips etc for those nights in. The attention to detail in this house is worth noting. We all loved the extra reading light on each sides of the bed. Each side table also has a small flashlight for “just in case”. Closet space in each of the rooms with plenty of hangers and shelf space. ( some of the other houses we have stayed at didn’t have any space at all). Cooked most meals at the Reef House. Well equipped kitchen. If you can pack your own favourite spices etc then do so. It helps a lot as certain foods and extra things like that can get pricey. We also brought coffee and “must have items”. We rented a MULE from Jordan (“Jords”) down at the waterfront marina area for a great price. We preferred this option over taxis. The MULE sat 6 of us and we were able to scoot around the entire island. Went snorkelling at Princess Margaret Beach. Beautiful beach and colourful fish. We all agree that BEQUIA is a ver special island. The local people are so very friendly. Quite possibly the friendliest place around! A special shout out to Cassandra, Obadiah , Chris and Sally. Each of you added your own special touch to our vacation and we hope to visit again soon!

Wow, what a trip! I'm sitting here waiting to head to the Bequai airport as I write this... The house is absolutely stunning and as exactly as described! The views can't be beat. The breeze coming in off the ocean keeps things cool. It's far enough from town to be quiet and secluded, but close enough to get to dinner in town in 10 minutes. Not to mention Sugar Reef for excellent meals, which is 1/4 mile walk! All of the people on island who care for Reef House and it's guests are absolutely wonderful. I'm already working on coming back again. What a gem!

Paradise Found!!!
Our stay at Reef House exceeded all expectations and is much more beautiful than pictures can share! The villa was open and spacious with excellent views of Industry and Spring Bay. The breeze kept us cool at all times especially at night in our well appointed and luxurious bedroom. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and the complimentary supper upon arrival was welcoming and thoughtful for travelers...loved having cold Hairouns ready for us! Sally the owner was very responsive to all questions and her advise and recommendations were spot on for our stay in Bequia. Chris, Cassandra & Obediah couldn't have been more lovely and were extremely welcoming showing us the house and following up when the internet went down - not that we needed to be connected to the outside world, but missed being able to play our tunes thru wifi to stereo!!! ;-) I would definately stay here again!

Bequia and Reef House stole our hearts
Bequia - a wonderful little island; so beautiful and made all the more special by staying in this beautiful home. While not in main town, the island is so small that we made it into Port Elizabeth in 7 - 10 minutes. The island is easy to drive. And taxis are everywhere! The owners have done a lovely job - the architecture, the decor, the gardens - all are just perfect. You will not be disappointed in this home. It is perfect for just two or a large group. It is designed in such a way that, while large, it is not overwhelming for two. In fact, it was just right. Yet there are multiple additional bedrooms to accommodate larger groups. The pool has an exceptional view and gets a full dose of morning sun that seemed to keep the water warm through sunset. Sally, the owner, was so helpful and responsive from beginning to end. Thank you Sally! And the staff - Caleb, Cassandra and Wayne for our stay - were amazingly sweet and helpful, including Caleb’s extra help with capturing a lost piece of luggage stranded in St Vincent! One night, Cassandra made us a delicious homemade dinner and we enjoyed a relaxing evening hanging out at “home” from cocktails through dessert. Very delicious and reasonably priced. Sally provides a lot of information about the island. We took her suggested walk from the house past the turtle sanctuary. Just beautiful and a good morning walk. We also hiked up to Ma Peggy. Fantastic. Great climb; beautiful views. The Friendship Rose trip to the Tobago Cays is not to be missed. You can rent kayaks from the Plantation House and paddle around the harbor or over to Princess Margaret beach. Paddle boards too (you can also get from Jack’s). Sugar Reef restaurant- a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from Reef House - is beautiful and delicious. Jefferson and Dawson are great! We had lunch, dinner and take out. Jack’s has great food right on the beach. We had great local food and fun dancing with the staff and local band at The Fig Tree on a Sunday night. Thursday night at Frangipani with the steel drum band is fun too! There are a ton of places to eat and drink on the water or beach. One of the best is Bar One, a floating bar in the middle of the harbor. As much fun to get to as it is to hang out. Kayak from the plantation house or call them to pick you up from Jacks. As you can tell from this review Bequia and Reef House are very special for many reasons; we are lucky and thankful to have experienced both the island and the home.

We love Bequia !
The only thing that we don’t like about Bequia is the fact that it involves a day coming and a day to go back to Canada! This year we were lucky to be staying at Reef House, high above Industry Bay. There were 10 of us,and the 12 year old did the research to find the place for us. The welcome first night meal was a great idea, as we arrived quite late and couldn’t shop. Callaloo soup, salad and toast, followed by the ubiquitous Bequia dessert, banana bread. I am not sure how many loaves we consumed during our weeks stay- I lost count. The house was perfect for our needs- 5 bedrooms, two on the kitchen/ great room level, and 3 below on the pool level. Lots of games, puzzles and pool toys for everybody. A very well equipped kitchen with utensils and dishes for every need. There was a great list of things to do and places to go, many of which the grandparents had already done, but were happy to do again. All of the adults in the party were afraid to drive on the steep, steep hills and unfamiliar roads, so we used lots of taxies to get to beaches, grocery stores and restaurants. A good time was had by all!

Paradise!
Reef House is an amazing vacation home on the east coast of Bequia Island. We went for spring break and had a lovely week in paradise. The house is one of the nicest homes we've rented. Meticulously appointed with everything you could ever need, and very high-quality furnishings and finishes. Its' elegant without being stuffy. The breezes that come through the open windows are heaven. The owner, Sally, makes sure that you know everything you need to ahead of time for a successful and restful stay on Bequia, from taxis and rental cars to shops, excursions, restaurants and medical care. She arranged for a homemade dinner to be waiting for us on our arrival, which was such an incredible treat. You will not be disappointed!!

A slice of heaven! BOOK IT!
I don't think I could adequately put into words how amazing this house and island is. Everything from the views, the beach breeze, the sound of crashing waves, the long secluded beach, the amazing hosts, and the perfect location- it all far exceeded every expectation we could have had! Don't miss out on this, you cannot get this anywhere else! From day one Sally was responsive and eager to help. She provided us with an information packet that included places to eat, recreational activities, beaches -We had all the information we needed! A few mornings we walked into town. It was a fairly easy walk taking roughly 40 minutes or so. The town itself and the harbor is beautiful! The restaurants that we tried were all fantastic…Thursday nights at Frangipani is a must do…steel drum band…dancing and a BBQ. -Cab rides home were easy to find, the locals are so sweet and kind. So seriously, stop reading and BOOK NOW ! You won’t regret it! It truly is a stunningly beautiful, slice of heaven!

Great Tropical Vacation Hideaway!!
My wife and I spent two wonderful, memorable weeks at Reef House. Coming from snowy Central Oregon, we reveled in the warm air, warm water and warm vibes of Bequia. It is a long way from the west coast of the USA (5 plane rides), but well worth the effort. Once you get there, total relaxation is yours. We snorkeled, swam and hung out at the beautiful sand beach a short distance below the house. It's a short ride over to the main town, a fascinating location for dining, shopping and people watching. The local population is friendly and welcoming. We felt safe there. Back at Reef House we could escape the hustle and bustle of the town and have solitude with a beautiful view.

Couldn't have been nicer
My husband and I have visited Bequia 4 times and stayed in 4 different villas, all in the Spring area (the quiet side of the island). We loved all the places we've stayed, but Reef House is our favorite! So much to recommend it. The location--a short climb above the ocean with wonderful ocean breezes and the sound of the waves, a wrap around veranda where we could watch the sunrise each morning (and every sunrise is unique on Bequia). The architecture of the house, with its central room with large doors that open on all sides to let in the sun and the breeze. The proximity to our favorite restaurant on Bequia, Sugar Reef (barely a 10-minute walk from the house). And Chris, the house manager is the loveliest man! He found us fish when we wanted to eat in, and answered all our questions. On our next visit to Bequia, we'll be sure to return to Reef House!

Tropical Paradise
Located on a ridge with spectacular ocean views, the Reef House is an architectural gem. Every room opens to the trade winds and to views of beautiful Crescent Beach. We loved the comfortable elegance of the rooms furnished with Balinese furniture. We walked down to Crescent Beach for swims in the warm waters and for meals at the excellent Sugar Reef restaurant. We loved exploring Bequia which is the Caribbean at its best. No condos, no huge hotels--just a laid back tropical life style with friendly people. Snorkeling in Lower Bay was unforgettable. Twice, we swam with a large manta ray which swam along the beach for hundreds of yards. We ate at several open air restaurants with memorable views and excellent food. Having visited many third world countries, we were very impressed with Bequia"s cleanliness. We will definitely return to this magical place.

We loved Bequia. Reef House was one of the nicest villas we have rented in the 27 years we have been visiting the Caribbean and Central America. The landscaping has matured since the pictures were taken, and is even more beautiful than expected. The furnishings are much nicer than we usually encounter. Your management team helped make our vacation seamless. Now, if we could figure a way to move to Bequia and not spend another day in this frigid weather. Bequia is the first vacation spot outside of the US we feel we could live full time. I am sure we will be back. Thank You for sharing your home with us. P.S. Another first, we have never received our security deposit refund so promptly.

PARADISE NOW!
The moment we stepped off the ferry, Chris, your House Manager, was there to welcome us and load our luggage into Gideon's cab. Within minutes we were on our way to the Reef House. Your home took our breath away. The architecture is exquisite and amazing. We love the openness, allowing the warm breezes to flow through. The large wood doors are magnificent! Furnishings, fabrics, and artwork, every detail shows the time, effort, and excellent taste you devoted to create a masterpiece. We went to Sugar Reef, a wonderful restaurant a short distance from Reef House, the first night for a scrumptious dinner. Between courses, I went to the shore and waded in the warm water and marveled at the billions of stars. Having awakened at 5:30 am to get here from Barbados, your large comfortable bed was welcomed, but the view of the moon shining its golden path on the sea was so lovely, I did not want to close my eyes for sleep! The next morning we visited the turtle sanctuary, which was fascinating, then to the beach for a swim. We can't thank you enough for allowing us to share your paradise on earth.

Fantastic Family Holiday
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at the Reef House on Bequia. The house is beautifully designed and extremely comfortable. The view is truly outstanding. Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) stayed at the house for a week in March break and enjoyed every minute. Waking up and having coffee on the verandah watching the sunrise was truly special. The island itself is a Caribbean gem. There are great beaches, good food, good snorkelling, and great weather. The attention to detail from having a Chris and Delene welcome us on our arrival and ensure our comfort, to the games, books and information left for our use was very thoughtful. Thanks for making our holiday very memorable. We highly recommend.

Tobe and Sally, the owners of Reef House, discovered the island of Bequia more than twenty-five years ago on a scuba diving vacation. We were totally charmed by the quaintness and beauty of this small island and embraced by the friendly attitude of the local residents; so they just kept coming back. We rented homes at various locations around the island and then in 2007 made the decision to purchase land and build our own home overlooking Crescent Beach (formally called Industry Bay due to the harvesting of the coconut palm plantation which still exists below the house). Needless to say, this was not an easy thing to do being that we live in Santa Barbara, California; but with lots of patience and four years of hard work, Bequia Reef House was created. Construction was completed in June, 2011.
Many people ask us why we didn't build our vacation/rental home in Hawaii since we live on the West Coast.
Our reply is: come to Bequia, experience its quaint charm, super friendly local people, uncrowded beaches and beautiful warm turquoise water and you will understand.

Why they chose this property

We had rented various homes on Bequia, always close to the sea, as that is a prime requirement for us when taking a vacation.
When we saw this half acre plus property on the undeveloped side of the island with its powerful views of the sea, sky and valley below; we knew that it would be a perfect site for a vacation home.
TIME OUT - TIME IN PARADISE:
We've all been told there is no perfect place in this world; but standing on the REEF HOUSE veranda on a full moon evening, gazing across the shimmering silver sea with warm tropical breezes caressing your body, comes close.
This is a place where the clouds really do have a silver lining!
To further enhance this magical encounter with nature's wonders, take a short stroll down the hill to the beach where stately coconut palms sway with the warm trade winds and dance in the moonlight, and the warm waters of the tropical sea wash up against your feet, tempting you to take a moonlight swim. Then you will understand why we choose to built Reef House in this location. :-)

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the open spacious design of the home. Its large rooms, dining porch and restful covered veranda all capture views of the sea and the ever-changing tropical sky. The beauty of the cut stone covered walls and high arched wooden doors are a pleasure to behold.
When we are there by ourselves we just use the Upper Level which has been designed as a TWO BEDROOM home all on the garden entry level of the property. The Lower Level three bedrooms are reached by stairs on the outside of the villa and cannot be seen from the Upper Level.

After a cup of tea or coffee in the morning, we like to take off for a hike along the infrequently used little road at the bottom of the hill, walk along the usually deserted Crescent Beach, stop by the Turtle Sanctuary for a visit and then carry on up the road to the stone quarry and trail that runs along the edge of the cliff above the sea. Most of the time we are all by ourselves enjoying the beauty of nature. We feel blessed that such a place still exists in this crowded busy world.
Reef House is a place of tranquility.

We also greatly enjoy having a wonderful very friendly house keeper (who is also an excellent cook) to help with the chores.
And our property manager is delightful and very knowledgeable about all aspects of Reef House and living in Bequia.

Our plunge pool has been a real joy for our grandchildren. We enjoy a cool dip or just sitting on the underwater bench soaking in the views and serenity of this private hillside location above the turquoise sea.
The bay below the house is wonderful for swimming as the off shore Crescent Bay Reef breaks up the surf so the waters in the bay stay calm. Snorkeling along the reef is also good fun on calm sea days.
