Refugio De Smith

Welcome to Refugio de Smith, a whimsical base camp situated a stone’s throw away from Smith Rock State Park. Our attached guest apartment, newly constructed in 2024, offers a blend of modern comfort and high desert charm. We encourage you to cohabitate with the colorful wild peacocks as they dance through the property as a symbol of good luck and fortune. You may even catch a glimpse of Fabio, the rare white peacock associated with purity of mind and spirit.

We sit beneath the glow of the south side of the park, with views highlighting the classic Marsupial climbing traverse. As the sun sets over the Cascade Mountain Range, get ready for a celestial show as endless stars brighten up the dark sky.

Our space will create a true experience for those recreating at Smith Rock State Park. Grind through an evening training session on the hang board or engage in a recovery practice using the provided yoga mats, foam roller and theracane.

For those guests comfortable on a ladder, please enjoy access to our mini library and lofted reading nook that sits above the living area. Whether you want to dive into a story of adventurous survival or snuggle up with a classic, we have something on the shelf for you.

Remote workers can buckle down at the designated work space located in the bedroom, complete with an office desk and chair.

Our kitchenette is stocked with everything you need to prepare a simple meal (hot plate, toaster, and ninja toaster oven/air fryer, cutlery and dishes.)

Help yourself to local coffee beans that you can grind and savor as a french press, pour over or traditional coffee drip. The instant hot water dispenser shortens the wait time before your first cup.

A soda stream is provided as well for unlimited sparkling water!

-Redmond Airport: 20 minutes
-Downtown Bend: 40 minutes
-Sisters, OR: 40 minutes

Guest access
This 5 acre property is private, gated and fully fenced. Guests have separate parking and a separate entrance. Please enjoy unlimited access to the guest quarters and designated outdoor area.

As this space is attached to our home, quiet hours between 9 pm and 6 am are to be respected on both sides. We encourage you to bring headphones if you enjoy late night media.

Guests do not have access to the primary house/deck or accessory buildings.
