Please note, the furnishings have been re-arranged a little. With that in mind, all changes have been for the better, including upgrades such as a dishwasher and granite countertops in the kitchen!

There are two bedrooms with real beds, and one bathroom. The living room features a pull-out sofa bed. It's perfect for the city dweller who enjoys easy living, with a perfect common area for dinners or a glass of wine. There's AMPLE natural light as there are many south-facing windows. The full access kitchen is beautiful and features a new gas stove as well as a breakfast booth.

The Neighborhood

Overview

In Charles Village bordering the Waverly neighborhood, there are many shops nearby, a gourmet grocery store, and the Waverly Farmer's Market is literally one block away on Saturdays (year-long!). With pleasant tree lined streets and proximity to everything, you won't regret staying in this neck of the woods. We're one of the quietest and safest active neighborhoods close to downtown with a great mix of all age groups and types.

Getting Around

City bus lines, Baltimore Circulator buses, and Hopkins shuttles are easily accessed from the home. It is a straight shot down Maryland Avenue or St. Paul St. to Mt. Vernon and downtown neighborhoods. Going west and north, Hampden, Guilford and Roland Park neighborhoods are there for you to explore. Good food, shopping and entertainment are all nearby. Quite a bit of interest is within walking distance. We encourage you to get out and get around!

Are you bringing your bike with you? A bike is a great way to travel here as there are a couple of bike lanes nearby, and you can take tree-lined streets to your destination.

Good value. Great stay.
I have enjoyed my stay at Adrian's place. The house is spacious and well equipped with amenities. I found Adrian very easy to communicate with. The neighborhood is charming, with lots of Hopkins students and other neighbors likely to be encountered when out and about. It is a short walk to the University and the Baltimore Museum of Art. Two grocery stores, a pharmacy, an artisanal brewery, and a solid Baltimore diner, serving breakfast and lunch are all very near. There is an amazing weekly farmer's market up the block that is not to be missed. This particular street is about two blocks outside the zone of JHU's security patrols, so the additional caution you would use in any city is warranted when out at night. Most attractions of note are to be found going west toward Charles St, in the direction of the University. Great value. I'd definitely book Adrian's place again.

Comfortable and close
Our guests enjoyed staying here for over a week. The house was comfortable and close to amenities on St. Paul near Johns Hopkins University. Street parking was fine and the house is on a quiet, tree-lines streeet. Adrian was very communicative and helpful when they had questions. The house was missing a microwave and had limited pans/pots but was fine for short term.

Good house for a short walk to JHU
I was happy with the property. After some initial delays in communication, Adrian was very helpful. The things I would have liked that were missing were a house phone (as I was coming from overseas), a stereo and non-stick pans for cooking. Otherwise the kitchen was very well stocked. The neighbourhood was medium. There were a few sketchy people who wandered by from time to time (as will happen in any city) but generally the neighbours were friendly as were the people in the shops. My bed was comfortable, the sheets were soft and clean and there were extra towels. The A/C is in window units, not central. The house had a bit of a musty smell on arrival but the owners prefer that people don't use artificial air fresheners. We used incense which they said was ok. My last day I realised that my flight left very late and that I'd be at the house far past the official check-out time and Adrian was very kind and let me remain at the house. He also checked with me several times throughout my stay and even downloaded an app so that we could communicate on my UK phone without spending extra money. He went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and I would generally recommend the house.

A very cozy stay
House is generally in good order, with furniture the same. In particular the kitchen is spotlessly kept and the most lovingly well-equipped that I have ever experienced in a VRBO. (Adrian said that sometimes his family makes and enjoys dinner there when the place isn't rented, and it shows---it's exactly the kind of kitchen you'd put together if you loved cooking deluxe meals and expected to occasionally use the place yourself, including good-quality cookware/utensils that coordinate and a nice range of pot sizes, etc.) During my two-week winter stay, the programmable thermostat and heating system proved reliable and kept me comfortable. The washer and dryer worked perfectly, providing me with as much clean laundry as I needed. Also really appreciated that Adrian and his mom provide eco-friendly dish and laundry detergents. Plus, the WiFi was fast and reliable. Parking was easy, and having a resident parking permit provided by Adrian was a great perk. Rentals in Baltimore don't always offer that, and it sure makes things easier to have the permit! It was also great to be so close to a popular Saturday farmers' market. Since it was winter, I didn't get to enjoy the garden, but it looked like it had all the potential in the pictures. One thing I might suggest is that I don't think VRBO guests (as compared with long-term renters who sign regular leases) should be expected to clear snow from the steps and the walk themselves, at least not without it being said before booking that it will be a guest responsibility. That was a minor turn-off, and along with a little matter with the bathroom sink (the stopper didn't work at the time in that it could be closed...but not opened again) is the reason for the half-star off. However, I don't mind rounding up to five stars; the sink is likely fixed now, and I assume the snow thing just hasn't been brought up with the owner before. Besides, I actually didn't end up having to clear any snow at all, only saw from the welcome documentation in the house that it was considered my task. Adrian was a helpful and accommodating host who quickly responded to any concerns I had. He was also respectful of my privacy; he asked to do some showings of the home with a realtor and yet accommodated my scheduling requests with great consideration. The house is truly charming and has a wonderfully welcoming feeling to it---I recommend you ask Adrian to tell you about its history, because it's a good story.

Such a great vacation!!!
My wife and I stayed at this magnificent house to celebrate our 3rd anniversary and to have some time alone from our 5 children. This place is very clean and cozy, we felt right right at home. We would definitely come here again, and this property is right down the street from one of the best farmer's market in Baltimore (every Saturday 7am-12pm) which was a added bonus. I would give this place 10 stars if I could (lol).

Very Enjoyable Stay with Very Responsive Owner
Praise to Adrian for his responsiveness. We work up our first morning and found that we had no Internet access. Ir turned out to be a billing problem at Comcast which Adrian corrected. Adrian was very proactive reaching out to us prior to, during and after our stay to ensure an enjoyable experience for us.

A very agreeable experience--EXCELLENT. We highly recommend this rental!
My husband and I are so grateful to Adrian for providing a fantastic home away from home while I had surgery at Johns Hopkins. We stayed almost a month, and the little Victorian was a wonderful place for recovery. The air conditioning kept us nice and cool during a summer heatwave. Our Shelties had a grand time living for a month in Baltimore. I really had no idea that we would find such a treasure, and especially in such a pleasant area as Charles Village. The neighbors were super friendly and very helpful. My husband and dogs knew everyone on the block by the time we left, and when we were packing to leave, several walked over to give us their regards and wish me well in my recovery. We are from the South and found that this international set of neighbors exuded the southern hospitality that we're familiar with. Adrian also got involved when the police started giving parking tickets in an area where they weren't supposed to, and he even took care of our parking ticket. We fully intend to stay at Adrian's Victorian again if we find ourselves in Baltimore for a week or more. It was very clean, well stocked, and well situated to getting around the city.

Great place to stay
Adrian was a wonderful host and very responsive. He met us at the house and showed us around. His home was very comfortable with a good size back yard that our dog loved. On Saturdays there was an amazing farmers market 1 block away - great strawberries, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Parking was no problem at all except for during farmers market hours. Nice park for our son to play in a few blocks away too. Definitely recommend.

Baltimore
I rented this house for a weekend in Baltimore for my first trip ever up north and I was amazed at the service and attention we were given well in the process, well we were there, and even after we were gone. This house is totally worth staying in again and I probably will. Adrian is a great guy very concerned about making you and your family happy. Overall my trip and experience was amazing and great!!! Definitely a thumbs up experience and I can't wait to go back!!!!

Good place to stay
Adrian made check-in extremely easy for us! He went above and beyond to get us in the house a little earlier than check-in time, because my party arrived early. Adrian called several times over the weekend to make sure we didn't need anything. Great host! The house was spotless. I would stay here again!!! October 2015

Very nice experience
I stayed here for a week while visiting Baltimore for work. The home was great, nothing off-putting. It didn't feel gross and lived in like some other places I've stayed. Everything was clean and household items were all stocked. Getting the key went smoothly. The host, Adrian, was very attentive and helpful. Per his recommendation, I visited the nearby (very short walk, like 2 blocks) farmer's market on Saturday and picked up some pastries. I think I found my place to stay whenever I'm in Baltimore!

Sunny, cozy and convenient
Such a beautiful space! Adrian did an amazing job renovating this space into a sunny, cozy retreat that has a country cottage feel. I had more than enough room to stretch out, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the mattress and pillows are super comfy! The space is exactly what I expected & Adrian was available to answer my questions. The Waverly farmer's market on Saturday is just steps away and I was able to walk and grab food and coffee in the neighborhood. The area is quiet and quaint with a mix of families, young professionals and students. I had the best stay (and the best sleep!) at this home. Highly recommend it.

Hello, I am a late 30's male who loves to travel, hike, practice yoga, and restore/rehab homes.

I enjoy good food more than anything and this may be my favorite part of traveling.

Why they chose this property

This home has been in the family for around 29 years. It belonged to lifetime friends of the family before I took ownership of it. When they decided to sell, I purchased it and made some renovations in order to display it's full charm. Being a Baltimore native, and contractor restoring old buildings, it was a great way to preserve my childhood, while re-purposing. My mother and I maintain the place.

You'll find that our home offers great privacy, especially for a being in such a central location. No better way to enjoy the city!

What makes this property unique

One of the only detached homes in Abell / Charles Village, where you get the privacy of cozy living. All while you're immediately close to major attractions, hospitals, nightlife, and transportation.
