Gorgeous to explore and perfect for family!
If you like old houses this one is a gem to explore with a great mix of old and modern. Our family included grandparents attending SUNY Geneseo graduation. House big enough to have space for alone time and to gather for a meal in the great dining room. Highly recommend!!!

A family gathering
My sisters and I spent a wonderful five days at the Reed Homestead. We are descendants of Philip Reed, who originally built the house in 1803. The home has been carefully restored, updated and beautifully furnished. The large back yard is well maintained and also beautiful. We enjoyed exploring the nearby towns, villages and many lakes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Reed Homestead.

AMAZING!
"A hidden gem" is how we referred to the Homestead during our stay. The property is immaculate and it is stocked with everything you could possibly need. Amy is phenomenal to work with! The extra personal touches were so thoughtful and made us all feel right at home. We were there for my daughter's engagement party and all of the guests just loved the atmosphere and the history of the house. The bedrooms are all gorgeous and so comfortable and cozy. It was the perfect spot for our special occasion!

Right out of a magazine!
It’s a beautiful picturesque home and land right out of a magazine! Love her touch of fresh flowers in every room when we got there. It was very clean. And loved shopping in the little store! Would love to rent it again!

A step back in time
We really loved this property and hated to leave. The homestead has a long history and sits out in the country in beautiful surroundings. The sunrises and sunsets were colorful. The geese honking in the fields were charming. And the skies, when clear, were full of stars. The bedrooms, all on the second floor, were large and comfortable. We did not use the elegant dining room but felt at home in the back of the house with its comfortable couch and chairs. The eclectic collection of decor throughout the house was most interesting, and it was fun to wander around the house looking at it. It was a very enjoyable stay, and we expect to be coming back real soon!

Reed Homestead and the Mission
The Reed House was lovely, immaculately clean, and the owners anticipated our every need. We were there to attend a family wedding at the Barns, so I had relatives from Florida and New Orleans staying with me. They were impressed by the historic look of the house but modernized for comfort. Other family members stayed at the Mission, which they loved. Plenty of room for good parties, music and fun. Korey couldn't have been more hospitable or helpful. We enjoyed our experience in Conesus and Livonia very much.

Wedding Weekend
Great location for our wedding party to relax and unwind before and after the wedding. We had rehearsal dinner for 28 at the homestead outside, and it was the perfect location ,beautiful view , and enough room for everyone. Amy was very helpful with helping scheduling our event and with answering questions.

Fabulous home
What a wonderful home!! The pictures do not do this listing justice. We took this trip to reconnect with old friends. Looking forward to a concert and some wine tasting as well. This home allowed all of the above. We woke and spent our mornings enjoying the beautiful sunrise while having coffee outside on the meticulously groomed back lawn. Returning home after a day of wine tasting relaxing in the spacious living room, reminiscing over old times. The home was spacious and so inviting. What a great weekend from start to finish. The home was stocked with anything you could think of or need. Fresh linens clean towels... the list goes on and on. What a fantastic weekend we had!!! We cannot thank Amy enough for making our time together so memorable and so enjoying!! When we return to the area we would not even consider looking elsewhere for a place to stay!!!

Tastefully decorated, fully furnished country retreat with lush gardens and wide open surroundings.
Our host was thorough and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our arrival and experience went smoothly. House was very clean and stocked with all the nessessities and then some! It even had a store within that was fun and interesting. We enjoyed cooking meals and dining options in the adjacent living area, the formal dining room and alfresco picnic table outdoors under the trees. The fire pit was fun to warm to at night and make s’mores around. The surroundings offered beautiful views in every direction and hilly walks for exercise. All bathrooms were equipped with everything we needed and the linens were all top notch. We look forward to coming back for future stays!

Lovely big old home with charm
We thoroughly enjoyed this home. It has character and the grounds are stunning. We had three adult couples which worked well. The bathroom layout was challenging but manageable, with one upstairs where the bedrooms are and one downstairs. It was a very hot weekend and we were grateful for the air conditioning. There are plenty of supplies and the host is very gracious. The fireflies were delightful.

Beautiful Escape from Everything.
Getting here takes a moment, but when you arrive, you are brought back to the moments in time when appreciation for fresh air, beautiful farming landscapes and endless serenity reigned. The house itself is so charming, from when you step foot through the door, straight to the second floor. And, while the first brick home built in the area way back, this home away offers modern amenities, including Apple TV, should you need it. Second, the house is located in a great area. We explored Letchwood State Park, a magnificent site to see. And, finally, above all else mentioned, Amy is so sweet and very attentive. We can't wait to visit again!

Amazing place for a reunion with friends!
I rented this house to have a little reunion with some friends and it was perfect! The house was absolutely breathtaking and the yard was perfect for relaxing! It was an easy drive from a lot of things, and close enough to Rochester that some people could make a day trip! Amy was great to rent from and I would definitely recommend this house to others!

An amazing experience!
We had a wonderful time at Reed's historic home. House and land are beautiful. It is tastefully renovated without destroying the ambiance of an old mansion. House is clean with comfortable beds, there were everything you may need when staying a few days at the vacation house. The owner is very nice and responsive. We loved it!

Fantastic House, Excellent Neighborhood
Staying at Amy's place was the best decision we could have made while attending our friend's wedding nearby at Twin Silos. Amy was in constant communication with us to ask about our stay before, during and after. We felt that she would be available at a moment's notice, if needed. We were made to feel at home and the view from the backyard was peaceful. There is a welcome packet that Amy provided which greatly helped us explore the neighborhood. Wegmans is close by (15 minute drive west) and the lake is even closer. Please note that this house is a historical site and there are a great number of items in the house that are fragile! Everything was just as the pictures showed, and everything was very clean. Amy also gave us some wonderful suggestions for activities and dining options which we greatly appreciated.

About the host

Host profile image
Amy and Dan were recently married and live in Rochester. Amy lived in NYC for close to 20 years and moved back upstate in 2011 to be closer to family and enjoy the country life. Dan grew up in the Finger Lakes and has resided in Rochester for over 20 years. They love to entertain with family and friends and love the surrounding lakes and summers of upstate NY!

Why they chose this property

When Amy returned from NYC to the Finger Lakes, she happened upon this property and couldn't get it's charms out of her head. It reminded her of travels she had to Europe's country side of France and Italy. The rich history about the house adds to it's charm, and the tranquil beauty captures you immediately. The house was purchased in 2012, and carefully restored and renovated back to it's glory.
Afternoon lunches with a bottle of wine in the back garden, transport you to another world and is certainly enchanting. The evening sky bursts with the constellations which seem to go on forever.

We do often receive inquiries for guests to celebrate their wedding vows and or ceremony on the property....while we're honored with the inquiry to request such a special moment at our home, we do not permit weddings at the property no matter what size. We believe that a couples wedding is one of the most special days in their lives, and we do not have all the amenities to service a wedding. We do think the property is super special and invite guests to enjoy it as their home away from home while attending a nearby wedding. Bridal couples, wedding guests (up to 8) have enjoyed their stay with us to help make the wedding weekend extra special.

What makes this property unique

The house is private, with all the amenities needed to have an enjoyable stay.
