About this property

Loon Lake Adirondack Lodge . Pet and family friendly.

Enjoy a wonderful week or a relaxing long weekend in a rustic Adirondack Lodge.

Our camp was designed and constructed with large open spaces, plenty of glass and natural materials from the adirondacks modeled after the great camps from the late 1800s. We made sure the modern day features enjoyed today and find necessary are also incorporated into the lodge.

Loon Lake and the Loon Lake House was the destination of 3 US Presidents which made it their summer white house in the late 1800s. Many of the NYC old families would come by train and spend the summer swimming and boating on Loon Lake. The NY Central railroad extended the tracks into Loon Lake and constructed a train station for arriving and departing guests.

Today the rail line is used for biking in the summer and snowmachines in the winter. Majestic boathouses built in the late 1800s are now private camps and are still on the shoreline.

Enjoy our large stone wood burning fireplace indoors with plenty of firewood available to help excape, unwind and relax from everyday life. There is nothing like sitting in front of a crackling fire, talking, enjoying an adult beverage.

The lodge is furnished with adirondack and camp furniture. Hickory, oak and pine dining and sitting furniture, along with cedar log beds are used in the lodge rooms. Taxidermy Birds, fish and mammals/animals help set the mood. All are also seen around the area in real life. Large deck with adirondack chairs, dining table, log chairs and gas grill (we provide the propane) look out at Bass lake and the mountains.

Enjoy the screened cottage attached to the deck. Listen to the loons, owls, birds and other wildlife. We have a two person canoe and kayak for you to use along with paddles and PFDs. Boat and swim down at Hodge Bay on Loon Lake a short walk just down the road. Hike or bike the many trails marked in and around the Loon Lake area.

All linens, towels and bedding are provided. We also provide paper products for the kitchen and baths, laundry supplies for the washer and drier and cleaning items for the dishwasher and dishes. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes and tools needed to prepare a snack or a meal. Microwave, stove, refrigerator-freezer and dishwasher are provided. Washer and dryer are here for your use. 2 flatscreen HD televisions with satelite service, dvd player and a stereo along with wireless speakers are available for your enjoyment. Wi-fi will keep you connected if its necessary. Enjoy your morning coffee out in the screen room as you use your laptop or smart phone to check your email.

Another amazing stay!

We can't say enough about our stay! The house is more perfect every time we visit. The house has all the comforts of home but in a peaceful, most beautiful location. The house is perfectly maintained and completely spotless! We can't wait to visit again.

Quiet get away

Beautiful, well equipped home. Enjoyed lake even if not directly on it. Did not have a jetted tub/hot tub so listing needed updated. Great game room but we did not use it because it was too damp and musty without a dehumidifier.

Our second time renting this home which is beautifully decorated in Adirondack decor and a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay after kayaking with family. Highly recommend you won't be disappointed.

Comfortable cabin in the woods

This was our 2nd time staying at Moose Lodge. It is very comfortable and quiet. The weather was not as desirable as last year so we didn't get to enjoy the canoe or kayaks but love that they are there to use. We did play a few games of shuffle board and darts! Love the little extras.

Relaxing Get-away

We had a wonderful time getting away in upstate NY. The cabin was spacious and inviting. We were surprised by the lack of A/C, especially for a summer vacation but it was manageable. Alisa was very quick to respond to any questions. Area is very remote, if you want to shop or dine it’s at least a 40 min drive in any direction. We enjoyed the solitude and fishing on Loon Lake. Would visit again!

Time Together Meeting All Our Unique Interests

Wonderful property offering something for everyone. We have fisherman, hikers, loungers, kayakers and cooks. The owners graciously provide equipment so we can enjoy all our individual interests while spending time together. Including a fully outfitted kitchen/grill area, canoe/kayaks and wonderful spaces to read and relax. This property had something for everyone's unique interests and allowed our family and friends to create great memories together. This was the second time we have visited this property, does not disappoint!

Spacious and comfortable

Very nice property - spacious, comfortable and well-stocked. Could have been cleaned better before we arrived, but not a deal- breaker. Water access on loon lake not much of a beach area and quite rocky with a very small shallow area if you are travelling with young children.

Beautiful house in a peaceful setting

We really enjoyed our week at this Loon Lake house. The house was clean and cozy with plenty of spaces for our family of six to be together in and plenty of spaces for anyone who needed to be alone to relax with a book. I enjoyed early mornings in the gazebo listening to the birds and the peace and quiet. We prepared most meals at the house, and the kitchen was sufficiently equipped. The walk to the lake is eight minutes, according to google maps, and it is peaceful and beautiful with trees and wildflowers. We had a great time on the lake with the canoe and kayaks and saw some loons, of course! Alisa communicated quickly and helpfully leading up to and during or stay.

Was expecting more.

The cabin was rather dark. It could use an update on lighting thru out. The cleanliness was also an issue. Some dishes appeared to have been put away dirty prior to our arrival. IMPORTANT - There is a Sinkhole developing in front of the woodshed. It is approximately 16" diameter by 20-inch-deep hole in an area where people will be walking. It appeared to be getting larger as time went on. We put some logs in and on top of the hole as a temporary safety precaution. Property Owner should have this taken care of imediately.

R&R at Moose Lodge!

We had such an enjoyable time at Moose Lake Lodge. The weather was great, fall leaves were a spectacular show and the lodge was perfect. We felt like we were home. There is nothing to do but relax! The owners have thought of everything. The kitchen is well stocked with every utensil, pan, dish and glassware that you need. The beds are cozy warm with soft flannel sheets, and the bathrooms are stocked with all linens that are needed. The furnishings are perfect for an Adirondack style lodge, with all the room anyone needs. While some of us were relaxing upstairs, the guys were downstairs playing darts and shuffle board. The pictures are spot on but does not do this place justice. The outdoor deck and gazebo is just what we needed to enjoy our evenings outside after our strolls down by Bass Lake. We can't say enough about this property. Oh yeah - the one nite it did rain, we stayed in and drank a nice bottle of wine by the crackling fire in the beautiful stone fireplace. Perfect getaway with our family! We are looking forward to staying again next year. Renee and Joe

Spectacular lodge with incredible screened gazebo with gas lamp and spacious deck with fire pit

I have rented several properties through VRBO and must say that this property is my favorite - it was spectacular! Spacious floor plan that included 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a finished basement with game room. The location is secluded but with easy access to trails in the Loon Lake Mountain area and canoe/kayak for enjoying Loon Lake, which is right down the street from the lodge. Driving distances to explore and hike in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Keene, and Keene Valley are all reasonable and what glorious hiking trails you have at your fingertips! The owners provided a comprehensive manual that is loaded with information not only on the house but with various things to do . I really enjoy having a fire going and there was plenty of wood to accommodate the fireplace inside the house and the fire pit on the deck. Sitting out on the deck with a fire going, gazing at the stars and listening to the sounds of nature - it doesn't get any better than that. It didn't take very long for my yellow Labrador retriever to get into vacation mode and relax in the lodge. Thank you Alisa for sharing your wonderful home with us. Gialla and I will be back!

Wonderful Stay at Moose Lodge

We had a wonderful stay at Moose Lodge...so much better than staying at a hotel. The property was exactly as depicted in the write-up and photos and it is clean and well maintained. The owner responded promptly to our pre-trip questions. We felt right at home the moment we walked through the front door. The furnishings and décor are lovely and the kitchen is nicely stocked with dishes, glassware, pots & pans, etc. The weather was cold, damp and rainy during our stay but Moose Lodge was warm and comfortable. The cold weather allowed us to use the wonderful fireplace each evening, with plenty of firewood provided. We enjoyed playing darts and shuffle board in the finished basement. The propane heater in the outdoor screened room allowed use even during the rain. There is a huge, wonderful deck with a fire pit and gas grill. Be sure to step out onto the deck once it gets dark and look up at the amazing view of the night sky packed full of stars. Moose Lodge is nestled among the trees and is peaceful and quite...a terrific place to relax and unwind. Keep your eyes and ears open to see and hear the wildlife. We had deer in the yard and heard the loons on the lake. For those who like to hike there is a trail to Lookout Mountain on the same road as Moose Lodge. Within a short drive you can hike St. Regis Mountain or hike the trails at the Visitor Information Center; both are located next to Paul Smith College. There is plenty to do nearby: visit Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, hiking, fishing, canoeing or kayaking. Moose Lodge is the perfect place to stay whether its 'home base' as you venture out to enjoy all the various nearby activities or you just want to sit and relax on the wonderful deck. You won't regret your stay at Moose Lodge.

Beautiful Home, Best place we've visited

This year was our 6th annual guys weekend and for the 6th time we're staying at a new home. I don't believe we'll be looking elsewhere for our 7th annual weekend. We spend a lot of time in the Adirondacks and this is one of the most beautiful homes I've seen. While going through the pictures we wondered if the home was really this nice. After seeing the home in person we believe the pictures don't do it justice. The house is wonderfully decorated and well furnished in an Adirondack cottage theme. At no point in our stay did we feel cramped nor without something we needed. The whole house is very clean and well kept. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining area was large enough for all of us to sit and enjoy a meal comfortably. The great room with its fireplace in the center was a wonderful place to relax. As a matter of fact I got comfortable on the sofa with a nice fire going and enjoyed a nap while waiting for the others to arrive. The bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of room us to walk and keep our bags. In a couple of places we've rented this was not the case. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. I think we could have fit all 6 of us in them and not felt cramped. A few of us even stayed long enough to enjoy the showers. While we didn't spend a lot of time in the game room we did swing down for a couple games of shuffle board. If we were staying here as a family I'm sure we would have spent more time enjoying this room. Outside the home is a beautiful deck with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the view. There is a nice fire pit on the deck and a screened in room where one could go to enjoy the outdoors and avoid the bugs. The wood shed is just a few feet from the driveway and it was stocked with plenty of dry wood for use both indoors and out. While we didn't have an opportunity to use the kayaks and canoe they were readily available. The launch area on Loon Lake is just a short walk from the home or a quick drive for those who don't feel like walking back up the hill. Had we stayed longer we definitely would have made use of the boats. While we have our own it is always nice not having to bring the kitchen sink when headed on vacation. In all our stay at Moose Lodge was wonderful. Our group found plenty to do and we never went looking for something that we couldn't find. I think the owners have done a wonderful job providing renters with everything they need. Thank you for a great time.
