About this property

Beautifully Furnished And Modern Self Contained One Bedroom Apartment

The Space

Large bright airy apartment, perfectly equipped to a high standard. Large bathroom with toilet, wash hand basin and wet room style shower. Bedroom with a UK king size bed, wardrobe and dressing table and a new ceiling fan. Large open plan living room with two double settees, breakfast bar table and stools and a modern well equipped kitchen, fridge, microwave/oven/grill and two ring induction cooker hob. Own private fenced veranda and gate and private entrance to flat overlooking large garden, patio table and chairs and direct sea views. Parking via drive.

Guest Access

Shared drive with ample parking. Own entrance to apartment situated below the main family residence. Totally self contained apartment with shared use of gardens with owner.

Interaction with Guests

As we live in the main house, we are available for help and advice throughout your stay. Denis was born in Grenada so has extensive knowledge of everything you could possibly want to see and do on the Island, all the best places to visit and eat etc. We have two dogs, who would love extra walks with willing guests and are excellent alert dogs.

The Neighbourhood

Bathway is an area of outstanding beauty, situated in a quiet residential area. Friendly locals use the beach regularly although it is very quiet during the week and out of school holidays. Safe swimming is marked by the reef and has a lifeguard during the day. Fishing can be done on the cliffs opposite the flat or along the beach. There are several beach bars selling local rum, bar food/snacks. There are local country and cliff walks down to Levera beach (nesting beach of the endangered Leatherback Turtles ), Levera National park and Lake, and Savan Swazee. Most provisions can be bought at Sauteurs about 5 miles away, or from the larger busier town of Grenville about 10 miles. A small local shop is at River Sallee, a 15/20 minute walk.

Getting Around

Local buses from River Sallee, about a 15 to 20 minute walk, take you to Grenville (change for St Georges) and Sauteurs (nearest shopping town). A car is recommended but not essential, especially if you like walking along coastal routes to catch the bus. Buses from River Sallee are very cheap and regular and stop to pick you up and drop you at your request.

Other Things to Note

We can arrange tours of the Island and collection (at a cost) from the airport. Use of a washing machine within the house is available at additional cost. Due to environmental consciousness we have chosen not to fit air conditioning but the house is kept naturally cool due to the sea breezes. The breeze also ensures we are rarely troubled by mosquitoes and sandflys!!

Great Place
Denis and Jane were awesome hosts. The property exceeded my expectations as well. Being right across the street from Bathway Beach you get the ocean breeze, sounds of waves crashing and of course the view. Jane told me about Levera Beach, which is a 35 or so minute walk down a peaceful, windy road. I highly recommend checking this beach out if you stay here!

Nice experience
The apartment is nice with a great view and front porch. Quiet with great wave sound. The beach within walking distance is great with a natural barrier that makes it easy for all to enjoy the water.

Weso enjoyed exploring the northern part of Grenada, by foot, bus , taxi and occasional rides. Jane and Denis are very condiderate friendly and informative hosts. We felt right at home and spent quality time on the patioto listen to tree frogs at night, watch fireflies and listen to the surf.

Wonderful apartment with stunning view and lovely hosts
We had a lovely stay at the Glass House. The apartment is immaculate, spacious, very tastefully decorated and most comfortable with an outstanding view right in front of the beach. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and we particularly enjoyed the tour of the area organised by our host Jane as her knowledge of the island made it all the more interesting. Only wishing we could have stayed longer to enjoy more beach, trips and hikes! Very much recommended.

Grenada’s NE coast
Dennis and Jane are wonderful. They offered transportation for a fee in the listing and did we ever appreciate that Drove us to two waterfall locations, grand etang, chocolate factory and round trip to airport area. 1 bedroom apartment attached to main house has perfect ocean view and accommodations. Walk to the beach. Thanks again. Jeff

Wonderful hosts
The property lived up to our expectations and more. The apartment was very clean, spacious and comfortably furnished. But the biggest asset was our terrific hosts. Jane and Dennis - never intrusive, but always thoughtful of our needs. They introduced us to their community and we thoroughly enjoyed being part of life in the area. So hard to leave and tremendous thanks to Jane and Dennis

Perfect for couples looking for a quiet getaway
If you're looking for an alternative to the more touristy part of the island, then this place is for you! Located in the quiet northern part of the island, the Glass House is far enough away to be quiet but with all the access to the island and with real local flair. The view from the veranda cannot be beat - wish we could wake up to it every morning! Jane and Denis are great hosts - happy to provide ideas, directions and more - Jane even made dinner reservations for us on the day we arrived so we didn't have to figure out dinner the first night. Made our arrival so much more relaxing! Highly recommended for couples looking for a quiet getaway to spend time together and enjoy Grenada.

Best stay in Grenada!!!
Two weeks of perfect balance between beach and nature. Close to local life and genuine Grenada. Beautiful! Jane and Denis personalize the best hosts you could possibly wish for. They let us in and made it possible for us to experience true Grenada. They did everything to make our stay the best. We asked for someone to take us on a tour for bird photographing - they arranged it with the vet Dr Carter. Awsome!!! Jane and Denis also made my 60:th birthday unforgettable. Staying at the Glass house is a great choise, it has a lovely veranda overlooking the Atlantic and a cool breeze, not to mention that it is spacious and well equipted. Most unforgettable vacay ever!!! Best recommendation to everyone who wants to leave Grenada with a big smile and plans for next visit to the Glass house.

Comfortable stay with a fantastic view!
We decided to stay at The Glass House on the north east side of the island to get away from the busier, more touristy south end of the island. There is plenty to do in the north and we really enjoyed our stay. The Glass House overlooks Bathway Beach, but the swimming area, behind a reef, is just a few minutes walk down the road (the water was lovely). The apartment is very comfortable - the bedroom is separate from the living/dining/kitchen area. The kitchen is well-appointed and easy to cook in. The bathroom is large and you will be able to enjoy a warm/hot shower. We really enjoyed dining on the front porch overlooking Bathway Beach. It was very special. Our hosts were amazing as well - always helpful and caring. In fact, thanks to our host's efforts, we were able to attend a World Cup cricket match (and he drove us there and back! Just amazing).

little piece of paradise
I stayed for a week at The Glass House and enjoyed every minute of is. The apartment was clean and well laid out. It is close to the beach on the quiet side of the island which was the perfect location for me. I can't say enough great things about Jane and Denis. They were very warm and welcoming - providing me with a lot of information of the island. As others have said, they made sure to ask if I needed anything if they were going out. They offered to take me to some of the nearby sites and joined me on a couple of treks. They got groceries for me before I arrived, picked me up at the airport and dropped me off. I thoroughly enjoyed those trips with them - talking and connecting. They felt like family. Jane arranged a day tour of the island for me with a local guide. She also arranged for me to join the turtle tour at Levera Beach and, because I didn't have a car, made sure to check with someone so that I had a ride back late at night. Jane and Denis exemplify what it means to be great hosts!

A Wonderful Experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Glass House. Denis picked us up at the airport for a very reasonable price and took us to a supermarket so that we could stock up to enable us to be fairly self sufficient whilst staying in the beautiful, more remote North of Grenada. He also took us to an ATM for which we were very grateful as we had been unable to get any ECDollars in England. The accommodation gave us everything we needed being really well equipped, attractively furnished and with lovely views across the garden to the sea and islands . All this with the sounds of the waves, birds in the morning and frogs by night. We enjoyed walking along Bathways Beach, just across the small road, to the small locally run beach kiosk style cafes and rustic sea front bar and swimming within the safety of the reef. The 40 minute stroll to Levera Beach and Conservation park was very pleasant and the naturalness of the area was a joy. The 20min uphill walk to River Sallee gave us access to the plentiful minibus service to Sauteurs and Grenville. Denis also kindly took us on an excellent tour of several of the attractions of the North so not having a car was not a real impediment to our stay. We would recommend the Glass House to anyone looking to enjoy a restful break in natural surroundings.

A totally different side to the island!
We stayed one week at "The Glass House." Jane and Dennis have built a wonderful home with an apartment to share with people like us, wanderers in search of unique experiences. The unit is exactly as described. The private, new and modern apartment which is on the first level of their home was beautifully clean and well appointed. We were greeted with a basket of fresh citrus fruit and local spices and a pitcher of freshly made local juice. A nice touch! They do not have air-conditioning (we really didn't need it in February) but will provide fans if needed. The furniture was comfortable, the location quiet except for the ever present sound of the pounding surf. We did not rent a vehicle for our stay, choosing to use the local transit (10 minute walk to the bus stop) which was efficient and inexpensive. They offer to pick up and deliver back to the airport for a fee (the going rate). What a bonus! They also let us know whenever they were heading off somewhere, offering to give us a lift. If you want to see another side of Grenada, do your exploring from "The Glass House." Thank you Jane and Dennis for a lovely stay.

Quiet Peaceful Getaway
If you need a quiet place to get away from the stresses of life, this is for you! The apartment was tastefully decorated and whistle clean. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The ocean view was gorgeous and if you like hiking there is good opportunity for this. Bathway Beach is an easy walk away where you can enjoy an ocean swim and find tasty Grenadian cuisine. Definitely can recommend the Glass House!

Lovely place to stay
Close to the ocean, so sea breezes help to keep it cool. Comfortably furnished and equipped for two. The beach is 5 minutes walk away, with safe swimming, and several kiosks selling food. Kind and friendly hosts. No shops nearby, so renting a car would be recommended.

BEST. ACCOMMODATION. EVER.
From the moment we met Jane and Denis in person, we knew the property as presented would be the real deal. And it was. What an extraordinary treat to have such a clean, comfortable and private spot with open doors and windows right on the wild Atlantic Ocean! We had everything we needed and took full advantage of the natural beauty surroundings, as well as heir two friendly dogs. Jane and Denis offered rides to wherever they were going, should we want to go with and then, hike on our own or get groceries, etc. We didn’t rent a car and got along fine riding public buses and meeting warm, wonderful Grenadians along our travels. They even took us to the Hash, a 5K walk/run that is known as big fun in Grenada. We had a blast! We’d stay here again—without hesitation—and plan to tell all of our families and friends about this gem! If you’re even remotely thinking about this property, just DO IT! You won’t regret it even a little. Jane and Denis, thank you again for your warm hospitality and friendship, and we hope to meet you somewhere again soon. Phyllis and Mike

Schöne Wohnung, eingerichtet mit allem was man braucHt, sehr sauber, sehr schön!

Quiet and restful, with a little spice
We began our Grenadian adventure at an apartment attached to the home of Denis and Jane Munro, located in a beautiful and quiet area, an hour or so from the busy tourist centers in Grenada's southwest. Lovingly built on a hill overlooking the Atlantic, the views were gorgeous, furnishings comfy, resident dogs friendly, and the best swimming beach just a short walk away. Because we did not want to rent a car after a long day of travel from Maryland, they picked us up at the airport and brought along an insulated bag so we could stop at a local grocery store and pick up a few provisions before heading north. That made our first day so much easier, and very enjoyable as we took in the countryside and got many helpful tips from our "tour guides." Denis and Jane also accompanied us on a walk to Bathway Beach that evening where we could grab an inexpensive fish or chicken dinner from one of several side-by-side snack shops and participate in the Monday after Easter celebrations of Grenadian residents--a national holiday. It was an unexpected plunge into Grenadian life, and our hosts' help in navigating food and beverage choices and the walk in the dark was most appreciated. Jane also made reservations for us with the local conservation group that leads night time expeditions to see leatherback turtles nesting on the protected beach of Levera National Park, also a short drive or healthy walk from their home. Seeing the massive female laboring to nest and cover her eggs was a rare gift. The only thing that would make this location better for us would be to have island bus service stop in front of their house, although Jane did give us a ride to the nearest town where we could pick up the bus to Grenville, and she and Denis did seem quite willing to help in that way. We were also told that bus drivers could be coaxed into bringing us to their doorstep on the return ride for a small additional fee. That vibrant mix of color and pulsating music inside the bus was definitely the spice for this part of the trip. We felt privileged to see more of the "real Grenada" in this area, and would be delighted to return here.

Couldn't be happier
My wife an I just returned from Grenada. This apartment is a gem. It is an easy walk to the beach and has expansive ocean views from the deck. Jane, the owner, is welcoming and helpful with directions and local information. That said, the location may not be everyone's cup of tea. If you are looking for nightlife and a wide selection of restaurants, stay closer to St. Georges. However, it you want to explore, see nesting leather-back turtles, be the only people on a pristine beach with pounding surf -- this apartment cannot be beat at any price.

Everything you need for a comfortable stay
Very close to Bathway Beach, and loved hearing the waves crashing as we slept. Kitchen was well equipped with a full size fridge. Remember to bring your own beach towels as that is one thing not provided but the owners but they will loan out for a fee. This property is better enjoyed if you have a vehicle, as shopping and attractions are not within walking distance. All in all one of the nicest properties we have stayed at.

Denis and I have been in the process of relocating to Grenada since 2013, building and designing our own house, and are nearing completion. Denis was born here but moved to the UK aged 14 years. We have been married for many years and have 3 beautiful(now grown up children and grandchildren). We have loved following our dream life here, meeting new friends and adapting to a very different but amazing lifestyle. We are both friendly and love to socialise, Denis being much quieter and reserved than me!! Denis worked as a surveyor , and I worked within social work, but now Denis does Project management and I work a little here within real estate. However we would love to welcome you to our Island and hope to make your stay here as relaxed and fulfilled as we are on this paradise Island in the sun.

Why they chose this property

It has always been a dream for Denis to build his own house, something that would not have been financially possible in the UK. In such a fabulous location, we are truly blessed to have been able to follow our dreams.

What makes this property unique

The view, and the view and of course the view. You will find it very clear why we chose this unique spot over any other on the beautiful Island of Grenada.
