Beat the Florida Heat

We’ve visited the area several times and this cabin was conveniently located to the places we wanted to visit. It was a wonderful break from the incredible Florida heat this Summer.

Great basic cabin

The cabin was great. The driveway has only enough room for one vehicle comfortably, and 4wd is highly recommended. Take the advice of the owner and walk the driveway before driving it for sure. A great remote location near the Nantahala Gorge. Perfect for a weekend fishing trip!

Abundant Tranquil Solitude

Abundant solitude is this cabin to a tee. Beautiful, tranquil and remote. Comfortable beds and great deck. Please heed the owners suggestion of checking out the driveway. We had 4 wheel drive and cameras on our Expedition...so we had no problems. If you aren't use to mountainous steep areas please check first. Otherwise easy peasy. Fabulous location!!

Quick rafting trip!

Great little cabin! Very peaceful. One thing to be aware of, is the last part of the driveway is very steep with loose gravel. We arrived after dark ( I know the instructions advise against that) so we decided to park at the top of the hill and walk down. Not a big deal, just be prepared. Especially if dark, because it is DARK!! :) I would definitely stay again!

Peace and quiet

Beautiful little cabin in the woods. Loved watching the fire flies from the back deck! It was wonderful having a washer and dryer available so we had fresh clothes to wear. We did get our car stuck but the housekeepers responded immediately and were able to drive it out for us. I think you need a 4 wheel drive or more experience than us flat landers to navigate the hill. Would also recommend new pillows. All and all a great stay!

October in Topton

Apparently there were issues with DISH on Thursday before our Friday arrival . Had we been informed, we could have brought movies but no tv for the weekend made for long, quiet evenings. Light didn’t work over washer/dryer and there were dead bugs along the baseboards in the twin bedroom. Driveway to cabin is extremely steep with little room to maneuver a vehicle. Added to this, it rained and made it made difficult to manage the driveway; it really needed paving between the 2 cabins. Description needed to stress that it’s not really close to anything.

About the host

I was born in south Mississippi and always enjoyed visiting The Smokey Mountains. Many years ago, my wife and I bought a nearby mountain cabin and remodeled it into a vacation home. I now live there, full time. Later we were able to acquire some additional adjoining property. We installed a road, water system, electric power and build two more cabins so that friends and relatives could enjoy the mountains as we did. The results are The Cabins at Long Branch. There are now four cabins on forty acres. We hope you enjoy the area as much as we have.

Why they chose this property

Nantahala has snowy winters, cool summers, beautiful spring flowers and strikingly colorful fall leaves. Plus, there are waterfalls, hiking trails, trout streams, mountain vistas and a lot of fun things to do just minutes away.
Nantahala is not over developed with souvenir stands, tourist stops and traffic signals. It is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy nature. Quaint mountain towns, a short drive away, offer food and drink, while a day trip will take you to Ashville, Gatlinburg or the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. A visit to these attractions makes coming home to your own mountain cabin all the more wonderful.

What makes this property unique

The cabins are secluded, yet close to a lot of fun things to see and do. There are only four cabins scattered throughout forty acres, so unlike some developments you do not have noisy neighbors right next door. The cabins are deep in the forest and perched on the side of a ridge, so you experience the true feeling of the mountains.
Our caretakers and I are always reachable to answer any questions.
