About this property
Snowhaus - 3-bedroom Downtown Urban Oasis
After adventuring, retreat to your own hidden oasis in downtown Anchorage.
Clean and spacious with 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, and modern bathroom with washer/dryer combo. In-floor heat to keep you cozy.
Enjoy a short walk to restaurants, the Museum or Saturday market.
Relax to the sounds of bush planes flying overhead as you enjoy our private grounds, with grassy yard, vegetable and herb gardens and berry patches.
Built pre-statehood in 1939, this is truly a hidden gem. The house survived the 1964 9.2 magnitude earthquake that decimated much of Anchorage's downtown. In recent years, the house was remodeled by German architects Petra Sattler-Smith and Klaus Mayer who covered it in insulation and dubbed it the Snowhaus (we affectionally refer to it as the Marshmallow).
The first floor is an apartment with a separate entrance and offers 3 bedrooms with light-blocking curtains, a newly remodeled bathroom, a full-kitchen and a roomy living and dining area. The middle floor is an art studio for Jordan's company, Wren and the Raven. And the top floor is loft-style apartment with 10-foot ceilings and floor to ceiling windows.
