 A large salon/living room (100 m2) with wooden beamed ceiling and two grand open stone fire places – one at each end of the room. The room has three comfortable sitting groups and one piano which is at the musical guests’ disposal.

A teak staircase will take you to the upper floor where you will find three bedrooms, all with beamed ceilings:

2. The Pink Pasha’s Retreat: a cozy French country style room in pastel colours with a 140 cm double bed, its own wc and shower cabin.
3. Mao’s little red: a stylish bedroom decorated with Chinese antique furniture and arts & crafts with a double bed (180 cm) and a spacious bathroom with wc, bathtub, and two basins and lovely views over the grounds

If you instead take the teak staircase down from the living room you end up in the billiards room which features an art gallery with Vietnamese oil-paintings, a full-size pool table and a darts board. Here you will also find bedroom 4

4. The Bedouin’s Bungalow: a spacious, cosy bedroom with two twin beds (100 cm each) and a large Chinese antique sofa that can be made into a third canopy-style bed. The room has its own wc and bathtub and its own entrance from the garden.
If you instead turn left as you enter the house’s entrée, you will come into the dining room which has a beamed ceiling, an large open stone fire place and a rustic wooden dining table that can seat 12 people.

The dining room has windows and doors on each side, one leading out to a large barbecue terrace where you can catch the late afternoon and evening sun.

The dining room has doors leading to the large country style kitchen with all modern equipment: gas stove that also has an electric heating plate, electric oven, microwave oven, two dish washers, fridge and freezer with ice-making machine and plenty of “workspace” to prepare and cook the delicacies of the region.

From the dining room, a staircase leads you to two more bedrooms:

5. The Jade Palace: in gentle green colours, beamed ceiling, a 160cm double canopy bed and a spacious bathroom in what is the “tower” of the manor. The bathroom has hand painted wash basins and wc, shower cabin and features its own Jacuzzi.

6. Ming Dynasty: a bedroom with beamed ceiling in light blue tones with 2 single beds (120cm and 100cm) decorated with blue and white China, antique paintings and a bathroom with its own bathtub and hand-painted wash basin and wc.

If you go through the dining room and past the kitchen you will enter the private suite called

7. The Sultan’s Suite: The Sultan’s Suite consists of a private library style salon with a sit-group and open fire-place. The bedroom has a 160 cm Spanish four poster double bed, country style Laura Ashley wall paper and a spacious bathroom with a large bathtub, separate wc and shower cabin.

Behind the Sultan’s suite there is a laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

A beautiful place.

The house is beautiful and in a stunning setting. It is brilliantly located and is very easy to get into the gorgeous town of Sarlat-la-Canéda and also to other local attractions. We found the owners exceptionally easy to communicate with and very very helpful with any questions that we had. The swimming pool is heated and we all really enjoyed using it. It has a big shallow end and stepped area for younger children and a secure cover to help keep small children safe. The house is well equipped with everything that you will need.

Exquisite property in stunning location

What a magical place! It exceeded our expectations in every way. The sort of property which has you pinching yourself as you explore it. Gorgeous bedrooms, living spaces decorated with beauiful objects. Every comfort you need - even in a 40 degree heatwave, the fans in the bedrooms and of course the divine swimming pool made this a dream holiday. The location is perfect - surrounded by meadows and forests, just 5 minutes drive to shops and the medieval town of Sarlat. A choice of terraces for al fresco meals, a BBQ and comprehensively equipped kithen made dining a delight. Very responsive communications, easy check-in and check-out, we felt very well looked-after. Thoroughly recommended!

A just amazing property

Christina the owner was extremely flexible and so helpful during the booking and that was really appreciated. Refreshing to have an owner work with you to get an owners direct payment system issue sorted. As to the property WOW!. From the moment we drove in we were impressed. It is even better than the images suggest and you will not be disappointed. The Manor is beautiful and so well furnished with some amazing items from around the world. Everyone can meet to eat, or find an idyllic corner to sit and read enjoying the abundant fine wines of the region. Outside the pool and BBQ areas are great, and the gardens well kept in a country setting. If you get a bit of rain the downstairs pool table will keep everyone occupied for hours. For the cooks (that is us all on vacation...), the kitchens have more crockery, glasses and cutlery than I have ever seen in a rental...and the two dishwashers a great idea. Our family really enjoyed this property as it ticks every box that you need for a relaxing vacation in beautiful surroundings. Watch the deer come roaming out of the woods literally into the courtyard add to the experience. It just makes it hard to leave on the final day. I've rented all over the world in the last 30 years and this one hits the number one slot. I never normally return to the same property again, but in this case I might have to break the rule as it is perfect.

Review Le Manoir Oriental – Sarlat – Dordogne

We have had several holidays at this lovely manor house with our friends, with our latest visit in June 2016. We would strongly recommend the house to other visitors who are looking for a relaxing and authentic holiday in the beautiful Dordogne countryside. The house is very impressive and well maintained and has plenty of room for sharing with other families. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and the furnishings are of a high standard. All the bedrooms have attractive ensuite bathrooms with period fittings. The location has idyllic views and we spent many days at the house enjoying the pool and relaxing and eating outside. Even the pool table in the basement got good use. There is also access to wifi for those who need it. When we were able to draw the kids away there were plenty of places to visit in the local area and we would recommend paddling on the Dordogne, the local market in Sarlat, visiting local castles and the early cave settlements. We are very much looking forward to a return visit.  Chris Clarke

Amazing

Review Le Manoir Oriental – Sarlat – Dordogne I spent a week together with 5 friends at Le Manoir Oriental in September 2016. The house is located just 10 minutes drive from the beautiful medieval town Sarlat. In the outskirts of Sarlat there are good hypermarkets like Leclerc, Carrefour and Casino all with a fantastic assortment of food and beverages. In the medieval city center one can find traditional shops, butcher´s, bakeries, wineshops etc. There are a lot of restaurants, bistros and cafés in Sarlat and the food and the service is in general excellent! The house, Le Manoir Oriental, is located in beautiful rural surroundings, hilly, beautiful meadows and forests perfect for long walks or tough jogging tours. It is peaceful and tranquil, no roads, no cars and at night we could hear the owl and see the milky way as there is little artificial light. During this week we rented canoes and spent one day on the river Dordogne, highly recommendable. There is also a nice “green” bike path , a path which is built on a former railroad embankment which means it is totally free from cars. There are also numerous interesting historical sites in the surroundings like the famous caves in Lascaux, a number of medieval castles (Richard Lionheart lived here) along the Dordogne river etc. The house has a fantastic atmosphere with a distinct and tasteful oriental feeling, furnished with furniture and art from all over far and southeast Asia collected by the owners who lived for two decades in China. The pool and the pool area is nice and in perfect condition and adjoined to the kitchen there is an outside fireplace for barbecue and a big table were we spent most of the evenings dining in candle light. Each bedroom is individually and tastefully designed, most of them very spacious and with a private bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and in the adjoining dining room there is room for 12-14 persons to dine. There is a large drawing room, probably 110-120 sq.m with a big fireplace to spend the late evenings. We were all very happy to have rented this fantastic house and highly recommend it. The hosts, Lennart and Christina were very helpful and accommodating and all communication worked out smoothly. Hiroshi Tanaka

A great place with excellent facilities

On a Saturday in late September we arrived, a group of 10 friends , for a week's holiday in the Dordogne area. Our rental car took us through southern France, and when darkness fell we drove into the small town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. From there it was only about 10 minutes drive to the house. We have been to this wonderful place before. The house is large with a huge living room, tastefully decorated in Asian style. It was perfect for our large group. The kitchen is classic with thoughtful solutions such as dual dishwashers and both induction cooker, gas stove and griddle. The dining room, which connects to the kitchen, has a large fireplace, the same kind as the two found in the living room. The seven bedrooms are newly renovated. All have their own bathrooms, several of them with big size bathtubs or Jacuzzis. In the basement is a full-size pool table and next to it an extra bedroom. The pool area in the garden proved to be the perfect place for us to celebrate a birthday party. Nice furniture with an excellent pool. The house and garden felt well thought out and provided a good basis for a nice vacation. The surroundings offer a beautiful landscape with exciting destinations from Europe’s early history all the way from Ice Age. The castles are located so closely that they are within sight of each other. There are nice wineries, beautiful design jewelry and other shopping. Our hosts Christina and Lennart are very service oriented and friendly toward us tenants. Even though we've already been here several times, we will certainly return again. There are always new things to discover.

We are a Swedish family who lived in Shanghai for 20 years. This beautiful French Manoir was our escape to Europe during these years where we could enjoy a green and beautiful environment with historical villages, great food & wine and stunning castles and gardens around the corner. We have now moved back two Sweden with our two daughters so luckily we can visit the Manoir a bit more often, but we still like to share it with other people to enjoy when we are not there ourselves.

Why they chose this property

The first time we visited Sarlat was during our Honeymoon. We happened to come to Sarlat on a Saturday when the weekly, colourful market takes place and we were charmed by the beauty of the village. When we started to look for a property in France, the choice was easy. Since the first time we visited Sarlat, we have always wanted to come back and spend more time in this stunning area with so much to see and do. Just as we fell in love with Sarlat the first time we saw it, we also fell in love with the property the first time we saw it. It is exquisite in all aspects. It embraces so much history as it is built in the 17th century using the same building techniques as some of the castles in the area. The stone floors in the entrance and living room are identical to the Beynac Castle to which the property used to belong. The house is furnished with Asian antique furniture and decorated with beautiful arts and crafts from China, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. It all blends in surprisingly well with the rustic French Manor house. The house is surrounded by its own 10 hectares of land which makes it a green oasis with plenty of outdoor space to sit and relax, either by the pool or in the evening at the large BBQ terrace overlooking the green surroundings. Yet, it's only located 4 km from Sarlat with all its shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

A stunning house in a stunning location. Each of the 7 bedrooms have their own individual design and each has a private bathroom. 2 of the bedrooms feature their own jacuzzi and all of the bedrooms have wooden floors, beamed ceilings and are beautifully decorated with Asian arts and crafts. The house has two huge fireplaces, one in the dining room and one in the living room where it's cosy to sit and talk about the day's events and bright moments. The swimming which measures 6 x 12 meters is heated and surrounded by comfortable sun loungers and garden lounge furniture to enjoy the sun or the shade under one of the umbrellas. There is always a terrace with sun and always a comfortable shaded area depending on each guests preference. The BBQ terrace has shade in the morning and sun in the evening. It is an ideal place for larger groups of people as there are 15 beds total, so it is the perfect place for family gatherings or celebrating with friends.
