Location, location, location! Central Shenandoah Valley. Adorable private 1 bedroom, 2nd floor apartment located in a nice quiet neighborhood, detached from owner's home. This quaint apartment features a living room, bathroom with shower and a kitchenette that includes a fridge , microwave, toaster oven,crock pot, and gas BBQ for quick and yummy foods. Unwind and enjoy a drink while cozying up to our outdoor fireplace. This location features easy access to universities, wineries, skiing, kayaking, bicycling, shopping, good eats and more. Just a mere 20 minutes to Skyline Drive and the Appalachian Trail. Quick access to Harrisonburg, Waynesboro and Staunton.

What a wonderful space! I felt very peaceful in this charming apartment that felt like home:) lovely owners, fun outside seating, very safe neighborhood and close to Waynesboro and Harrisonburg! A perfect spot! I hope to return!

Great Place!!!!!

We were there for the weekend. I was at a bridal shower and our friends live less than five minutes from the house. Everything was perfect about it. Very comfortable and very clean. We will definitely be staying here again. My husband and I also did a visit to the Luray caverns. A lot of fun!

Cute little hideaway

The place was great! Ron and Jill were very welcoming and even though the property was in the middle of the neighborhood, the landscaping made it seem like a remote hideaway just for us. The place was small but absolutely perfect for what we needed. I recommended to friends that live a few blocks away.

Weekend Away

Perfect cozy cabin in a quiet neighborhood with close by restaurants. The firepit under the gazebo was perfect in the evening. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable. Highly recommend staying here.

Owners of property were exceptional! The Space they provided was perfect for the day we came into town for a wedding. They did a really good job making the place feel like home. The owners reached out and gave me a run down of all the best food in the area and let me know of some other places worth visiting and were just the best hosts! Again, we could not have asked for anything better and can’t thank them enough for providing us the space!

Quaint respite

The accommodations were excellent and only a short drive from JMU where we were dropping off our daughter. I cannot say enough to express how wonderful and accommodating Ron was both prior and during our stay. He checked in to make sure we were well and gave us great recommendations on restaurants , breweries and wineries near by. We plan on returning to visit those we didn’t have time to visit!

Perfect little apartment to provide our home base for exploring Shenandoah National Park, Harrisonburg, and the Grottoes area. Ron and Debbie were cordial hosts with plenty of insights and suggestions. A very pleasant experience. We hope to return in the Fall.

Charm, comfort, and creativity

For a full week we road our bikes on gorgeous Bike Virginia routes out of Staunton and Harrisonburg and then came home to this wonderful 2nd story apartment to cook, enjoy a celebratory drink on the balcony porch, listen to birds in what seemed like an aviary, and fall into a restorative sleep on a very comfortable bed. What a lovely place and hosts. Even after a full week, we were sad to leave. It felt like home.

Very comfortable and inviting

We had an amazing stay. I enjoyed the balcony and how sweet and inviting the owners were. Ron was excellent in letting us know where to go and Debbie was so sweet in cooking us a little treat and making sure we had coffee and everything else we needed. If ever I find myself in Virginia again I will come back. Thank you for a beautiful stay Rob and Debbie!

A Cozy Spot

My husband and I stayed here after camping in Shenandoah. It was a great space and our hosts were just fantastic! We would 100% stay here again! The space is bigger than it looks in the pictures and is a separate building from the main house. The outdoor areas were really great as well!

Worth the Short Ride of 81

This might be hyperbole, but Grottoes felt like an American Brigadoon rising out of farmland of the Shenandoah Valley. Ron & Debbie are proactive in terms of communication, and the place itself is a lovely aerie overlooking a well-landscaped garden. Locally roasted coffee and, at least for me, a surprise morning pastry complimented the tidy and well thought out loft.

Perfect stay in a quiet little town

This hidden gem was the perfect place to stay for me and my fiancé. Ron and Debbie were excellent hosts providing reccomendations, a nice little sample of some tasty locally made coffee, delicious hommade treats from Debbie, and Ron even set up their outdoor fireplace with wood and everything! All we had to do was sit down, light the fire and enjoy our evening. I would highly recommend this perfect little spot for anyone traveling through the area. Also, the caverns that are right up the road are an awesome sight to see, and the place is surrounded by good eats. Thanks for everything Ron and Debbie!

In 1972 we relocated from our home in upstate N.Y. to attend college. We fell in love with this valley and other than a 5 year stint in Florida, have resided here. Debbie has worked as a nurse for many years and Ron has been employed publicly and in private practice as a school psychologist/counselor and building contactor. Our daughter is a JMU graduate as well as myself and our son. We love to travel and spend time outdoors camping, kayaking, hiking and biking.

Why they chose this property

The Shenandaoh Valley is widely known as one of the most beautiful areas in the U.S. . It has a deep and rich history particularly intriguing to Civil War buffs with the battlefields and relics so plentiful. We have incredible caverns, breathtaking mountain scenery, meandering rivers and rural tranquility. We have lived in Canada and throughout the US and find this area to be our favorite. Folks are friendly and helpful, quick to extend a wave or a freindly smile. A great place to unplug and unwind.

What makes this property unique

This property provides a private , quiet get-a-way yet accessable to so many outdoor activities. Bring your kayaks, bicycles, motorcycles, inner tubes, fishing gear, hiking boots, skis and water wings. You will use them all. After a full day on the trail or the river relax in our cozy apt.. Outdoor dining , complete with BBQ facilities make for a memorable evening. Top off the day with a nightcap around the fireplace.
