This was my second summer holiday in the lovely Villa Eoliana, situated in the truly beautiful surrounding hills of the historic village of Scopello. The villa is just as perfect for a romantic stay with your partner, as for a friends getaway or a family holiday with children. Salvatore is the perfect host, who will go to great lengths to make sure you have everything you need. There is more than enough space for everyone, a great rustic kitchen, air-conditioning should you feel the heat overwhelming, an inside bathroom and two outside showers, a solarium and a little garden. The view of the golfo from the terrace, is spectacular, and makes you want to stay put in awe for the rest of your stay. Terrace evenings under the stars and the twinkling lights from the golfo, spent contemplating, with a glass of sicilian wine, after a sumptous meal prepared on the outside barbecue, the perfume of sea and sun on your skin, and the sound of the sikadas playing their tunes....need I go on? You will not want to leave the Villa! You should definetely tear yourself away now and again though, and venture into the Zingaro reserve in search of a beautiful cove and azure water during daytime, and try some of the really good restaurants in Scopello in the evenings. The village is only a 5-minute drive from the Villa Eoliana, and if you are really up for stepping out of the recluse, gourgeous and fascinating Palermo is only a half hour drive away, as is stunning Erice and Segesta, and many other beautiful "must-see" places. Thus it is perfectly possible to spend hours at the beach in San Vito lo Capo, have lunch at the Cantina Siciliana in Trapani, and dinner at the Kursaal Kalhesa after wandering round Palermo - all in one day! It is most tempting to keep the Villa Eoliana a secret, but as long as you do not book my week at the villa, and promise to treat the place with loving respect, I do recommend that you try it, if you want a holiday away from it all and close to nature, but still close enough to some creative chaos, should you need a drop of, as a trip to Italy, not to mention la bella Sicilia, always entails. Thank you Salvatore!
