Large Circa 1891 Victorian Cottage
Seven bedrooms: On the main floor is a secluded mother-in-law suite with a separate large sitting room with a TV and full bath. Also on the main floor is a queen bed suite with small sitting area, wood-burning fireplace and full bath. On the 2nd floor is a king bed master suite with a gas fireplace, flat-screen TV & private porch; large separate sitting room has an attached bath. Two other bedrooms sleep two people and have full baths. The final two bedrooms sleep one person and share a full bath. There are 7 other rooms including a large screened porch, large living room, dining room, card room/den, breakfast room, fully equipped kitchen and large laundry room. Two Weber grills, tables, chairs & fenced back yard.
Bay View is the summer campus for Albion College's Music Program thus there are regular performances including concerts, musicals, etc (some are gratis but most require tickets}. Recreation includes a day camp for kids, 7 tennis courts, small protected beach and sailing club.

My parents purchased this cottage as a summer home based on the gorgeous setting and natural beauty of Northern Michigan and it's proximity to our primary residence in Indiana. My brother nad I now own it and hope to keep it in our family for generations to come.
Why they chose this property
Little Traverse Bay is absolutely stunning and Northern Michigan is heaven for communing with nature. There are literally 7 lakes for watersports and fishing in a 40-mile radius and 4 very good canoe/kayak rivers. Bay View is surrounded by woods and Petoskey, Charlevoix, Harbor Springs, Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain and Nubs Nob are a short drive. Beautiful dunes and beaches can be found close by at Petoskey State Park, Sturgeon Bay and Fisherman's Island State Park. There are many great golf courses including the three Donald Ross courses at Boyne Highlands and there are also many fine restaurants in the area. The ferries to Mackinac Island are less than an hour away.
What makes this property unique
Bay View is a historical register community that is very family-oriented. The summers in many other parts of the country are sweltering while Bay View is in the low 70's and sunny with low humidity. The setting is very pastoral and walking and biking is the norm. The cottage is beautiful and the oversized lot is very private. You will fall in love with the very large screened porch...the perfect place to have coffee in the morning, an evening drink or relax with friends and family. If the night air is a tad cool for you, the large wood-burning fireplace in the living room is just the ticket...the two suites with fireplaces will brighten your spirits as well. You won't be disappointed!!
