Dorrance Way Cottage By the Sea

Located just two blocks from the sand with lovely mountain views this cozy furnished 2BR/1BA home has everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay. It features double pane windows, bamboo and linoleum flooring, cable/internet access, washer/dryer, BBQ, large private fenced rear yard and single car off-street parking space.
It's going to be a great summer and fall - come enjoy the beach!

Master bedroom: Queen bed. Kids' room: trundle bed with 2 twins.

This home allows up to 5 persons per CA law. However, the bedrooms are configured for a small family; e.g., a couple with children. The trundle bed is designed for kids, not adults. And with 5 people, someone will have to sleep on the sofa or an air mattress that you bring with you. We want you to have a great vacation with good memories. So please consider booking a larger home if you feel you would not be comfortable. Ask the manager if you're not sure.

IMPORTANT: A Photo ID is required when booking. Your acceptance email will provide details.

CANCELATION POLICY: There is no deadline! If you book a reservation then you can't come to Carpinteria we will waive the cancellation policy below, but only if someone else books the time you reserved. It doesn't matter how much notice you give us. If we get another renter, we want you to have a refund! We will refund 100% of your money if someone books 100% of the time you reserved, or prorate your refund if they book part of the time you reserved.

Great location! Close to the beach!

This rental checks all the boxes: close to the beach, restaurants and breweries a walk away, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It's just a little cottage with a nice backyard. We love it there!

A couple of issues but still enjoyable stay

The house wasn't cleaned properly at arrival and had wifi issues during a couple of days. The manager, Kyle, was very helpful and satisfactorily resolved the issues, and even mailed an item left behind during checkout. Just realize this is an old cottage to manage your expectations. There is a nearby train track but noise was not issue during sleep hours. I do recommend this rental property for its location and helpfulness of the manager.

Relaxing Beach House

Cute beach town house as advertised. We loved the cozy living areas, comfortable bed, and walking distance to beach! Hanging out in the backyard was a plus! Will come back again! Kyle was great!

Week at the beach

Pleasant location. Close enough to the beach to be convenient and far enough away to be quite and calm. Weather was great and the home is close to the main downtown to walk to everything. We had a great time.

Great location

This is a clean, quiet rental within walking distance of the beach and the main section of town—what could be better? This was at least our third time staying here, and we were delighted once again.

Birthday GET-A-WAY!

Charming 1947 cottage. Very comfortable, very homey. I had a wonderful time and plan on booking this VRBO again. I only have 2 very small suggestions - please provide full length mirrors on the back of bedroom doors for your female guests and an ironing board. We found the iron, but no board (we might have missed it). Thank you so much!

Hard to sleep

The house was pretty much as described online and the check-in and mgr. communication was good. When the toilet and shower overflowed, it was promptly addressed. But nobody mentioned that there would construction work in the front and side of the house starting at 7:00 AM EVERY WEEKDAY. They were tearing up the street. This included 15 talking men, multiple tractors and backhoes scraping the asphalt, and 1-2 jackhammers all starting at 7AM. Being on vacation, sleeping past 7AM is kind of a given. I understand that it was the city was doing the construction (they used the front yard to store the tools and equipment), but we could have been told ahead of time seeing as the area was roped off from the previous week’s work. When I approached the property manager about a possible discount (getting 25% of my money back), I was very professionally and politely told to pound sand.

Very nice location, basic place to stay

Easy walking to the beach and town, very prime location. Easy check in. The place itself was ok - none of the lights seemed hooked up to switches, baseboards were dirty, no side tables in the bedrooms. The listing advertises sleeps 5, but kind of awkward place for 4 adults to sleep comfortably, since the second bedroom is just a twin bed with a trundle bed that slides around. The amenities are limited for a 1 week stay, we needed to buy more toilet paper and some shampoo. Internet speeds were ok. Very much enjoyed the walkability and neighborhood. Very short walk to the beach.

Wonderful rental and location

Walking distance to the beach and town—and quiet! This was our second stay, and we had a terrific time. The cottage is clean and well-stocked, and the manager was very responsive.

Fantastic location, cozy cottage

Would definitely stay here again. Cleanliness had some room for improvement. Cobwebs in corners, floors not thoroughly swept (main pathways were fine). LOVED the location so close to the beach. The back yard was a sweet, secluded area to sit and enjoy the cool mornings. Master bedroom bed was very, very comfortable! It would have been nice to have a few more amenities available; enough coffee filters, trash bags, toilet paper and laundry soap for the number of people and length of our stay. Those were a minor inconvenience and we truly loved the place! We will stay again!

Close to the beach

We LOVED this place. Not fancy but that is our preference. Everything we needed and spacious yard to BBQ and hang out. Can't wait to come back.

Very comfortable house and location.

Almost all rentals in Carpinteria are condos. We much prefer houses, specially in this COVID-19 era. This cottage has lots of charm. We spent a very happy week there in September, enjoying the beautiful beach, the wonderful food (Zookers and Little Dom’s) and the quiet house. We will come back!

Great location and decent dwelling

Location is perfect. Couple blocks from the beach, and short 9 minute walk to town. The house itself is reminiscent of a decent college house. It’s not pretty, but it’s also not gross. With little effort they could really enhance this place. Furniture is old but comfortable. Kitchen dishes and pans are average. There are no sharp kitchen knives. There is no air conditioning. I found a fan in the closet that really helped. The yard is a good size, but no landscaping. Has a nice patio, with little furniture. Bbq with no charcoal or lighter. Shelves and floors were dusty. Dryer stopped working on the last day. The filter looked like it had never been cleaned. No coffee, tea, or salt. Soap but no shampoo. The street itself is loud during the day, but fortunately quiet at night. Pet hair on carpet although no pets allowed. Solid place for the price. Lots of potential to be awesome.......

Heavenly stay in this cute cottage by the beach

*Darling cottage a few blocks from a beautiful beach *Easy communication with the super nice property manager *Walk to Linden where you can find wonderful restaurants and breweries *Sunset walks on the beach with no one else in sight *Peaceful days at the beach reading books and swimming in the warm ocean. Loved every minute!

Home Away From Home

The cottage was quiet, quant, and centrally located. Overall, I’d rate it highly but the only lower grade was given to a few items that had been listed as being provided were not; however the property manager brought them over within 30 minutes.

Charming cottage, great location

Cute and relaxing beach cottage
