Perfect for Concerts or Airport Trips – But Read the Details
We stayed at this home in Des Plaines for a concert at the Allstate Arena and found the location to be ideal—just a few minutes away from both the venue and O’Hare, which made airport pickups and drop-offs incredibly convenient. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen and upstairs bathroom had clearly been nicely renovated, and communication with the host, Mayra, was always prompt and helpful. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and though we didn’t get to use the backyard or deck due to the weather, they looked like great spaces to enjoy in warmer months. There were a few downsides worth noting. The upstairs common area didn’t have a TV, even though there was a cable in place for one, which would have been appreciated. Some areas of the house felt a bit unfinished—for example, walls that appeared to have been touched up but not fully repainted. The basement bedroom lacked both a door and window coverings, which affected privacy. Most significantly, using water in the basement caused a strong, unpleasant odor that made the entire lower level nearly unusable—unfortunate since the only TV was located down there.Lastly, while it’s outside the owner’s control, there is a dog next door that barked non-stop during parts of our stay, so light sleepers or those sensitive to noise might want to take that into account. All in all, a solid stay for the convenience and comfort of the main living spaces, with a few quirks to be aware of, mostly with respect to the lower level.
I usually am very impressed with the kind of properties we book but this has been kind of a stab in the back. The property looked really great in the photos. It was absolutely non functional. It was all esthetics and nothing you can really use.
1. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. The one which has slight darkening paper "curtains,", has a bed which you can use.
This was given to my baby since she sleeps in a darkened room.
The other bedroom has an absolutely unusable bed. It creaks every time you even breathe. We even tried switching mattress but the base was ridiculous. We didn't have the time and energy to switch the base. This left us sleeping on the couch.
2. The bar stools on the counter are non-functional. You might be able to sit on them for 2 minutes before you start sliding down. So I didn't really have any place to work except for the small dining table.
3. BASEMENT: This was in caps because this was the worst part of it all. The stench. As soon as you enter the basement, there is a stench where you are technically supposed to be sleeping in.
The laundry was unusable because of the severe sewer smell.
All in all this property, is a renovated cheaply property. You would feel it would fall off even if you breathed too hard. I would pay couple extra hundreds for a better "sturdy" property.
