About this property
Historic Glen Ellyn Home with "Optional" Carriage House
Escape to a historic 6-bedroom estate in downtown Glen Ellyn, IL!
The Dibble Estate is a designated historical landmark within Glen Ellyn's historic district. It was built in 1914 in a Spanish Mediterranean style – with beautiful cream colored stucco and a classic red tile roof. Frederick Dibble purchased the property (used primarily for horses at the time) from Moses Stacey, widely considered the founding father of what was then known as "Stacy's Corner" — later to be renamed "Glen Ellyn".
This home is built for large families and/or multiple families. It's great for gathering and entertaining, yet with plenty of nooks and crannies to find some alone time. The property has a lush and spacious outdoor garden and patio area that was featured in Better Homes & Gardens.
The Dibble Estate is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and admired homes by architects, historians, and community members in the Chicagoland area.
**PLEASE NOTE**
The "Carriage House" is listed separately and can be arranged as part of the reservation; however, you must make a "booking inquiry" first in order to confirm that the Carriage House is also available during the preferred time. Pricing for the Carriage House varies on season and length of stay.

Your host
Guess what? I'm not a management company!
I actually love it when people get to stay in this home. I may be smidge biased, but it is my favorite home in Glen Ellyn after all (a true statement long before becoming the homeowner)!
And fortunately for you, my kids have "graduated" from home life and I have plenty of travel opportunities. So, rather than the home and/or carriage house sitting empty, I would love the opportunity to host you!

Why they chose this property
Glen Ellyn is the quintessential "charming village" in the Chicagoland area. The vibrant local downtown blends small-town warmth with big-city amenities. Directly west of Chicago, Glen Ellyn offers a picturesque setting with tree-lined streets, historic architecture, a bustling shopping and foodie scene, and a welcoming community atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere.
Glen Ellyn is known for diverse historic architecture as the village grew with a local rule that similar architectural style cannot be replicated on the same block. And it is now known for some of the best local restaurants outside of the city itself.
In fact, the popular local corner cafe, Blackberry Market, that anchors the downtown area is owned by yours truly.

What makes this property unique
The "Dibble Estate", as it is locally referred to, is one of the most unique homes in town. It still sits on two parcels and is one of the only homes in town that features a Mediterranean revival style wrapped in a beautiful stucco and with an old world red clay tile roof.
The property is also one of the very few homes in town to be "grandfathered-in" with a fully equipped carriage house, which is now a spacious 1 bedroom apartment.
With all of this said, one of the most memorable elements of the estate is the European inspired patio and landscaping, which was once featured on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens and is perfect for entertaining or finding that much needed respite.
