We loved staying here. The location was great with only a five minute walk to the beach. They had had everything we needed and more (I especially loved the inclusion of dvds and a dvd player) and the decor was so fun. We had a great time here and we would definitely stay here again!
Cute little cabin close to the beach. Very quiet and peaceful. We loved sitting on the deck and seeing the ocean from afar. Short walk to the beach and barely anyone around.
A little dated but perfect location if you want to spend your vacation on the beach. Quick walk to an awesome, quiet beach with great views.

a great location for hiking to lighthouse. the beach area at this location is very nice and quiet. a great ride into the location like you could almost be in Ireland. we had a great time .
The property was an amazing spot! Just 2 minutes from the ocean so we got to hear the soothing waves everyday! It was peaceful with cool weather! The property manager quickly responded to our questions. The home was cozy and big enough for our family to relax! Super cute cottage in the middle of nowhere - it was nice to come back to everyday! Great vacation spot to relax and release stress! We would definitely rent again if we come back to Oregon!

Tidy little home that is just a short walk from a beautiful beach.
This part of Oregon is stunning and this house is a great home-base for exploring it. Our family of four was very comfortable here. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and all the conveniences of home (washer/dryer, full kitchen, yard and deck). Thank you for sharing your place with us!

Comfortable and relaxing place to stay
This little house was everything we had hoped for.
It had the wifi working even though we were there in March so I imagine the owner must have changed their internet service to be year round.
We took the owners advise and got some very tasty Netarts Bay oysters from JAndy in Tillamook. You can also get Netarts Bay oysters at Josies in the town of Netarts.
The nearby Alderbrook golf course was a fun course. The 15th par 3 made use have a good laugh as it is rather steep from the tee box to the green.
The beach is very nice going north or south from the dead end main road.

Rustic beach cottage
The cottage was fine for the cost, but the host had some unrealistic expectations. For example, you are expected to take all your trash and recycling with you when you leave. Not practical when you fly in from out of town. The suggestion to leave it at the Safeway or Fred Myer is not only impractical, but illegal. We were also charged for a "late checkout" because supposedly the house keeper couldn't get in. We were in the driveway and no one even came to ask/talk to us.
As for the house, it is rustic. Beds could be more comfortable. Bathroom is circa 1950s. There are some games and puzzles but no beach toys, no beach towels, etc.

Cozy home in gorgeous location
The Peptide is a cozy house with everything you need for a quiet and relaxed stay. It was wonderful to have a wood stove in addition to a good furnace. Although we made just one fire, it warmed the evening as we enjoyed dinner and conversation. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and attractive. We had a few questions and Sara was quick to respond. She was generous to let us have a small dog part of the time and her pet rules are very reasonable.
Cape Meares has a wonderful beach for walking and agate collecting. We also hiked close by through old growth Sitkas and grassy sand dunes. The sunsets (2 blocks away) were stunning. We watched bald eagles teach their young to fish, saw elk and lots of water fowl. We plan to spend a week there next winter! One tip in the area is to dine at The Schooner in Netarts, which is about 15 minutes from the Peptides. The food was 4 star and the atmosphere quite relaxed so no need to change out of hiking clothes. Locally sourced food from the ocean, dairies and farms. Yum!
HI, Unfortunately the two times I have stayed at this house I arrived to a dirty house. The garbage and recycling look like it piled up for more then a week, there was dirty bedding on the beds, and the house was obviously not cleaned prior to our arrival. After calling the property management ( not dealt with BY Owner) , they sent over cleaners and told us to go out to dinner "on them". Also told us that we would be reimbursed for the cleaning fee and the dinner out. Neither has happened yet. That being said- The property is great, I love the house and the location and the neighborhood. If it wasn't for its mismanagement of the cleaning two times, I would consider going there again and again. I love the place, just wish I didn't have to deal with the lack of cleaning and lack of not refunding me as they said they would. I have photos to back up my comments if needed.
We LOVED the Peptide! It is so cute and quaint! The area is very quiet and peaceful and the house is 4-5 blocks from the beach. The interior of the house is super cute and cozy. There is a washer and dryer on the back covered porch to do your laundry. Sound does carry through the house so if you need extreme privacy between people staying, that could be potentially an issue, but otherwise it is not. Kitchen is well stocked. Fun place!
This cottage provides a quiet respite, just a short walk from the ( almost vacant)beach. There's a nice deck for resting and enjoying the scenery. Wildlife included a visiting deer. We enjoyed our two night stay celebrating our 51st anniversary.
The house was perfect had everything we needed, good instructions from Sara. Look forward to my next visit. Couldn’t ask for anything, comfortable bed, nice linens. WELL DONE!
We love the location of this home and its amenities. The beds were very comfortable, and the house was great for the three of us. It was easy to prepare meals, clean up, enjoy each others company in the cozy living room and dining room. It is an easy walk to the ocean, passing by the beauty of the wetlands. A cleaning service cleaned the interior of the home; all of the important surfaces were very clean. It had a lot of areas -- corners- that seemed to be missed for some time. Overall we would love to stay there again.

This rental has a long list of rules to follow, which we did being respectful of the owner’s wishes. Received an email 3 days after we left saying we broke all the rules and would not receive our security deposit back. We absolutely followed all the rules. We didn’t let our dog in the bedrooms, and our dog definitely wasn’t on the beds, as she’s 14 and too old to jump. Some of the rules she claimed we broke were not even listed. I emailed her to dispute the claim but she never responded, so I canceled the check. Either the owner or housekeeper or both were lying to make some extra money, as we left the house exactly the way we found it. It definitely wasn’t cleaned very well when we arrived. There was dust and spiderwebs in every room and musty smell. I assumed it was always this way as it’s a cheap rental. Owner claimed the housekeeper barely had enough time to clean before the next rental. I checked and the property was listed as available, so no one has rented after us.. The code on the lockbox has never changed, so any number of people have access if they know the code. Next time I rent a vacation property will definitely document conditions with before and after photos.
We loved the quaint rustic cottage. It was clean and comfortable. Make sure to pack all food items needed since no food can be left behind. We loved how close it was to the beach which was beautiful and pretty secluded.
Missed the bit about a security deposit...never had this before. Love Cape Meares...house was adequate.... could not open a couple of kitchen drawers, glad my daughter was able to..... hauling trash out daily was tedious. Loved the endless supply of hot water for showers.Beach is often almost empty, and only a couple of blocks away. Loved watching the birds and deer.

About the host
Hosted by Heather Crawford
We are Ryan and Sara Klobas. We have two boys, Preston (12) and Vance (9). Both of us are native Oregonians and grew up walking the sands and playing in the great waters of the Oregon Coast. Our parents moved here in the 60's and settled in to have a family. We now reside in NE Portland and LOVE Oregon!!
Why they chose this property
We found this little pink cottage through our sister in law, who lives in Cape Meares full time. We put the word out that we were looking, and after about a year, this little gem popped up as a potential purchase. We spoke to the owner several times and soon shook hands and made a deal. Since then, we have made this place our home away from home.
What makes this property unique
There is so much to love about Cape Meares. The 4 miles of uncrowded beach, the drive up the bay, the birds singing as you walk past the lake on the way to the beach, the friendly neighbors, the bright beautiful stars on a clear nite, riding bikes on the spit and beyond, the tidepools if you're there when the tide is LOW, the deck, the wood stove, the great meals on the BBQ, walking forever on the beach or picking blackberries late in Summer. It's just a great place to get away from the craziness of being home.
