The host was delightful. The view was impressive. The house is funky, a perfect Jamestown eyrie, high up and intriguing. My only reservation is that the steep road can be scary in icy conditions.

About the host
Hosted by Banyan Fierer & Steven Wilson
After a successful design career in Boulder,Co , I (Banyan)chose to live off-grid in a few communities for 8 years before moving to Santa Fe where I had a wonderful five-star rated VRBO with sprawling gardens and a unique adobe house. After three years in Santa Fe, I took the opportunity to move to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. My husband Steven and I were married at this house and we now spend time between Colorado and North Carolina where he hand-built his home from wood milled from the family farm. We now enjoy hosting together, meeting new folks from all over!
Why they chose this property
When I first sat on the deck of Porphyry View, the name of the road perfectly described the scene…Porphyry Mountain, with its crags, shadows, sunsets and snowy paintings. Only a short walk to “town” (247 residents), The Jamestown Mercantile boasts impressive music and vittles. There is wonderful hiking, biking and fishing close to the house, making it an amazing getaway with nature and small town living at its best.
What makes this property unique
Porphyry View is so unique with its front-and-center view of Porphyry Mountain. The house is a whimsical mix of vintage that has comfort written all over it. As a former designer, I have been able to incorporate my years of collecting with my love of all things in nature.
