Not at all what the pictures described

We got there and the access road to get there was terrible, had to use 4 wheel drive just to get up the road to the house and almost wrecked our brand new truck on the way up. We get to the house and the deck was still covered in snow, the hot tub was not covered correctly, was dirty and was not even filled up with water. I let the host know, my husband was looking forward to the stay, when he saw the hot tub he was disappointed, we actually found another cabin to rent for the 3 days, so we had to spend more money, the host was not even willing to give us part of our money back. Very disappointed. Another reason we left was the entrance to get in and out was dangerous. We went there for a getaway not to have to clean the hot tub to even use use it.

Cabin in the woods - fall 2024

We enjoyed the comfy bed and living room chairs. The cabin has 2 bedrooms which was not clear to us when we rented it (we thought one bedroom). The hot tub outside is nice. Didn’t have cellular service but did have the the ability to text through WiFi. 1 1/2 baths was nice. Lots of cool wood craftsmanship throughout.

Great place to stay to visit Shenandoah!

Great place to stay! Wonderful secluded cabin in the woods- very peaceful and private. It’s a great location if you are visiting Shenandoah- approx 20-25 drive to Thornton gap entrance and less than 15 min to Luray for supplies/groceries. It was very clean, furnishings and bed very comfortable, fully stocked kitchen so easy to make your own meals (we ate in our whole stay) and the hot tub was a great plus! Hosts were incredibly responsive and easy to work with! Just one note based on the other reviews, the whole area (not just this location) around Shenandoah has very spotty cell/data/internet service as in any rural area.

Relaxing weekend in the mountains

We celebrated our one year anniversary at the Lazy Bear Lodge and it was very relaxing. The wrap-around porch was a great place to enjoy the scenery and the hot tub was refreshing. The cabin was in great condition.

Quiet, peaceful, perfect.

Great location, secluded and private with a 15-20 min drive to Luray, and less than 30 minutes to the entrance of Skyline Drive. Driveway would be a little rough in one spot for a car with low ground clearance, but unless it snows you definitely won’t need 4wheel drive. We had 15-20 deer in the yard every night, including one that was almost all white. Well stocked kitchen and plenty of kcups and creamer for the Keurig. Would definitely rebook this home. If you hike the Millers Head Trail at Skyland, you can look down and see the property.

Nice little getaway

My husband & I enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Bear Lodge! Tons of sightseeing driving Skyline Dr & the Caverns. The road to the cabin might be a little rough for a car but our van made it just fine. We had absolutely no cell service at the cabin but hooked up to the wifi so if you plan to work while staying there keep that in mind. The indoor jetted tub was an added bonus after our daily adventures & the fireplace helped keep the chill away when the temps dropped. It was nice & quiet at the cabin with beautiful scenery all around. Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin!

Lazy Bear Cabin Review - Sept2022

Pros - well stocked home, clean, everything worked, grounds were well kept, lovely wildlife in the area. Cons- No cell/data service in this area on Verizon network!! Unable to get the code to open the door as we had no service to receive email/texts..fortunately the cabin had Ring Video and that's how we got the code. LR furniture was either damaged or badly worn making it unable to enjoy that area. Furniture around fire pit was broken and mostly unusable Road leading to home was terrible, if you don't have a truck/4wheel drive vehicle you could easily damage vehicles under carriage. Info on no cell service should have been in the online listing, a hot spot was provided but not easily found in paperwork in cabin. The home wifi was sufficient to get service but not until you were inside the cabin.

Reunion in Shenandoah - Luray

This property was easy to access even though it’s a bit secluded. The house is beautiful inside and out. A real gem of a find. We were super happy and satisfied with the accommodations. The owner is very responsive. Would definitely rent this place again.

This was a great lodge. A deck that wraps entirely around the building with chairs, swing, hot tub. And the hosts had the building well stocked with supplies. The master bedroom is spacious and the loft is like a second apartment. Location is a bit remote but I'm sure there are people who would find that a plus. Its on a dirt road with some grade so don't come in really low car. My sedan made it.

Perfect Getaway !

5-star for sure, it had all the little things that make a place great. The owner was great too. Highly recommend. Ideal for a romantic getaway; and also perfectly set up for a family with kids. Loved it!

A nice getaway

Although the "neighborhood" is unusual (derelict home across the gravel "street" and a small cemetary just downhill of the property), the lodge itself is clean and confortable. Lynette (property owner) was responsive/easy to work with. Good support (wifi) and lots of amenties make for a very nice escape!

It was okay

We had a great time and enjoyed the property. Was highly disappointed with the hot tub. It bleached my bathing suit and tarnished my grandmothers ring. Not sure why chemicals that strong were needed. I’ve never once had that happen from a hot tub before. Everything in the cabin said that if we had any issues to contact the host during our stay in hopes to try to rectify so I messaged the host and never received a response. Be cautious if you go in the hot tub!

Very well maintained, clean and nicely decorated. Beds are comfortable. Everything you need is there, even lots of spice and condiments for cooking! The only thing missing was soap and shampoo, but I think it was a covid thing; we just drove 15 mins to nearby Food Lions to get that so no big deal. Overall a fantastic experience!

Lovely cabin

The cabin had everything that we needed during our stay with fully equipped kitchen, family games, and the Internet. There was a washing machine with laundry detergent, eating bowls for dogs, high chair for small infants and many more. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and we loved the Keurig. The owner was very accommodating and very responsive. We truly enjoyed our stay!Thank you!

4th of July weekend

Nice environment, plenty of supplies. Would have been great if there had been a ceiling fan or a white noise maker. So quiet I had difficulty falling asleep. Steps to go to the loft area extremely steep. Lots of games, cornhole fun, jacuzzi and hot tub very nice amneities. We would visit again!

The Lazy Bear Lodge was the epitome of quiet, secluded country life with all the amenities that anyone could need or want. All cleaning supplies, bedding, towels, kitchen appliances and cooking utensils are included. We made sure to use the hot tub, jacuzzi tub, fire place, and outdoor fire pit as much as possible and enjoyed playing corn hole every night. Definitely need a gps to find the lodge as you have to travel down a couple of dirt roads to get there and pass some abandoned houses and a cemetery...but that all added to the adventure!
