About this property

Studio In Sweet Cottage Style Home, Quiet And Private Woodsy Setting

I am beginning my 9th summer hosting--it is so fabulous to meet guests from all over the world. Read the reviews and come stay and you will love it.

Note:: I do not take check-ins later than 7:30 pm. (with some exceptions) Check-in is from 4-7:30 pm., unless we've made other arrangements. I ask my guests to remember this when booking, as there have been instances where guests don't realize or notice the timing. I am somewhat flexible in rare situations, but just need to know my guests ETA.

My home is a 5 minute drive to Lincolnville Beach, a sweet small town beach (see photos) with a Lobster Shack, a Pub, ferry and a few gift shops. Also nearby are Ducktrap River, Camden Harbor, Belfast Harbor, Megunticook Lake. Lots of areas for hiking, both hard and easy hikes. The property is located midcoast for easy day trips to Portland, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill There are many festivals, farmer's markets and fabulous restaurants and shopping. There are schooner trips from Camden Harbor, boat trips from Belfast, local fishing. My home is about 2 miles from Lincolnville Beach. .There are also many places to rent kayaks and bicycles. In the morning, I have coffee, tea and often a baked good...time permitting. Note: I have a two-day minimum reservation and a 7 night maximum reservation. I do not accept pets, please do not ask.
The Guest Studio is inside my home and totally private with several rooms and spaces between the Studio and kitchen, bathroom and my room. There is a private entrance. There seems to be a bit of confusion this year as inquires have been about a cottage. I have had the same description for 8 years...I call the space a "Studio" as it is two rooms combined, but open. The Studio living room is at one end of the studio with a gas Jotul stove for cool nights and Queen bed at the other end, and skylights. The pictures are very accurate. There is a window air conditioner, ceiling fan and sliding doors with a screen.
The guest studio, has current photos -- many guests are surprised at the size and that the space actually looks as it does in the photos.

Positively Delightful

Think of an old school homeshare BnB- before commercialized flight ads- thats Victorias place. Beautiful, well thought decor, friendly hostess, serene setting. It was a delight staying here! If you're a polite & reslecyful human accustomed to shared spaces (ahem bathroom & kitchen) you'll find Victorias place a breath of fresh air. It suited us perfectly. Will definately return!!

Perfect Little Studio

My husband and I stayed here for the second time in two months. It's perfect for a couple and you won't find a cleaner location. You do share the one bathroom with the one host. It is in the listing, but I had not read that before our first stay and was concerned when learning of it, but it is no problem! The host is very respectful of her guest's needs. The queen bed is very comfortable. You also share the kitchen, but we were gone from 7am to 7pm and never needed it. Victoria keeps the place spotless! We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful location to rest and relax

We enjoyed our stay with a thoughtful and engaging host. She was knowledgeable about the area and gave us some tips. Victoria made us feel welcome and comfortable and gave us our space. The studio was perfect for our needs and I highly recommend it. It was a bit off the beaten path but still close to many amenities.

Wonderful stay!

What a sweet place to stay. This studio was much larger than it appears in the photos. So comfortable and homey. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our host very much. The area is just beautiful. The highlight was the ferry to Vinalhaven from Rockland. I can not wait to travel back to Maine!

Shared Bathroom w/host.

It seems I'm an outlier regarding my experience with this rental property. I arrived at 4:00 to check-in. This is in the window of the host's published check-in times. Additionally, the host was texted 35 minutes earlier and given a heads-up that we were inbound. The host and rental were not ready. We were asked to come back in 30 minutes. I would characterize the hosts demeanor as perturbed or agitated. She stated that she expected us at 5:30. A couple of things worth noting. The bathroom is a shared resource. To get to said bathroom, you will leave the rented room, pass through the entryway/mudroom, walk through the host's living room and kitchen. The bathroom is off the kitchen on the other side of the building. I only mention it because it is not in the "About the Property" section of the description. You'll have to dig a bit deeper and click "see all rooms and bed details" before the shared bathroom is mentioned. The rental appears to be a converted garage. It is one room with a bed on one end and a couple of chairs on the other. It's fine, it's clean, it's a place to sleep. It's a bit overstated in the description. What you're renting is a large bedroom in someone's home. Last, my partner and I were there for roughly a half hour into a 3 day rental before we tossed our stuff back in the car and went on to find suitable lodging. I'm fairly certain I'll never see a refund through VRBO's process so we'll see what Waldo Co., ME small claims court does.

Perfect For Couple

This studio was perfect for my husband and I. We were in town to visit our son and his family. Victoria, our host keeps the place immaculate and the bed is very comfy. The studio is in a very private and quiet area, off of a main road, but in a good central location, only about 10 minutes from Camden. We are renting it again in August.

Super cute and cozy, close to everything!

We came to lincolnville to explore the area and surrounding towns with focus on Camden, rockland and Belfast which we were able to enjoy even in the rain in 3 days! The studio was super cute and cozy and Victoria was a super host who had everything we could need and more! Sharing the space was super easy as Victoria was really respectful and we were able to really immerse ourselves in the environment by getting to know a local and enjoy the beauty of nature at her home with all of our spots for exploring within 20 minute drives!

Cottage in the woods, Lincolnville ME

This home was perfectly located in terms of minutes from Mt. Battie overlooking Penobscot Bay, a short drive to the Farnsworth Art Museum, and a day trip to Acadia National Park. Victoria is wonderful and provided a detailed list of places for dining, groceries, and antiques in Lincolnville, Camden, Belfast, and Rockland. We loved our dinner at Fresh & Co, Camden. Victoria keeps everything beautiful and clean and anticipates her guests' needs (there's an empty basket in the bathroom for our toiletries, fridge, and comfortable furnishings). There's coffee with freshly baked muffins each morning. Victoria respects her guests' privacy, although connecting with Victoria is a privilege. I can't say enough about how comfortable the bed was...so much more comfortable than our bed in a Portland hotel. So, if you don't mind sharing a bathroom (great shower water pressure!), this is a perfect VRBO off the beaten path where you can use your Cornell Merlin Bird ID app to identify all the lovely songbirds you'll hear in the woods that surround this home. There's a no-shoes policy, so bring slippers if you think you'll be cold.

East Coast Vacation

I would have to say the property was exactly as described. I would have to say I was a little put off by my first face to face interaction with the host. To her credit, Victoria sent step-by-step directions to her home and to avoid using your GPS. What I didn't like was she spent the vey first two or three minutes of conversation "reminding" me that she had sent specific directions and that I obviously disregarded them. Not a good way to start a stay after a long drive. The rest of our stay went fine and Victoria did her best.

Short summer getaway

Victoria’s studio was so peaceful and comfortable. It was a quick drive to the places we wanted to see. She was a great host, nice to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area and restaurants. We should have gone with one of her restaurant recommendations but will definitely visit Primo on our next trip.

A pleasant get-away.

This VRBO is nestled in the woods up a dirt road and off the beaten path but is within an easy driving distance of everything we wanted to do. The “studio” room is spacious and attractive with a comfortable bed, two comfortable chairs, a table and two chairs and an efficient propane “wood” stove. The floor to ceiling windows on the back look out into the woods, with hummingbirds fluttering around the feeder. We had our own exclusive entrance to our studio room and could come and go without interacting with the owner; although when we wanted to interact with her, she was engaging, friendly and most helpful. Victoria is a marvelous hostess, providing little niceties (such as pumpkin bread and excellent coffee) that made our stay special. She provided very valuable recommendations about things to do and places to eat. She was most accommodating to our schedule with respect to sharing the bathroom and kitchen with her. Our stay was very enjoyable

Host profile image
I love to cook, visit with friends, collect wonderful decorating pieces to keep, some to sell. Also love reading and dancing.

Why they chose this property

There are many, many hiking trails, places to kayak and SUP. Beautiful places to sit and read or get going and bike, or run. The doors off the back of the studio look out onto the woods and wildlife. It is quiet and a restful place to be yet a short drive to some upscale restaurants, casual restaurants and the beach and ferries. There is a local family you can phone in a steamed lobster order to and pick up for dining at home or a picnic at the beach. As well there is a neighbor that makes wood-fired pizzas on Friday eves.

What makes this property unique

This property has been my home for 22 years. After looking at many homes, I knew this was the one. It is airy, easy to care for on 1.5 wooded acres. The studio is perfectly situated for maximum privacy, so when my daughter got married and left home, I decided how ideal it was to rent. This is my seventh summer season hosting and I have managed two other rentals for friends. I look forward to many new and returning guests.
