About the host

Originally from California, we now live in North Idaho. We have been coming to Troncones for about 25 years. The families in the village are our family. We have watched it change from dirt roads with pigs, chicken and burros running free to a paved roads and sidewalks with solar street lights on the main streets. Venture off the beaten path and you find the same warm welcome we were greeted with so many years ago.

Why they chose this property

A friend of ours is a surfer and came here for the world class surfing. He invited us down for a visit when he was building his home here. While having lunch at a restaurant on the beach, I watched dolphins playing in the curl of the waves! Yep. I could get used to this....
The stretch of beach in front of the house is flat and I love that we can walk out and decide if we want to walk to the left, towards town or to the right to the tide pools. Our favorite restaurants are within a short walk. The families who run Costa Brava and La Mexicano restaurants are still there; just the next generation! Maybe hop on a bike to pick up fish, shrimp or fruits and vegetables or explore the town. Grab a boogie board or bring your board and head into the waves. There is lots to fill your day, or not.

What makes this property unique

Behind the gate and wall that separate us from the street, is our little slice of paradise. Our house is open air, meaning that the bedrooms in the main house have doors, windows and air conditioning but the rest of the house does not. The pool comes into the living room which keeps it cool in the heat of the day. The bungalows offer a more rustic alternative with palapa roofs and outdoor bath. Think Robinson Crusoe....
There are wonderful restaurants and cafes in the area but if you choose to cook here, we have a wonderful kitchen, and a gas or charcoal barbecue. Antonia, our housekeeper will also prepare meals, upon request.
And best part and what draws us back is the beach and the sounds of the ocean.
