Bright and cheery
Loved the deck and it’s view of the ocean from the hot tub. The place was surprisingly rooms and the many little amenities were great, especially the beach chairs, umbrellas and toys. Only complaint- it was hard to get the bedroom cooled off on some of the days, because there was no cross ventilation back there.

Fantastic Property in Mission Beach!
We stayed at the Salem Surf Sanctuary for spring break this year. The property is very well kept and is in a fantastic location. We highly recommend staying here if you plan to visit San Diego / Mission Beach!

Cool beach spot
Overall, great location and really nice rental. It’s an older home, but well kept and very clean. The home has everything you needed including baby supplies. Location was excellent, close to the beach and restaurants. Hot tub was a great amenity with a view of the ocean.

A San Diego gem
My husband and I just finished a fantastic two weeks at Salem Surf Sanctuary, and we have never had a better experience with a vacation rental. Larry and Andrea have truly thought of everything, from usual items like beach chairs all the way down to a savings card for the local grocery store (on the refrigerator, in case you're looking for it)! The house was impeccably clean when we arrived and well stocked with anything we could have needed. Communication with Larry and Andrea was quick and easy throughout the booking process, and Larry even checked in via email after our first week to make sure we had everything we needed. The neighborhood is fantastic. The house is so close to the beach, and equidistant in the opposite direction is Mission Boulevard, which is full of great restaurants within walking distance on days when you don't feel like driving. Every day at Salem Surf Sanctuary was an absolute treat. We will definitely stay here again when we come to San Diego in the future!

Just what we were looking for
Wonderful stay! The property was exactly as advertised. Larry and Andrea made it super easy from reservation through checkout. We elected to pack light we did not have a car. We took Rideshare from the airport and then downloaded the Pronto bus pass. The number eight line will take you anywhere you want to go from Ocean Beach to Pacific Beach and everything in between. Easy walking distance to everything you need or desire. Staying just off the boardwalk was way better than Oceanfront. This Bungalow allows you to feel your part of the community while still being able to get your toes in the sand in less than a minute. We only have a couple 'got to go back' places, this will be our third, we will visit again.

Amazing little beach house!
This beach house is everything advertised and more! The owners pay attention to every little detail and took great care to ensure we had an amazing vacation! The deck and hot tub are what made us want to rent it and we spent the majority of our time there! We will def be back here!

Family beach getaway
Larry and Andrea are great hosts! Our family of 4 were comfortable and happy staying at the beach house! We had everything we needed and more. They take great pride in their home as they should, it is a wonderful place. The house rules are easy to follow and meant to keep the place in such good shape. We highly recommend the Salem Sanctuary.

Love this house....
We have stayed at this property many times this was the first time we stayed for a whole week. Very close to the beach the house is supplied with everything. Grocery stores , liquor stores and restaurants are walking distance. We really enjoyed waking up eating breakfast looking at the ocean on the patio and eating dinner watching the sunset. The best part of it is relaxing in the spa after a long day in the sun. Larry and Andrea are amazing host.

Great place, great location!
First off, Andrea is awesome. She really males sure you have everything you need in the place and is always available if you have questions and/or needs. The lace itself is great. The front patio is amazing with ocean views and plenty of space. The house was a perfect size for our family of 4. Location is amazing right at lifeguard station 20. Near many restaurants and everything you may need. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Pacific Beach Perfection
Salem Surf was the perfect place for us to stay in our favorite part of San Diego. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and relax. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, and the side deck and the hot tub were relaxing and clean. They have a parking space, but we didn’t use it since we used public transportation using the Pronto app. The bus stop was near the house along Mission Blvd. It was the perfect way to get around without a car. The location of the home was one reason why we initially rented it. We could see and hear the ocean from the side deck, and walking to bars, restaurants, and grocery stores was easy. Andrea and Larry were great hosts and answered our questions quickly. We will definitely be back to enjoy this perfect space.

Honeymoon Bliss!
My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our honeymoon and we loved every second of it. Larry and Andrea were so accommodating and have everything you need! The location is perfect; right next to the beach and near many restaurants and shops. The hot tub was our favorite part! So relaxing and we can’t recommend it enough!!

We couldn’t figure out how to get different channels on the tv but the ocean view made the trip great. It was in the low 40’s when we woke up and the portable heaters didn’t help much.

Love this home its heaven.
Beautiful home great hospitality amazing view. The patio is a great place to relax watch the sunrise and sunset while sitting in the spa. I definitely will be coming back. Lots of liquor stores, shopping. and restaurants walking distance.

Beautiful house 100'feet from the beach. Spa was very nice to relax in you can enjoy the sunrise and sunsets. You can even see the ocean and hear the waves crash on the beach. No problem with the neighbors it was very peaceful and the "designated"parking spot was very convenien hard to find at the beach. There are plenty of liquor stores, restaurants, and shopping stores in walking distance. We have stayed at many verbo houses and this differently is our favorite. And the bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. We will most definitely be going back to this location. Thank you so much Larry.

This cozy little one bedroom was the perfect get away! It was just enough room for my partner, 2 boys and I. Seconds away from the beach and kept exceptionally clean plus a hot tub! They have everything you may need and more. I would definitely recommend!

Great patio in the best location!
My family and I had such a wonderful time at this property! We really couldn't have asked for a better location and home to spend our week! We set up camp on the beach daily that we could keep an eye on from the patio, ate every meal outdoors, mom and dad even soaked in the hot tub in the evenings after the kids went to bed. The property is clean and well equipped with literally everything you need; the good, high quality products/items you'd have in your own home! Everything has been remodeled, the pictures don't do it justice. The 1 bedroom is very large - we had our 10month old in her pack n play with plenty of room to spare (a pack n play was available to use but we had brought our own) and our 8yr old slept on the pull out couch. Something to note: There is no AC and windows don't open but the large fans provided kept us plenty cool with the doors open for ventilation. It did get a little warm when we left and had to lock up the house during the warmer times of day, but quickly cooled down with the doors back open. This definitely wouldn't deter us from booking here again in the future! Thank you for sharing your home with my family!! We really appreciate all the care and thought you put into this sweet little oasis!

Excellent seaside treasure!!
Our stay at this wonderful ocean view cottage was unbelievable. The outside deck with hot tub was so awesome for relaxing evenings enjoying the cool breeze and sounds of the ocean waves! Inside is beautifully decorated with all new furniture and everything that you would ever need is there. Thank you Larry and Andrea for making us feel at home. I've lived to enjoy life in San Diego and around the world. I love action sports and have surfed, skated and snowboarded most of my life. I've built my home around the San Diego lifestyle and love sharing it with guests. I also have a wonderful daughter that was born in 2013.

Why they chose this property

The location and decor is possibly you are here and you will love it. This is a rare stand-alone property with absolute privacy just 50 steps from the boardwalk / beach. Many prefer the privacy off the boardwalk with all its hustle and bustle. Its extremely central location with coffee shops, liquor stores, rental places, surf shops, boutiques and multiple restaurants within 3 blocks just can't be beat. There aren't many spots you can see the beach and boardwalk from the privacy of your own deck surrounded by tropical paradise and lounge in a hammock or hot tub and watch the sunset!

What makes this property unique

Its not on the crazy boardwalk but you can get there in your sleep and enjoy the crowd and the sunsets with ease. The privacy and size for a one bedroom simply cannot be beat and with the hot tub your'e in your own suite which is quite rare unless your in a huge developed home on the boardwalk.
