Everything was easy. Nichole and Mario were helpful with everything before and during our visit. The place was clean and just what we were looking for. We had a wonderful stay
Nichole and Mario were outstanding hosts; availables responsives, authentically sympathetics and providing useful advices regarding restaurants and tour operators. We did 2 great hikes with Mario. The apartment had everything we needed; much enough space for 2, good bed, a well equiped ktichen, fast enough wifi. The only downside, despite all the windows, there no much light getting inside, thanks to abondant rainforest in the back yard. However, the porch outside was the perfect place for eating, even when it was raining. We cooked most our meals. I suggest you order your fish or meat thru Nichole. We had an outstanding mahimahi grilled on the BBQ. We did the 2 Corcovado and the Magrove tours with Piccolino. Worth it!In summary, great little home, with outstanding value.
Mario met us as we departed our boat shuttle. The next morning he took us for a great walk with so many birds. We saw howler monkeys, capuchin, agouti, toucans, aracaris, tons of tanagers, hummingbirds, parrots and so many more species just at the house! Mario put a banana in the bird feeder and we watched toucans, aracari and tanagers eat! Super Mario is an excellent host showing us the ginger, turmeric, bananas, plantains and cocoa growing in his yard! Great place for a couple or family of three.
The house is exactly as advertised. Extremely beautiful setting, clean, and has all the accommodations you may need. Located very close to town making for an easy walk to the beach, breakfast, dinner, or just to see the sights around Drake. Nicole and Mario were extremely helpful in finding us tours around Drake Bay during our time. They were available during our entire stay and had great recommendations for restaurants, tours, and activities to do during the day. We enjoyed morning strolls with Mario down to Rio Aguajitas spotting birds and getting to know Drake Bay better. This was an amazing vacation in Costa Rica and Nicole and Mario were exceptional hosts! If you’re looking for a place to stay with nice accommodations close to town, stay with Mario y Nicole!!
The cabin is perfect. Comfortable beds and nicely stocked kitchen. Short walk to the beach and fabulous restaurants
Mario is a gem. A lovely man who went out of his way to chat and give us helpful information
Highly recommend the property
Our hosts Nichole and Mario were top notch. Very responsive and extremely helpful with tours and transportation, and all around assistance. Mario was on site and not only is he a warm and gracious host, but we felt that we had our own concierge. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of each day. He is also an expert at animal sightings and very knowledgeable about all the species you can see on his property. His passion about the wildlife and helping his guests is very obvious.
As far as property…. WOW, what an amazing private oasis!! The casita is located on the property that Morio and Nichole own but yet it still felt private with lush forest all around us . The casita was clean, very well appointed, and had just about everything that we could possibly need. We cooked in quite a bit and the kitchen with fully stocked. We enjoyed sitting on the patios in the mornings and evenings, just taking it all in and seeing monkeys, toucans, iguanas, macaws and an assortment of other wonderful animals. From the casita you can reach restaurants and stores within a 5 to 10 minute walk. The beach is a five minute walk away, and this is where everybody meets for the tours.
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the Casita. We would recommend it to anybody visiting Drake day that’s not looking for a standard hotel. The casita offers so much more.
A huge thanks again to Nicole and Mario for helping us to have such a wonderful time on the Osa!
Such a unique property. Mario and Nicole are great, helpful and attentive hosts! Mario is a great hiking partner and will get your heart rate going for sure. If you get a chance, go birding with neighbor Jose (absolutely stunning number of birds that you can see by just walking the perimeter of town). Recommend it to anyone who loves nature but also likes the convenience of being close to town.
Our host was kind enough to meet us at our boat to Drake Bay and helped us with information about the area. The place was clean and comfortable, it looked out on a reserve where we were immersed in the rainforest sights and sounds. We had a lovely time.
Right from the time of booking to our departure, our hosts provided guidance and support to make the most of our stay. Mario was on the beach to meet us as we arrived by boat from Sierpe and he made arrangements with a collectivo taxi to take us to Palmar Norte on our way out.
The casita is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Toucans flew in as we arrived and I could see monkeys in the trees while I was showering.
I would recommend this lovely place for a couple or small family, as there is a third bed in the bedroom. And I would probably book 5 nights rather than three. There is so much to see and do here. Wished we had more time to walk the coastline trail to Playa Josecito.
The only word of caution would be for those who are interested in snorkelling at Isola Cano. It was the attack of the jelly fish. Wetsuits are highly recommended if you want to avoid the stings.
We stayed 8 nights and we loved everything about our time here. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook from home, and Mario supplied us with purified water, coffee grounds, and sugar. The open-air bathroom was a unique part of the house and was great for viewing wildlife. We saw spider monkeys, capuchin, toucans, and more right from the shower. The bed was comfortable, and the AC worked great. The house is close enough to restuarants and shops while also being in a quieter part of town. The hosts were incredibly responsive and went above and beyond to help coordinate our arrival, recommend trips, and even secure a taxi to our next destination (even a week later when we had already moved to a different house). We cannot recommend this house enough. Just book it.
From beginning to end it was wonderful. We stayed in casita mango, rustic charm with all the comforts of home. A lot of love and thought went into creating this little piece of heaven. The garden and the wildlife it attracted was nothing short of spectacular. Great place for bird and wildlife watching while having coffee or a cool drink in the early morning or evening. Howler monkeys we heard but didn’t see but white face capuchins and spider monkeys provided at home entertainment daily. Lots of iguana, lizards and the quiet agouti silently crossing the lawn. Thank you Mario for being the perfect host in our first visit to drake bay.
Sweet family and lovely house with patio facing into the jungle!
Mario and Nicole were wonderful hosts and made sure we had everything we needed! The house was well equipped, and Mario was very accessible in case we needed anything.
Also, Mario"s garden is lovely!
From our patio we viewed howler moneys, scarlet macaws, toucans and a hawk.
Nicole set us up with en exceptional bird guide, and made my partners stay.
Thanks!!!
First of all, my wife and I were completely out of our comfort zone here. Do not expect all the comforts of home. We had what we needed to enjoy this stay. However, for us this was an amazing 5 star experience. The property was beautiful. Wildlife visited everyday. The surrounding terrain and environment challenged us physically and mentally. We learned so much about ourselves and the resilient people who live in Drakes Bay. Fortunately for us, we had some super wonderful hosts that helped us through the challenges and also pointed us in the right direction when we were lost or confused. Nichole prepared us a bit with what to expect when we arrived. (Make sure you read the booklet). Her husband, Mario was awesome. From the moment we landed by boat, he was there to greet us. He helped us to navigate the area, gave us great aadvice and suggestions.. Without him, this would have been much more difficult. The most important criteria for us in this area are the hosts. We scored a homerun and experienced the most amazing journey of our lives.
Large, comfortable, well-equipped casita on beautiful property just a short walk from beach. Lovely outdoor shower, A/C, internet and good kitchen. Mario arranged our tours and helped us with our luggage to/from the boat. Highly recommended.

Wonderful and Highly Recommended
Mario and Nichole are excellent hosts! They are logisticians, helping you book your tours and then meeting you up with your guides the day of your tour. They can arrange for whatever you need. Mario met us at our beach when our boat arrived and helped us carry our luggage up to our Casita. Such nice people!!! Their little Casita is charming, clean, and tight enough construction that I did not worry about nasty critters getting in. Not that there are any, but I was worried prior to arrival and felt completely at ease here. We had a pair of toucans living behind our room and a plethora of birds and wildlife to watch when we were relaxing at home. The bedroom has air conditioning, the bed was comfy, so we slept great. The Casita is set behind a secure wall and locked gate. Everything is walking distance--the beach, great Tico food, and tour operators. Drake is an excellent destination to get a true feel of the rich biodiversity of the Osa Peninsula. From here, we went diving with Cano Divers, did a Mangroves tour, the Night Tour with Tracie the Bug Lady (a must) and a Corcovado Hike from Sirena Beach to the Ranger Station -- all fantastic tours. We highly recommend the Mango Street Casita!!

Beautifully landscaped, clean and private.
Fantastic place with incredible hosts. Nichole and Mario were so helpful from the very start. They helped us get our boat taxi to and from Drake's Bay as well as several amazing guided tours we took. As 2 women traveling alone we felt protected and yet had our private space. Their home away made our visit to Costa Rica! Thank you!!!!!

A truly local and idealic setting.
This place is incredible. We stayed 5 nights in April. Right from our arrival at the beach, the host saw to it that we were well taken care of. The casita is set on the edge of the jungle. You will see wildlife and birds right from the patio hammock. The hosts provide everything to make you feel at home. I am picky about kitchens in vacation rentals. This one had more than adequate kitchen facilities and equipment. In fact, we ate in 3 of our 5 nights in Drake Bay (it helps if you can catch fish). One can walk to the beach and the store within 5 minutes - no car necessary. The best part of the stay were our hosts who saw that we had a great experience.

Love this place!
This year we stayed at the Mango Casita and last year, Mango Carsona. We loved both properties, clean, comfortable and great location. Walking distance to beaches, tour operators, markets and restaurants. Abundant birds and wild life in and surrounding the property. The owners Mario and Nicole are absolutely the best, great customer service and very knowledgeable about the Osa area. both long term residents. We will be back, hopefully sooner, rather then later!

Beautiful spot in Drake
My brother and I were very impressed with Nichole and Mario's casita. Beautiful wood details throughout, tiled floors, lots of room to spread out. The outdoor bathroom (covered by a roof) was awesome. Felt like you were taking a shower in the jungle. Nichole and Mario were great hosts. The first day we were there, Mario took us on a an amazing hike down the coastline to go snorkeling. He cracked fresh coconuts for us and showed us monkeys and other wildlife along the way. Was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you guys!

Jungle paradise
In the heart of the Drake Bay village, the Mango Street Casita, is like being secluded in your own jungle environment. Hosts Mario and Nichole have created a beautiful environment with the most beautiful plants and trees. In the morning, we enjoyed sitting in the patio and watch the birds, listen to the holler monkeys, and once we observed a sloth moving up a tree. The house has all the conveniences you need to make yourself at home. We shopped for our vegetables locally and cooked them in the casita. Electricity was installed not long ago in the village so there is not yet a lot of development. A perfect vacation. Our hosts couldn't be more helpful in arranging adventure tours and ensuring our safety. The house in on a private lot with private parking if you rent a car. It is less than ten minutes to the beach. English is spoken so no worry about communication, There is always, the charming daughter, who is bilingual, who always ready to assist.
Yes, there is even internet connection is the casita. Highly recommend.

Intimate Drake Bay Retreat
After staying with friends at an all-inclusive Drake Bay property last summer I could not wait to go back. But this time I wanted to experience Costa Rican life from a local perspective so opted for the Mango Street Casita; I got just what I was looking for and then some!!
The Casita is located a short walk from Drake Bay town, but is extremely private. The owners and hosts Mario and Nichole live on the same property and have taken great care to maintain the natural jungle habitat while offering terrific amenities to guests. My favorite part of the Osa from my previous visit was being surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife, and I was delighted to have that same feeling on Mango Street. The Casita was extremely well appointed with everything I needed--from comfortable, cheerful bed/bath/living furnishings to the fully stocked kitchen.
Nichole and Mario were super helpful giving me tips about grocery shopping and restaurant options, arranging tours and sharing ideas of places to explore on my own. They were extremely gracious and unobtrusive at the same time--I truly felt like this was a vacation tailored to me!
I would not hesitate to recommend this property and am already planning a return trip with my children in tow!!

About the host
Hosted by Nichole Dupont
The hosts are long time Drake Bay residents with almost 3 decades in the tourism industry. in the area. This Gringa/Tico couple can offer you a stress-free vacation by providing tips and support where you may need it. Often times visitors are unsure how to connect the transportation or how to book certain tours in advance. We have the experience and we can do this for you.
Why they chose this property
This vacation rental is ideal for nature lovers with the comforts of town. The location is secure and quiet. The rental borders a forests area that is a natural corridor for monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, and MORE. This is an economical option for otherwise expensive paradise. The resource of the hosts is also invaluable. The guest house was built for my mother- a writer and a painter. Just close enough to the main house for security but just far enough for privacy.
