Family Vacation

Spent the week with my family for a beach getaway. Loved the house and the location. House was clean and AC worked great on those hot afternoons. Walk up and down to beach is a little hard for little ones and the older ones but overall it was amazing to just walk down to the beach at anytime. House had anything and everything you could think of from games to beach chairs the only draw back was the grill. The grates were completely rusted over and not safe to use but that was our only complaint. Will be back again next year.

Family vacation

The weather and the beach were absolutely beautiful! The location was not great. There is no yard, and there is no dining table inside. Fortunately, we were able to eat dinners outside. Getting back in there is complicated as the road is one way and very narrow. This became a bigger challenge when a tree fell and blocked the entrance for a few days…but not typical. Overall, we made the best of things and had a great time!

Nice location, property needs attention

We liked the house overall but it really needs some maintenance. No hot water when we arrived. Property manager responded to correct the problem. The deck was not usable due to lack of cleanliness. Washing machine was unreliable. No ironing board which made it challenging to prepare for our wedding-related activities. Someone else’s dirty clothes left in dresser drawer. Ants found throughout. Window cranks didn’t always work. Our family enjoyed the lake. It is a beautiful spot!

Graduation weekend

The property was absolutely perfect! We had family coming in from several states and needed a place to be together to celebrate our grandson‘s graduation. The rooms were perfectly laid out. We have places for babies, young children and adults! Access to the beach, the lighthouse and the beautiful sunsets was icing on the cake. Thank you so much for letting us use it!

Great cottage for a family vacation

We rented the cottage to get our children and grandchildren together. It was an excellent space for everyone to decompress, relax, and visit. The walk to the beach was doable for both the toddlers and there was a small playground right across from the cottage that helped tire them out. We spent a day each in Saugatuck and downtown Holland for shopping, both within a short drive. The cottage kitchen was well appointed and the grill was easy to use. The only issue we ran into was storms that caused the power to go out the 1st night there. And it wasn't really a problem but a good reminder to pack for emergencies, as well. There were no candles or flashlights in the cottage, but fortunately we had a flashlight and someone else had a couple of battery operated camping lanterns which saw us through until the power came back on. Overall, it was a great stay and we really enjoyed the cottage and the location!

Wow. Just an amazing stay

Very clean, well maintained, great communication and location! It's a perfect tucked away spot with private beach to explore and relax / take in the sun. Wish downside was having to leave. The pictures are spot on and even the dog loved the house. Excellent patio to relax and listen to the wind and watch the deer. Thank you for the amazing service!!

Wonderful stay

We very much enjoyed this rental. Parking was easy and it was nice to have room for 5 cars. The house was very comfortable and having a great room/kitchen had room for all. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, appliances, etc. Host was super responsive. Would definitely stay there again.

Great House, Great Location

This place is awesome! Plenty of space, clean and nice decor. Loved the house. Plenty of room and everything you need for a big family group. The Macatawa area is so interesting and fun to explore. I grew up on the east side of Michigan and never heard of it, so it was a very pleasant surprise. The short walk to the beach, down hill through a very unique neighborhood did not get old. The beach is amazing and the walk out to the lighthouse, at sunset was unforgettable. We stayed for a very warm week in May and needed to turn on the air conditioning but found it wasn’t working. We called Kathy and she had someone there to fix it within a few hours. Would love to go back again in the future.

Great house for multiple people close to the beach

Excellent house for our family which included 3 kids, 2 parents, and 2 grandparents, which could easily fit more. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and such. The beach is maybe a 5 minute walk down the hill, which was very convenient. We could easily see coming back.

A great weekend!

Beautiful comfortable house with plenty of room. It had everything we needed. Easy walk to the beach. Went there many times a day(early morning walk, to swim, for sunset, at night to see the stars). Kathy made everything from signing up to rent to check out so easy. Close to so many things: Saugatuck Dune Rides, Dutch Village, Zoo in Grand Rapids. Going back next year! We’ve been guests of VRBO properties for years. This is one of the best!

Sibling Reunion

We had a great family visit in Macatawa. The home was just as advertised, with everything we needed. We loved the location; it was beautiful & a short walk to Lake Michigan. Listening to the waves on the lake at night was an added bonus. Prior to our visit, we studied some of the history of Macatawa & it's influence in L. Frank Baum's book, The Wizard of Oz.

Ideal Lake Michigan Beach House

This was our third time staying at Owl’s Perch and it won’t be our last. We love the neighborhood with its easy access to a WONDERFUL beach. The house itself is very well appointed, plenty of room, comfortable seating, fireplace, everything you need in the kitchen (bring your own food of course), gas grill on the deck, usable beach equipment in the shed, etc. Kathy (the manager) is very responsive and helpful. Highly recommended.

Large accommodations with walking distance of Lake Michigan

Although the drive to the Owl Perch within the Macatawa Association seemed twisty, turning and steep, just think of it as a driveway, not a road. Very clean and well stocked supplies which was appreciated by our 10 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog. Communication with Kathy Bright was EXCELLENT! She is very responsive and answers all questions. A great place to walk (despite hills), lovely neighborhood and nice views of Lake Michigan. It is about a 10 minute inclined walk to Lake Michigan—not a problem unless someone has mobility problems. Close to Saugatuck, Douglas and downtown Holland. We absolutely enjoyed are week at the Owl’s Perch.

Beautiful Fall Retreat.

Our cottage stay was the perfect location for our mid-October visit to Holland. Temperatures were cool, but the colors were warm and welcoming, much like our host and cottage owner, Kathy. First of all, Kathy was very responsive during the online reservation process. She sent timely reminder emails including just before our trip. The information was very thorough and clear and made it easier to find her cottage. The check-in process was simple where we just sent a text message to the owner and Kathy quickly replied. We had no issues during our stay but were comforted to know the ease and responsiveness of communicating directly with the owner. The cottage is at the top of a winding hill. The road leading to the cottage is narrow in almost feels like we are driving on a wide bike path. Because we arrived at night, It was difficult to see up the narrow winding road to Kathy's cottage. Hence, I appreciated the detailed directions that brought us to the front steps of the cottage. The cottage is beautifully remodeled with comfortable and relaxing seating both on the main level and lower level. The kitchen is well stocked with necessary utensils. There is a large counter with stools for dining instead of a sit-down table. Because we were at the cottage in the fall, we did not take advantage of the larger outdoor dining seating on the large deck which would be very enjoyable in the summer. This cottage will be ideal for a larger or multiple family gathering, especially with the double bunk room which would easily sleep six children or guests (2 double/single bunk bed combo). The cottage community itself is beautiful and maintains a historic feel even though many of the cottages are new and modern. The "short walk" to the beach does require a walk down a steep hill which also means going back up again. This made for invigorating morning runs. The Holland community is beautiful with many restaurants and fun downtown shopping. We most enjoyed just sitting and relaxing in the cottage which was our "home" for our short stay. Thank you Kathy for your hospitality! Dan V.

Absolutely what was needed!

We had a wonderful experience renting this property. Communication with owner was efficient. Expectations were spot on because property description was very accurate. We truly had a great vacation with no added stress. Everyone even agreed that the hill up and down to the beach was a “bonus” because it helped ease the guilt of eating all the extra snacks and helped get the kids and dogs tired out for a good nights sleep.
