About this property

Hollerback Hunt & Yacht Club, peaceful, family, pet friendly, private dock 6 Acres

Welcome to Hollerback Hunt and Yacht Club! Just kidding, there is no Hollerin', Huntin' or Yachtin', but if peace and quiet is what you're after then this is the perfect place to relax and unwind. We welcome those who enjoy nature and can appreciate and maintain the peaceful atmosphere that we and our neighbors cherish.

We are located in Altamont, TN which is an hour and a half from both Nashville and Chattanooga, and 45 minutes from Sewanee, Monteagle, The Caverns, Manchester and McMinnville. Altamont is approximately 2000 ft. elevation and temperatures are 10-15 degrees cooler up on the mountain than in the cities.

We are a family friendly retro cottage/cabin nestled in the trees on our 6 wooded acres next to a 10 acre spring fed lake, which keeps it full pool year round, and our own private dock and sun deck for swimming, sunning, floating, catch and release fishing and paddle boating.

Well behaved pets are welcome for a small fee but must be on a leash when off the property. They are also allowed at most local hiking spots.

Bring whatever you have that floats or use our 10 ft John Boat. (sorry no outboard motors allowed, but battery powered trolling and old school paddling are ok, paddles provided.

1.5 hours from both Nashville and Chattanooga and 45 minutes from Monteagle, Sewanee, The Caverns, Bonaroo, Manchester, McMinnville.

OTHER THINGS WE HAVE:

FIREFLIES, lots of them around sunset. Just like stars in the trees.

HUMMINGBIRDS, if the feeders are out you are welcome to add nectar to them. (1/4 cup sugar, to 1 cup boiling water, let cool, fill feeders) They put on a great show all day long near the front porch. There is usually a jug of it in the refrigerator.

DEER, they love to graze in the back pasture. Absolutely no hunting, but feel free to shoot them with a camera if you are lucky enough to see them.

RACOONS, so BAG and TIE and lock all trash in the cans on the back porch and don't forget to use the strap to keep them from getting into it, they are very clever. Garbage pick up is Monday.

BATS, yes, bats nest along the bluff and appear every night to eat Mosquitos, so we don't have many! but bring bug spray just in case.

BEARS, we have NO bears! Go to Gatlinburg if you want bears.

NEIGHBORS , we love them and ask that you not trespass on their property, not allow pets to roam the neighborhood, and keep music and loud noise to a minimum.

Thank you for checking us out! We hope you and your family will join us and make many wonderful memories here.

Great for 2 couples not 3

I wish the listing was more up front about being 3 bedrooms the whole upstairs is one bedroom the pictures makes it look like there's 3 seperate bedrooms. One of our couples declined to come because of no privacy. Other than that beautiful scenery.

Great hideaway near lots of beautiful trails

We enjoyed our stay at this peaceful and tranquil property. Located on a very private lake and road, we felt like we were truly away from it all but still had the creature comforts. So many wonderful and beautiful hiking trails nearby combined with the clean and perfect temperature lake made this a paradise away from home.

We had an absolute blast staying at this Cabin! Only regret is that we did not stay long enough and will be sure to book more time here in the future. Everything was clean and stocked, just need to bring food and drinks and you are set! We made the best memories and can’t wait to go back.

Loved this little lakeside canin

Our families enjoyed the cabin and the lake. Fishing and kayaking were amazing. The wildlife was spectacular as were the stars. Very quiet place. Our only complaint was that the downstairs bedroom was hot, but it seemed to get better the longer we were there.

WONDERFUL!!!

The property and cabin were fantastic!! The cabin is the perfect size for a family to relax and rest very easily and the beds are more than comfortable, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook every meal with ease, the living room is perfectly sized and organized to either watch television or play the provided board games, and the covered porch is a wonderful place to have your morning coffee while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. Speaking of the lake, there is an ample sized dock for relaxing or fishing; my husband literally fished all day, every day, and he caught his biggest bream ever. If you forget something or need to buy groceries and whatnot there are both convenience and grocery stores within a short drive where the people are extremely friendly and helpful. And lastly, the host is very easy to communicate with, and wants nothing more than to provide the guests with anything and everything to make for a fantastic stay. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning as soon as we are able. 😊😊

Great Stay at Hollerback

We spent Labor Day weekend at the Hollerback Hunt and Yacht Club - we had a great trip. Our three school aged kids and dog enjoyed playing in the water, riding in the boat, playing in the yard. When we weren't at the house, we were hiking on great trails and taking in amazing views. House is setup well - kids all slept easily upstairs, while we stayed downstairs. Location is wonderfully private and quiet - deer in the yard every morning. Great getaway for the long weekend!

Overall it was good!

The outside was awesome, which is where were we spent most of our time. Loved the fishing and dock, the grill and outside picnic area with the fire pit, lights and the yard, that was all very relaxing. The inside however was much less impressive with way too much clutter, no water pressure to shower in either bathroom . The whole place could really use a deep cleaning! Many expired condiments in the refrigerator that should have been trashed long ago. We also own a vacation rental and in my experience I would be getting a new cleaning service! Just saying

A little disapointed

We had a nice time at the cabin it is clean and comfortable inside. As for the outside the pictures on VRBO really need to be updated. The pictures make it seem like the cabin is secluded and private, but it really isn’t. If you are standing on the dock looking straight out you will be looking at the house and dock of the house about 50 yards across the lake. If you look to your right the road is 50 yards away and in plain view. The house sits right off that same road and the road can be seen and heard from the small front porch of the house. For a dead end street there sure are a lot of cars and trucks going back and forth. If you are looking forward to sitting in one of the many Adirondack chairs pictured, you will need to bring your own because there is only one Adirondack chair on the property and that one is cracked and has seen better days. There are other straight back chairs around the fire pit but they are not very comfortable for siting in for hours at a time. Also, if you are not planning on drinking the well water from the sink then you will need to bring water or your own Britta water filter pitcher because the one mentioned as an amenity in the cabin is no longer there. We were staying for a week and paper products were scarce. Exactly two rolls of TP per bathroom (this includes the one already started on the roll) a half a roll of paper towels and 1 plastic garbage bag (even though you are allowed 2 bags at no extra charge). So if you do not want to drive 20min to town to buy more you will need to bring your own. Overall quiet except for the road and the lake is very clean and peaceful. Great for swimming!

Why they chose this property

A peaceful, tranquil setting to enjoy family time and make lasting memories. We fell in love with this little gem and hope you will too.
However, if a party atmosphere is what you're looking for, we suggest looking elsewhere.
