About this property

Easy access to Steese Hwy for Ft Knox & travelers! Discounts on monthly rentals.

Discounts on monthly rentals.
Family-friendly, mother in law apartment located just outside Fairbanks, off Steese Highway and Steele Creek. We are about 15 minutes from city core, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, the airport and on the way to Ft Knox Mine.
To access the driveway, you will need a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive and should be comfortable navigating winter driving conditions. Rental vehicles do sell out here in Fairbanks, so make sure you have a vehicle that can access this home before booking.
This apartment can accommodate 2 people comfortably. We can be a little flexible with guests in short term bookings, and there is a roll-out twin bed and pull out couch in the closet if needed.
Sorry, no pets, no smoking in unit of any kind.

The space:
Mother-in-law suite on the 2nd floor of a family home over looking Fairbanks. You can view the Aurora Borealis, Denali and the city from the home.
Two pups live on the property.
A shared fire pit is available.
The large, private deck has a view of the city and can be a nice place to watch the Aurora at night.
The unit has a queen bed, a pull-out couch, and a twin rolling bed available. It is an open concept apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a full bath, and a washer and dryer in unit.
You must be able to climb a flight of stairs.

The apartment is in a family home, and it's not the best location for a love fest! Thank you for considering the children in the home.

Great stay!

We stayed at this beautiful property for 7 days. The house had everything one could ask for. The property is at beautiful location outside from city lights from not far from restaurants and grocery stores. We even saw northern lights from our room itself. The WiFi was really good for a remote work setup. The kitchen had all the appliances and utensils. The bedroom and living rooms were really cozy. The host was really flexible with check-in and check-out. We highly recommend this place.

Outstanding Accommodations

We stayed here in hopes to see the Northern Lights. Alas, we saw clouds and snow instead.Regardless... This is a fantastic place to stay for a visit to the Fairbanks area. Chena Hot Springs is an hour or so from the property. The Fountainhead Antique Auto museum and University of Alaska museum are minutes away. Our hosts were great - gracious, helpful and responsive to any questions/concern we had. The accommodations was warm, clean and welcoming. The kitchen (my favorite room of a home) was stocked with more than enough equipment (plates, silverware, pots, spices, etc.) to handle any meal that I prepared. The host provided a wonderful assortment of snacks for us to enjoy. All in all - a great place to stay! I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a place while exploring the surrounding Fairbanks area, chasing Northern Lights, or...Thanks to our host for providing a great place.Cheers,Tim C

We are a local family. Jay and I grew up in Fairbanks. I am a nurse, he's a pipefitter and the extra income helps us pay for our 3 kids who play hockey, soccer and volleyball. We are always on the go!

Why they chose this property

Jay grew up on Gilmore Trail. I grew up off Chena Hot Springs. We both have to respond to on call shifts and this location was a good fit. We bought our property in 2006 and built it over a decade of blood, sweat and tears. The landscaping is still in progress. The design was inspired by homes in Connecticut where I went to high school and started college. My colonial in Alaska!

What makes this property unique

We are very flexible with check in and check out times. I typically block a day or so before or after for cleaning so we can work with your travel needs. If you need something just ask.
