About this property
Incredible sunsets over pristine Loon Lake
The Lodge at Loon Lake is situated on a 2 acre wooded lot overlooking pristine Loon Lake. The Lodge is only available on a Sunday checkin (1:00pm) and Saturday check out (1:00pm) basis. Loon Lake is approximately 120 acres in size and is located within the Huron National Forest. The 4 bedroom lodge sits above the lake facing west. Every evening brings incredible sunsets over the lake. Only about one third of the shoreline has homes and cottages. The rest of the shoreline is nature at its best. If you are looking for a noisy, loud, power boating lake this is NOT IT. Loon Lake is a quiet, beautiful lake where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, hiking, relaxing on the water and viewing beautiful sunsets. The Lodge at Loon Lake was built in the 1950's and still has that special north woods feel and atmosphere. The entire exterior has been log sided with field stone trim. All the furniture, bedding and decorations have a north woods look. The interior is all knotty pine with wood floors. The large living room has a high ceiling with a stone fireplace. The dining room table can sit up to 8 persons and has a door wall that leads to the upper deck overlooking the lake. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need. There is also a small bistro table ideal for having morning coffee and looking over the lake. The master bedroom has a king bed and bathroom. There is a full second bathroom located next to both the Moose and Bear bedrooms. Both of these bedrooms have queen size beds. There is also an upstairs sleeping loft overlooking the main living area which has 4 twin beds. There is a fully equipped laundry room downstairs. On the outside of the lodge and facing the lake is a screen house located under the upper deck, There is also a field stone barbecue and a fire ring for campfires. With the lodge located above the lake there is a stepped walkway down to the lake side decks and water. Here there is a fishing boat with electric trolling motor, canoe and 4 kayaks along with a shed containing seat cushions, life vests and other water toys.

Great cabin and excellent fishing. Kitchen was very well stocked with everything you needed. Beds were very comfy and having 2 bathrooms was a plus. Enjoyed upper & lower decks. Lake was very clean.!!
A beautiful cottage offering all the amenities we were looking for, as well as a peaceful lake just right for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, & boating. The bonus was these items were provided by the owner. Would highly recommend this property for a family gathering! Hopefully, we can return sometime in the future.
The Lodge is wonderful! We loved the location, the beautiful lake and trees. The Lodge is beautiful inside and out. Everything you need is there. Bring your food, clothes and toothbrush. Very, very nice. We stayed there with our kids and grandkids and they loved it. Had our two dogs who had a wonderful time.
Small motor boat, raft, canoe and kayaks were great!
The storage cabinet by the dock wasn’t great, you might want to bring life jackets. The only other thing was no air conditioning and we had really hot weather a couple of days. Highly recommend.
nice get-a-way on wonderfl small lake, in a nice cabin in th woods
The property is in a wonderful wooded setting. We have rented this property last year as well- we love it. The owner is easy to work with. The property does need some "maintenance" work on the deck which is rotting away as well as the deck chairs. This would be an important update enhancing the property. The interior of the cabin is comfy and nice for a "rental". Highly recommend it.

Outstanding, host and crew are very welcoming. Lodge is very clean and has a beautiful view of Loon Lake. This Loon Lake (one of 14 loon lakes in Michigan) should be listed in the National Geographic List of most beautiful lakes. The water is crystal clear, setting is peaceful and the sunrises and sunsets out of this world. Thanks Jerry for the taking care of the family.
This home was just what we needed! We had grandparents, parents, and four children staying to unwind after a hectic school year. The beds were comfortable. The wifi was fast even with many people on it. The kitchen was well appointed. The home was clean. The kids thought the upstairs loft was super cool. Having all of the boats was incredible. It made our 3-4 times per day walk down to the lake extra fun.
For those who don't know, this isn't a shallow and warm lake. Even right near the shore, it is nice and deep. The water was very refreshing. We enjoyed going out on boats to a cove where we saw a bald eagle a few times!
The home is located in between two towns - Rose City and Mio. Both towns have a lot to offer and the people are very friendly. My kids enjoyed the city playground in Rose City and enjoyed hiking in Mio. Both towns have grocery shopping, dollar stores, restaurants, boating supplies, and more.
This was a great experience!
nice family get together-property handled everyone well.
The property is very nicely finished. There are a lot of "steps"to get down to the water, so if you have bad knees or joints, this is probably not a great choice. Beds were comfortable; everything needed in the kitchen was included; the water toys were nice; easy to work with owner. Recommend this property for a nice 1 week stay.
This cozy cabin on a lake is a great nature retreat. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck, kayaking and canoeing the afternoon, and snuggle up around a bonfire or indoor gas fireplace in the evening. Wifi was strong enough to work remote during our stay. Pictures don't do it justice!
My family of nine had a wonderful time at Loon Lake. It is a beautiful and serene location with the peaceful sound of the Loons. The weather was less than optimal during our stay, but we managed to find plenty of activities to keep us busy. Fishing was very good. We are catch and release fisherman. The home is just beautiful and tastefully decorated. We had ample sleeping room for all. I highly recommend it. The swing was a wonderful place to sit while watching the bald eagle soar around the lake.
I would recommend it and hope we can go back again.

Very nice relaxing place
The Home is well equipped and in a very quiet location. Deck is perfect for just relaxing and enjoying
the great views of the lake. Owners provide a boat with electric trolling motor, canoe, 2 kayaks
and a paddle boat for exploring the lake. Nice time sitting around the firepit and listening to the
Loons. If your looking for a place to just relax and enjoy nature this is it.

Beautiful!
We had a wonderful six day stay at this beautiful Lodge on Loon Lake. We enjoyed time with our children and grandchildren. There were nine of us, and the kids swam, kayaked, fished, used the paddleboat, and just had a great time. There was also time to catch a movie in West Branch and also our daughter and granddaughter went horseback riding in Vanderbilt. The home is beautiful, and had everything we needed. The view is amazing, and a lot of time was spent on the deck overlooking the lake. We heard the Loons many times, and even saw two Eagles. We made wonderful memories with our family. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home with us.

Get place to relax and get away from it all!
This is a wonderful place for a large group - plenty of beds.
Our family wanted to chill out together for a week and this was a great place to do that.
We never left the lodge except to go to the grocery store and hike once along the Au Sable river . My sons did go golfing one day and loved the golf course (it was about a 30 min. Drive away.)
The swimming raft was a huge hit as was the paddle boat, canoe and fishing boat. Just wish the fish were biting more!!!!
Make sure you bring fans with you - it can get very warm in the lodge from the afternoon sun coming in the lake facing Windows.
The stars at night are truly amazing since there are minimal lights around the lake. And the sunsets are gorgeous!
I have to say I have been missing the sound of the loons with my morning coffee and the beauty of the bald eagles.

A lovely family get away on a peaceful, beautiful lake. Our family loved it!
We loved the evening sunsets and beautiful boat rides across calm water. The lodge was very well equipped and clean. We were able to relax and enjoy a week away with our children and everyone had a space to call their own. We biked, boated, swam, ate, played "king of the raft," as well as the kids enjoying the rope swing located across the lake. We were amazed to see the two eagles each day and hear the loons throughout our stay. It was fun to read about them and their habits and we learned about these unique birds by reading the book provided at the lodge.
A couple things to keep in mind; their isn't air conditioning, but they did provide fans. There are a lot of stairs down to the lake, but we enjoyed making them a part of our daily step and workout goal. There is internet but it is spotty and inconsistent; we re-set the router daily.
There were many fun things to do in the area; Lumberman's Monument, Oscoda Beach, Tubbing on the Rifle or Au Sable River and the Sand Dunes. We highly recommend this property on Loon Lake!
