Charming, warm & tranquil historic downtown New Bern home

1880 historic home, fully modernized in historic downtown adjacent to Tryon Palace gardens/shops/cafe. Home is all about comfort, southern charm, modern amenities & has 4 gas fireplaces (living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms) a loft sleeps 3, eat in kitchen, beautifully furnished throughout. HDTV (2), high-speed Internet access included. All restaurants/taverns/cafes easily walkable as is waterfront/marina. Golf is plentiful, boaters have 2 public boat launches within 3/4 mile. There are 2 porches and lovely private fenced, landscaped backyard. Weather gets better & better after Labor Day, perfect for golfing, boating, fishing & biking. Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Cape Lookout Nat’l Seashore, ponies of Shackleford Banks and Carrot Island within 40 minutes drive. Bird watching at Croatan National Forest, NC Aquarium, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum all nearby. Come down, park the car, walk/bike everywhere, relax and be a townie for a week, month, season. Please take special note of pet restrictions. Weekly general cleaning for monthly rental is required and will be charged at time of reservation. Monthly rentals require damage protection by VRBO, this charge will be reflected in your final quote. Reservations that include the third floor loft have a minimal surcharge.

Historic New Bern

Charming 1900 property with a space for everyone; living room, dining room, family room, outdoor seating. I believe it is the home of an artist, lots of paintings to admire. If you love old homes with character, this is the one for you!

Annual Weekend in New Bern

We had another fantastic weekend in New Bern. As always, Kippy’s home was just perfect. We appreciate the closeness to breweries and downtown- all within walking distance. The short drive to Atlantic Beach is also great! Thank you for sharing your New Bern Home with us once again!

A little slice of heaven

The property was very comfortable with all the character of home built in the early 1900's. There were great spaces to be together and also to break away for quiet time. The location was extremely convenient and walkable to downtown. I would highly recommend this property.

Granddaughter’s christening

A special celebration was what brought us to New Bern (my granddaughter’s christening) was enhanced by a stay at a gorgeous Smith House. Hoping to stay at The Smith House again when visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and my beautiful granddaughter in New Bern.

Very comfortable

This place was very comfortable, and so clean! It was nice that the three of us each had our own. The location was good, especially if you don’t mind walking a few blocks to the shops and restaurants. Two of us were having some difficulty walking due to recent injuries, so we ended up having to drive the few blocks.

Comfortable home, great location

Extremely friendly and helpful host. Perfect location. We walked and biked everywhere. She provided 2 well-maintained bikes. Roomy, comfortable house. Wonderful art all over the home that we enjoyed a great deal. Highly recommend!

Charming Weekend

The house is historical and has kept a lot of the old charm. The furniture is very attractive and comfortable. We did not use the kitchen much but seemed modern enough. Plenty of hot water for the two of us. The downstairs gas fireplace worked well. Private back deck and patio. Just around the corner from Tryon Palace. Around a 8-10 minute walk to downtown. A breakfast diner a block away. Wonderful weekend.

Perfect Home - Perfect Location

Beautiful home in New Bern's historic district, with plenty of room for family to gather and stay. Accommodations provided above and beyond what we needed. Walking distance to water, Tryon Palace and excellent coffee shop! Only 10 mins by foot to downtown as well. It was perfect.

Bear City Adventure

All was excellent! Wonderful warm home; Beds and furniture were very comfortable; Great location for touring New Bern! Walk everywhere! Even while in France the homeowner was in touch with us! Artwork in the house was spectacular! Our grand-children enjoyed their private space "up the circle stairs"! Could not have been better.

Perfect experience, wonderful memories

I can’t rave enough about my stay. The owner is simply wonderful. Communication was top notch. The home itself is beautiful. It had everything I needed. I actually went to New Bern, to have Thanksgiving with my daughter, son in law and brand new grandson. Their home is too small to accommodate guests. I was able to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal. The kitchen had everything I needed. We ate in the gorgeous dining room. The walls throughout are decorated with the most beautiful original paintings. When I looked at the artist’s signature I realized, the host/owner is the artist. I stayed with my dog Henry, who felt right at home. Fully fenced back yard, where I would sit on the porch swing, have my coffee, while Henry roamed safely. My daughter and 3 month old grandson, did spend a lot of time with me during my stay. Plenty of room for all the baby gear. We were able to walk to town and down to the waterside park. Shopped many locally owned businesses, restaurants and antique shops. I hope to return and stay again in the future.

Excellent stay!

Property was exactly as described and in a beautiful neighborhood downtown. Owner was very nice and timely when a small issue arose about checking in. 5/5 stars. This property will definitely remain on my list of places to stay while in New Bern from now on.

Cottage Bungalow in New Bern

This was a wonderful house that was close to town close enough to walk to shops and restaurants. It was very cozy and well-appointed with everything we could possibly need. It is one of my favorite VRBO stays. It had great character and charm!!!

Great Get Away

Charming house, we could all spread out. Don't let your kids fall asleep if they are sleeping on the 3rd floor, within walking distance of Tryon Palace and the waterfront. We had a wonderful time spent there at their house.

Wedding Fun

The property is homey and eclectic. We would highly suggest this place to anyone. Close to the downtown with lots of personal charm. Definitely an old home with all the modern conveniences. Very comfortable furniture. With plenty of room for 5 adults. To. feel like a home away from home. Everyone that we worked with during our stay were very welcoming.
