Beautiful Rubicon retreat
Great location and views of the lake. House was very comfortable with plenty of firewood, which came in handy. David was very inviting and easy to work with. He refunded our last day without asking when we had to leave early. A class act all the way. Will definitely stay there again.

Relaxing Memorial Day weekend with amazing views
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. It’s certainly not new, but the feel of the place is worth coming back to. The owner is excellent...available when needed for anything. The deck is the highlight of the home with 180 degree views that are second to none. The HOA pier had a lot of activity on it but everyone was friendly. Plenty of beds, baths, and kitchen amenities. Close to takeout pizza and a small grocery store as well. Quiet neighborhood with little to no traffic. All in all...a great lakefront experience.

Beautiful, as always!
We have stayed in homes all around the lake for years...this was by far in our top 2! Best kitchen supplies I ever seen. Dave is a wonderful guy to work with and answered all our questions. We will most definitely stay again. Who wouldn't?!! Thanks Dave, Ted & Julie

Fantastic Stay! Beach/ Views/ Location/ Owner
Very nice stay. Great relaxing place. The deck with the filtered sunlight was incredible. Great balance between being up high for the best views, with a very easy short walk to your private beach and shared dock. Felt very private. This is not a new luxury home, for which we did not want. Has a nice rustic feel, but with an updated kitchen. The kitchen has granite counters (kitchen picts online are not current). Huge modern fridge. The chef with us commented on the great knives and exhaust vent. Easy access off of 89, with a short hop to Emerald Bay (recommend the Eagle Falls Lake hike), or to the north, Tahoe City, with some neat restaurants along the way. The owner Dave was great to work with, and was very accommodating. Thanks for the kayak!

Beautiful beach, great owner
Dave is probably the most conscientious and accommodating owner we have encountered. Checked in repeatedly to make sure we were enjoying our stay, was on call to provide hike and restaurant suggestions, even offered us a free night (which we unfortunately could not use). House is on a spectacular spot, with a stunning beach and dock. The use of kayaks and paddle boards were also a big plus. Impossible not to have fun here. The only negatives are minor--the furniture and decor are very dated (which such a commanding water view from the master, why cover it with such tacky drapes?), the lighting harsh and cheap. (A small investment could really make this place incredible). But those are nitpicks---we truly had a great time!

Beautiful Views and Very Responsive Owner
I have been visiting Tahoe for many years and was interested in heading back there with my wife, our young daughter and our two dogs (who love the mountains). I searched for quite a while on VRBO/Homeaway to find a house with spectacular views that was also pet friendly. This house was the best choice, at least from the pictures. Leading up to my booking, the owner was very responsive and helpful regarding answering my questions and providing clarifications when needed. He was even more helpful during our stay. When we arrived at the house, the views did not disappoint and looked identical to the pictures. The house is charming and has a rustic/cabin type of feel - it is not a luxury new construction. Don't let that fool you though - it was completely stocked with anything you would ever need in terms of the kitchen but also has the right amount of furniture and arrangements to comfortably sleep many more than just the three of us. The house does have a lot of stairs inside of the house and also down to the beach, but we are young and didn't mind that. There are amazing views from most of the rooms and the master bedroom and bathroom are quite large. The private beach below the house is an amazing asset and we were happy that our daughter and dogs could frolic there and enjoy the beautiful lake and views. The location is ideal overlooking Rubicon Bay, which has the prettiest water colors in my opinion. It is close to South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City and we spent more time in Tahoe City because 89 South was unexpectedly closed due to construction. The only negative was that (in June - Sep 2016), the yellow jackets (wasps) have taken over much of the Sierras and Lake Tahoe. If you went outside with any food (sugar or protein), you would be instantly swarmed by large amounts of them. To be fair, this is not the fault of the house or owner, but something that occurred in the area and built up this summer. Many national forest campers had to completely abandon their campsites this year - it was that bad. We couldn't do much hiking because of the yellow jacket problem and didn't get to enjoy the house deck/views as much as we would have liked. The owner did have wasp traps setup around the property and gave us a credit for the issue, which we really appreciated, even though it wasn't his fault at all. Again, this was a Tahoe wide problem but it ruined many people's vacations. We will stay in this house again in the future, for sure.

Spectacular lakefront setting
This is a spectacularly sited property perched lakefront about 60 feet above the shore. The master bedroom and living room look out on the view through walls of glass, and a large comfortable deck faces the water, where a kayak is available to use. The setting is quiet and peaceful, but well-located, within a short drive of great hiking, lakefront restaurants, and small groceries. The kitchen is well-equipped. The owner is very available and responsive. I spent great summer week here, gathering with my bi-coastal family.

Gorgeous views with private beach!
My wife and I stayed at this property for a winter getaway with our 2 dogs and it was the perfect spot! You can't ask for better views!! In the winter it is very quiet and secluded which was just what we wanted. While it does feel secluded there are many great restaurants nearby that we enjoyed and we also snowboarded at Kirkwood which was very close and had probably the best views from any mountain in Tahoe! It was awesome to have direct access to the private beach by just walking down the steps and that the beach was pet friendly. The kitchen was well equipped and we found markets close by to pick up groceries and be able to cook at the house. The owner was easy to get in contact with and very accommodating and didn't give us time frames for check in or check out by a certain time which was very nice. I would highly recommend this property and we will be returning because we loved it. Overall we had an incredible experience renting this property!

Great setting
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful spot. This section of the lake is spectacular. The water is crystal clear and the beach stretches for well over a mile. The home is quiet, clean and cozy. The hot tub is an added plus. The property owner was a delight to work with, responsive and accommodating.

Gorgeous location, great for families with pets
I stayed here with my family (which included my 2-year old niece and our two dogs) in mid-October. The house is on a stunning location, right on the crystal clear waters of Rubicon Bay. It is also conveniently located close to town, so you can make emergency runs to the (small) grocery store if needed. The house was clean and comes very well equipped with linens, towels, and wood for the fireplace. The kitchen has a terrific viking stove, a grill just outside the kitchen door, and all the pots, pans, and utensils you could need for cooking. It has a large master bedroom and bath, both of which have stunning views. Our family spent most of our time out on the deck, taking in the beautiful sunsets from the hot tub. The house also comes with fast WiFi Internet. There was a single-person kayak available for our use. Dave, the owner, is incredibly responsive and helpful. He answered all our questions promptly and even threw in a free night's stay and permitted us to check in and out as early or late as we wanted. I would highly recommend staying here. We are already planning to come back next summer!

Our Family has enjoyed this home since 1984 and absolutely love it!!

Why they chose this property

We bought this property because of its stunning views, turquoise waters (like the Caribbean) white sandy beaches, and the beauty of the home on the inside. We love hiking in nearby Desolation Wilderness, kayaking, boating, the awesome restaurants, and the community.

What makes this property unique

You will love walking down to the sandy beach in front of the house. Additionally, you can use the HOA pier. The size of the beach depends on the lake level of Lake Tahoe which can fluctuate.
