NOTE FROM NAPA VALLEY VINTNERS' COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

"Now that we have a clearer picture of what happened in Napa Valley, we are grateful and humbled to report that damage to the Napa Valley wine industry was not widespread," says Patsy McGaughy, communications director for Napa Valley Vintners, who adds that only a handful of vineyards (believed to be fewer than five) suffered significant losses, which is still five too many, but certainly not an entire region.

The Napa Valley is excited to welcome you back. The restaurants are cooking. The tasting rooms are pouring. There simply is no better way to help us recover than by enjoying our wines, dining in our restaurants, and visiting our legendary valley. So come experience the Napa Valley Spirit again."

Not as Advertised

The ice maker is broken. The patio fountain and lights do not work. The gas grill had mold growing in it. The pool, spa and outside living areas are nice but are in general need of maintenance. The dining table chairs are rickety. The kitchen appliances are filthy. There are cob webs everywhere. There is only one small TV with very basic channels on a funky stand awkwardly placed in the corner of the dining room. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. The property layout is excellent with a nice view of the mountains and is about a 10 minute walk to downtown Calistoga. Street noise is vey loud.

The house was great especially for 12 adults, allowing each of us to have our own room and restroom

We did have to purchase a few items bc the house was not well stocked- pan, cooking sheet and a few other items. Other than that, we had a great experience. Would love for the space to have an outdoor heater to enjoy the CA nights and would have been great to have a book that explains how to use everything like the dishwasher since it is restaurant grade. Would recommend this house!

Good B&B close to everything

Good house, which is actually a B&B. Pool was not heated as advertised and there was a lack of paper products. When we got there house was in a black out, keep in mind when going there in hot weather.

Calistoga

Our family of 14 had a good experience overall. It was off to a rough start when we arrived about 5 pm and it was plainly not ready. Beds unmade, trash unemptied, etc. But that got taken care of and we settled in for a nice weekend. There is more road noise than expected. But the space works well for a large group, the beds are comfortable, the housekeeping staff did a great job containing our mess every day, the pool and hot tub were a hit, and we loved that we could easily walk to town. Our recommendations are to add an electric tea kettle and cereal bowls to the copious kitchen paraphernalia.

House -Chanric Inn

This is not a luxury home, but an old house that was converted to a bed and breakfast, and then rented out as a vacation home. It’s on a busy highway ,noisy and not in a neighborhood. The grounds are not well maintained. The pool is up a set of stairs, away from the house with posted signs saying no swimming with diarrhea and there is a $2000 fine for taking glass to the pool. The front porch faces the noisy highway and the all of the outdoor furniture is dated. The house interior has been partially updated, but still has his and hers signs on the bathroom doors and Chanric Inn information, exit signs, etc posted on the walls. The individual rooms are updated but there is no common room large enough for a family gathering. There is only one small TV in the entire house and it is in the breakfast area. The kitchen is dated and the ice maker was broken. The manager said it would be repaired the following day and it never was. There is an old massage room with broken massage tables and broken furniture in it on the main floor. There are three stories, 7 bedrooms, but only one zone of AC for the entire place so the bedrooms on the top floor are hot and the bottom floor bedrooms are cold. Nothing in this place fits the description of a luxury home. If you want to stay in a refitted bed and breakfast on a busy street, with no indoor gathering area, this is the place for you. Also important to note is the fact that when Home Away, Evolve Vacation Management and the owner were notified on the day of arrival of the miss representation and issues with the home, no action was taken. After many hours on the phone, I was reassured that each would follow up with me and none did. We have rented many homes all over the country and have never had a issue like this or a complaint in the past. We would not recommend this rental.

Wonderful stay!

We stayed here with a group of 14 and had the best time. The setup was perfect. We loved the pool and hot tub and the ability to walk into town. Plus all rooms are pretty equal which was great. Would definitely recommend!

Great for larger groups

If you're looking to watch TV, this is not the place. Only one small TV in Kitchen area; no others. Otherwise it was perfect. Due to rain, didn't get to use pool or hot tub. Really great having the housekeeping done daily! Would stay here again.

Perfect for our girls trip!

Our book club group of 12 ladies stayed here in March and we can’t say enough great things about this home! It was the perfect set up for large groups. Nice size bedrooms with king size beds in almost all the rooms and each room had its own bathroom. The kitchen fit all of our groceries easily and had a wine fridge for our purchases. It also had a big coffee maker which was nice in the mornings. The grounds around the property were gorgeous and we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the comfy seating. It was too cold to use the pool but it would be perfect in the summer. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing house for large group!

A group of 12 of us just stayed at this house and loved it! We loved that each bedroom had a king bedroom with a private bathroom. We ate out most meals, but loved the large kitchen for making breakfasts in the morning. Plenty of space and privacy for our group. We were out most days at wineries, but we enjoyed the indoor and outdoor living areas in the mornings and evenings. Daily housekeeping was a bonus too! Would definitely return here with a large group. Just a few blocks north of the main street in Calistoga.

Calistoga Wonderful!

We chose this venue after a great deal of research for our California college reunion (40 years). Our group of 11 traveling from the East Coast loved all of the amenities offered here. All of the bedrooms were comfortable and top of the line and there were plenty of places for small group conversations. The professional kitchen provided the opportunity for great meals, including one by a personal chef we had come to cook dinner one night. Convenient to walk into town and pickups by wine tour companies. And the pool and hot tub are awesome! The whole property is beautifully landscaped and we loved all the flowers and herb plants inviting exploration. It was great having maid service daily and washer/dryer. You will not be disappointed!

Stairways to Luxury

From the picture(s) it seems the home is up 6ish stairs to a patio and then on to another 6ish stairs, That is the case after you park in one of the 4-5 parking spots and up the driveway to start the ascent to the lower level(front door pictured) that has 3 bedrooms. Up a full staircase to main level with the kitchen and living areas. Up to a full staircase to the 2nd level with 4 bedrooms. The party of 14 had a conference 4 days prior to our visit so there was plenty of suitcases that had to make the 2nd floor. The house was well maintained and plenty of seats and table spaces for eating and game playing. The front porch is fairly large and has some comfy seating. The kitchen is well suited except the pots and pans(they were very used and worn out). There is an ice maker. A dishwasher that is quick, but a little tricky to figure out. The bedrooms are decent size with nice bathrooms attached, all with dressers, very little closet space and few hangars. There is bar soap for shower, but what to use at sink? To house 14 you have to give up some space, but we had sufficient. The daily maid service is a plus. You are given a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom and 1 roll of paper towel and expected to replenish if you need it, I find for the daily fee you shouldn't have to 'worry' about the amount of paper goods used. (within reason of course). The outdoor space is plentiful, with chairs and seats. And of course the garden and vegetation is beautiful.

Amazing property

I was really impressed with this location. The house is set up like a bed and breakfast, but you get the entire place to yourself. The house is huge and you could comfortably fit 7 couples if you wanted to. Each bedroom having its own bathroom was great, and I also appreciated having daily cleaning service. The hot tub and pool were great as well. I highly recommend this place and I would definitely stay here again in the future.
