Direct Ocean Front 1BD/2BA Whaler #401

Whaler #401 is a lovely one bedroom/two bath, direct ocean front condominium located in Tower 1. This condo offers sweeping views spanning from Black Rock to the north, across Kaanapali Beach and beyond to the neighbor island of Lanai and up to the lush West Maui Mountains. Sit on the wrap-around lanai and enjoy full afternoon sun, sunsets and whale watching in season. Comfy King bed and a Queen sofa sleeper.

All condos at The Whaler feature full kitchens, full baths, central air conditioning, wi-fi and a large lanai (balcony). Complimentary washer and dryers located on every floor, for guest use.

In addition, this home includes a complimentary "Starter Kit" of supplies, upon arrival: Paper towels, garbage bags, dish detergent, dishwasher detergent, new kitchen sponge with scrubber; several rolls of toilet tissue, kleenex, hotel-size bar soap, shampoo, and lotion. **Please note that the starter kit items are not replenished. We do not provide daily maid service, however it can be added for an additional cost.

Check-in time is 4:00pm; Check-out 10:00am

***Our minimum stay is 5 nights and 10 nights during the Christmas/New Years holiday. However, we may approve shorter stays if they back up to an existing reservation. We will do our best do accommodate you.

Daily Resort Fee: $33/day plus tax; and on April 1, 2025 it will increase to $35/day. This covers parking and all resort amenities and is payable upon arrival at the front desk.

The Whaler resort just completed a 36-million dollar renovation. The resort looks fabulous! Completed projects include new lobby building, BBQ areas with beautiful granite tops and benches, refinished lighted tennis courts, brand new Nautilus Fitness Center, Spa, additional waterfall feature in the koi pond, beautiful luscious landscaping and revamped parking areas.

*Love the island of Maui. Have stayed at the Whaler Condominiums for 37 years now and stayed in many of the various units, some excellent and some average, but overall very good standard and have all the facilities required. Would definitely recommend the Whaler as a place to stay. Lovely situation on Kaanapali Beach, central to shops, restaurants, etc. Great stay as always.

Great location, in horrible shape
Last year we stayed in this exact unit for two weeks last and it was dirty and in disrepair - something so wrong in the master bath that it had a powerful smell of urine our entire stay (even after being “fixed”), broken coffee maker, at least 30% of kitchen lights burned out, they performed maintenance of refrigerator during our stay, not enough dishwasher soap or garbage bags for the duration of our stay. We thought things might be different this year and gave it another try for our two week vacation and the same thing happened - master bath started reeking of urine right away (I asked the property manager to just bring me a bottle of cleaner which I used with Kleenex and wiped up a disgusting amount of urine from the floor around the toilet), faucet on kitchen sink literally falling off and sprayer hose unable to retract, corroded batteries in tv remote so it wouldn’t work, burned out lights, speed of ceiling fan in bedroom is broken so that it’s too low to cool you while sleeping, bedside lamp bulb dangling by a thread, constant flickering light in second bath making it unusable. The unit itself is in a great location and the Whaler property is very nice but I think it’s reasonable to expect proper maintenance of any rental property and not the renters responsibility to report the list of repairs and spend time to arrange for the actual repairs with the management company while on vacation.

30th Anniversary
We stayed in room 401 for our 30th Anniversary and what a treat! We have stayed at the Whaler many times over the past 28 years and always look forward to returning. Great location, staff is par to none and treat us like ohana (family)! Highly recommended!

Great Vacation
We just recently stayed at this unit and could not have asked for a better stay. The views are just incredible. And it's not just one angle but two different angles due to it being a corner unit. Plus you get the awesome view from the bedroom! The unit has everything you need and two bathrooms to boot. Very convenient to Whalers Village and of course, Ka'anapali is such an awesome place to stay anyways. You can't go wrong with this unit! Just loved it!

401 Whaler Condo
Wonderful condo. We have stayed there before. Please upgrade the bedding. The sheets have seen better days, the pillows are so big and hard and the blankets are stained and old. It would be nice to have some soap for showering and maybe a starter coffee service. Otherwise we feel at home.

It's All About the View
We got the rest and relaxation that we came for. Corner oceanfront units at the Whaler are unparalleled. The views are magnificent. It is possible to experience the fantastic sunsets as well as the cliff diver at Black Rock every night from your very own lanai. It was true rest and peace from this oceanfront unit. If you are looking for awesome views look no further. The interior of the unit was disappointing. The unit was clean. However, it was also clear that the unit has received few if any improvements since the Whaler was first built. The tub/shower combo in the bedroom is very cumbersome to get in and out of. The kitchen was well equipped with cookware, utensils, etc., but, if you intend to keep the unit clean and tidy without maid service there is nothing there to assist you with that. There was no broom, vacuum, or glass cleaner for the several glass table tops. We bought some glass cleaner and left it there for the next guests. If the air conditioning was on and slider doors are opened the air is supposed to go off. Sometimes it went off and sometimes it didn't. And that was after the maintenance people came in to adjust. Check out time is 11 am. My husband went to throw out the trash at 10 am on checkout day and when he came back he was locked out. We thoroughly enjoyed our time outside and it is all about location for us.

Perfect Place to Enjoy the Beauty of Maui
This unit's ocean front setting with large wrap around lanai was the perfect location to celebrate our 50th with family who were also staying at the Whaler. We could watch them in the pool, swimming out front in the ocean, and headed up the beach to snorkel. It was an easy walk to the Whaler's Village for an ABC Store and many dining opportunities. Will definitely be returning!

Great view, grounds and buildings very clean. Pool and staff fantastic.
Actual unit was a bit dated inside, primarily kitchen and bathrooms. Unit could use a coat of paint. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking but had an ant problem. Bed in master was very hard. No washer and dryer in unit-only one per floor. Also, no maid service mid week.
