Terrible Experience at a Subpar Rental
We arrived at 7 PM, well after check-in, only to find the house completely unready for renters - beds unmade, towels and trash on the floor. The homeowner seemed annoyed when we called her, and the cleaning crew didn’t finish until after 9 PM.The twin bedroom had a musty odor, and the pillows/bedding were foul-smelling - we bought new bedding to use. Several lightbulbs were out, adding to the overall neglect.One night, we went downstairs to sleep and found the entire lower level freezing. The thermostat had been remotely locked at 59F by the homeowner, and with the outside temperature at 9F, it was FREEZING. We contacted the owner through VRBO, but she didn't answer their multiple calls until the next day. With no way to adjust the heat, we had to huddle together in one warmer bed and on the couches upstairs.The worst part? After a 3-hour drive, arriving at a dirty house during peak vacation time, the owner suggested we could leave (!!), and she would offer a refund - no apology, no accountability. That’s not a solution; it’s an insult.This place is poorly managed, unprofessional, and unprepared for guests.
