Guest access
The entire 65 acres are opened for our guests to explore, hike through, walk about, enjoy. The carport may not be available but there is plenty of open parking space all around house and cabin.
If you need space for additional guests, the house next to the cabin can be rented as well. Listing name: The Aerie at Bull Mountain - Home and Cabin.
The key for the Cabin is in a key box outside the cabin. Guests staying at the Cabin should not enter the Home or use any of the recreation areas around and behind the Home.
The gate has a code which will be given to the guests two days prior to arrival. Each set of guests will receive a unique gate code.
VERY IMPORTANT - You must arrive at the property during daylight hours the first night you are staying at the Cabin. Once you are familiar with the roads to the property and on the property, you can, of course, come in and out as you see fit.
The foothill mountains of East Tennessee are small at the base but very tall. This means that the roads through these mountains are narrow and steep, and often times, road signs may be missing. This is the very reason for which the views from our mountains are so incredibly beautiful. Arrive early the first time and it will be a piece of cake after that.
The 1.3 mile road up to The Cabin is 30-50 feet wide to the top, and built on solid ground so it is very safe to drive up and down the road, no need to worry.
The property has a Grounds and Maintenance Manager who lives 1/3 up the mountain, at 1424 Kennedy Way. This is the only other person living on the mountain. There are no neighbors behind or on either side of the house; please feel free to ask the manager for any assistance you may need while you are our guests, directions, maintenance, etc., or communicate directly with me, the property manager, using messaging board.
Stop at a grocery store on your way up the mountain or bring your pantry needs as there is only one small market nearby (9 miles) and it has limited hours and limited stock.
Other things to note
There is only ONE mature pet allowed in the Cabin, no puppies or kittens; maximum weight allowed is 30 pounds.
If your pet likes to chaise, please remember that you are surrounded by undeveloped, undisturbed land where wildlife roams freely--bears, deer, bobcats, cougars, boars, eagles, possums, squirells, racoons, etc. PLEASE keep your pet on a leash when outside.

About the host
Hosted by Monique Kennedy

My husband and I enjoy domestic and international travel. When we are at home at the Aerie, we sip coffee in the mornings looking at the sun rise over the mountains. In the evenings, we enjoy a glass of wine while in the hot tub, listening to soft jazz and watching the sun as it moves across the western sky on its way home.
We enjoy music of all sorts, classical, chamber, opera, and the sounds of crooners, of which my husband is one. We are up to date on current events but prefer meaningful television programming, mostly streamed now adays.
We live in New Orleans, Louisiana so Mardi Gras, jazz, and good food are a way of life for us.
Hope you enjoy our Cabin and return to it.

Why they chose this property
Del Rio is unlike any other town in the East Tennessee mountains, and yet, it is like all other small towns in the area. The mountains offer you seclusion, beauty, and a way of life grounded of core family values.
I first saw the majesty of the Smoky Mountains twenty years ago, on my way from Pigeon Forge to Asheville, North Carolina, after a business trip. In love with the views but not comfortable with the busynesses of either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, I headed east on route 25/70 until I arrived at downtown, Del Rio, an intersection with one realtor office, one post office and a small restaurant.
Curious about the natural beauty around me and the quietness I heard, I stopped by the realty office. The realtor said to me, "what took you so long, I've been waiting for you; I left that office with a property under my name.
And, I have never regret it.

What makes this property unique
You are renting an estate, a private mountain, a mile ++ long road up the mountain with no neighbors, surrounded by 650,000 acres of the Cherokee National Forest, 2,001 acres of the Martha Sunquist State Forest and another 400+ acres of undeveloped private land.
The Cabin faces East to North East, about 280 degrees of open mountain range views where the smoke rising from between the mountains often cover the mountains with white smoke. Behind the house, the sun sets over the ridge of the mountain but often times it is not seen in its totality as the protective ridge behind the Cabin interferes with an open view.
Sit on the porch, on the open areas, put wood in the fire pit, barbecue outside, sit and enjoy nature at its quiest, and at it most beautiful, and enjoy paradise.
The Cabin is fully equipped with electronics, streaming services, laundering spaces, cozy beyond believe, and yet within 30-40 miles or every major attraction in the Smokys and in Western North Carolina: hiking, white water rafting, tubing, music, museums, food, fishing, etc. The best of all worlds, come enjoy it.
