Log Home - Liked it not loved it.

We love log homes and this one had a flowing design including beautiful windows looking into a forested area. The furniture was comfortable and chosen with care. That said, there are some areas that need improvement. 1- The porch and back door platform need railings to prevent someone steeping off and falling. 2- The upstairs bath/shower does not have enough water pressure to allow bathing. 3- The refrigerator ice cube dispenser works erratically and needs to be adjusted. 4- TV/DVD player did not work well. If these items were addressed, the quality of the visit in the already charming home would be very pleasant.

Wonderful Woodsy Cabin Getaway

The Shingletown log cabin was the perfect base to explore Lassen Volcano NP and surrounding area. The park is 15 minutes away. Burney Falls about 45 minutes with many creeks, lakes and places to explore in between. The cabin is cozy with vaulted ceilings and open concept. The kitchen is well appointed with quality cookware etc. The Weber kettle bbq and separate gas bbq made outdoor cooking a treat - meats with charcoal, while roasting veggies on the gas. Speaking of outdoors the exterior spaces with the hammocks, porch rockers, Adirondack chairs and picnic table helped make memorable mornings and evenings with the family. Exploring the 3 acres we collected nature “stuff” and made natural artworks. No interwebs? no problem. Perfect for unwinding. The owner Alison was very attentive and responsive to my questions and takes good care of her guests. The only issues we had was the limited number of towels - probably just an issue with the cleaners failing to properly restock - and the low water pressure. We were able to overcome these 1st world problems and would definitely recommend staying in the log cabin to anyone interested in unplugging and exploring the Lassen region. Hopefully, we will get to visit the cabin again!

Perfect Unplugged Getaway!

We loved the darling cabin in the woods! I really appreciated the attention to detail for both design and comfort. The location is perfect- about 5 minutes from the Gate To Lassen; about 40 minutes to the Lassen Summit Trail Head. We went up with our best friends and felt the place was super comfy for 4. The loft is beautiful and airy, large bathroom too, as well as a cozy first floor with small bedroom and nice bathroom/closet area. Just wonderful!

Relaxing and Comfortable

My sister and her husband joined us for a wonderful stay in this quiet and peaceful spot for 3 days. We had all the comforts of home minus the hectic interruptions of daily life. We visited Lassen Park and Burney Falls returning home at night to a kitchen fully equipped with everything we needed to make wonderful dinners. We enjoyed the two baby fawns that crossed our yard that were easily spotted from the expansive window views. We appreciated the solitude of the location with the close proximity to the National Park and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Scenic Cabin Getaway!

My husband, myself, and my two kids loved this cabin! It had great views with an updated decor. The owner, Alison, paid attention to lots of little touches that went a long way. My kids loved the outdoor hammocks, and we loved the rocking chairs on the front porch. We also loved the trails in the back of the house. The dvd's were well stocked, and after a long day of hiking at Lassen Volcanic National Park were a nice family treat. The house was super clean, and was well stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal. Coming from a big city, this house was exactly what we needed. It was great to be unplugged, and have valuable family time. In addition this home was a great midpoint between Yosemite and the Redwoods. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and cozy cabin with all the amenities on a beautiful mountain road!

We absolutely loved staying in the cabin and did not want to leave! It's quiet and remote, but just down the road from Lassen National Park. The area was awesome for running and we loved reading in the hammocks and walking around Lake McCumber in the evenings. Definitely a must stay for those looking for a quiet mountain getaway with a stunning national park 10 minutes away.

A wonderful cabin near Mt. Lassen

We spent a few nights in this remote cabin in the woods. It is a beautiful home with a great table for cards and meals, a spacious kitchen to cook meals, and only a 15 minute drive to the grocery store. More importantly, it was only 15 minutes to the front gate of the north side of Mt. Lassen, where we got super wet during a rainy hike (our kids loved it). It is more like 1.25 hours to the south side visitor's center (during the winter), which was a scenic drive. The house was quiet and relaxing.

This cabin is my personal retreat that I love to share with others looking to be in nature.

Why they chose this property

This is my little sanctuary. I love to come to this cabin to unwind and relax. It's the perfect place for a couple, small family, or artist looking to get away from it all.

What makes this property unique

The fresh air, being in nature, and waking up to the trees has to be my favorite, as well as walking miles of timber trails at the end of the private lot.
